Job Description

• AECOM is actively seeking highly talented and motivated BIM Modeller with Civil 3D Modelling capabilities for employment based at their South African offices. The candidates will have the opportunity to work with a talented group on Highways related projects, including freeways, Highways, Provincial/ Sate Routes, as well as Local Municipal Roads/Streets.  The ideal candidate will be responsible and able to learn quickly on the job.
• As a BIM Modeler, you will be assisting the Design Engineers and the broader team in producing Highways/ Roads models and drawings for international and/or local projects.

Technical Excellence:

• Develops 3D models drawings, sketches, diagrams with accuracy to the design instruction under the supervision of an experienced Engineer (Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads).
• Ensures high-quality drawing outputs in Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads under project timelines and budget.
• When required, collects and analyses information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.
• Participates in design progress and coordination meetings.
• Actively seeks information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develops efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Work will be a mixture of local and international work but likely predominantly international.

Job Summary:

• Creates 3D models, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

• 2-5  years’ experience
• Primary competence required with AutoCAD and Civil 3D and/or Microstation and OpenRoads.

Qualifications

• Draughting Certificate required.

Job Description

• The Senior Engineer delivers discipline involvement in projects and ensures effective delivery input of others. Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, drawings and reports etc. The role includes design development, design review, supervision, coordination and design documentation. Guides junior engineers and independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete design works.

Technical Excellence:

• Facilitates over and coordinate small - mid-size project teams of discipline-led engineers.
• Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment as an experienced engineer.
• Provides specialised technical input into studies and design work for the expertise and identifies discrepancies in results.
• Follows existing or develops design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by self and others.
• Participates in and creates an interdisciplinary review of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection).
• Has knowledge of construction costs relating to their specific areas of design.
• Gathers and correlates engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Prepares technical specifications.
• Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision—technical coordination with authorities for approvals.
• Solves problems encountered using knowledge, innovation and modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous works.
• Contributes to the area of expertise, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and delivers solutions where precedent may not exist.
• Performs technical quality reviews of design calculations, BIM models and drawings, including documentation in project record by adhering to quality, occupational
• health and safety and corporate standards.
• Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities.   
• Mentoring of junior staff.

Client Relationship Management:

• Begins to build and maintain client relationships. Attends client meetings as technical support to gather information and discuss project requirements, explain/ defend work, etc. Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals—the ability to present solutions to clients in a professional and technically competent manner.                   

Minimum Requirements

• Master of Science or Engineering preferred.
• Professionally registered as an Engineer with ECSA                                          
• 8+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification                   

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited University
