    Actuarial Specialist

    Role Purpose    

    • An opportunity exists for an Actuarial Specialist within the Actuarial Valuations team that focuses on the Momentum Corporate product range. The individual will be responsible for the valuation of the Smooth Bonus Portfolio, With Profit Annuity portfolio and the Investment Guarantee reserves relating to these portfolios.
    • The core responsibility will be to calculate and interpret the Regulatory capital for this product range however this individual will also be involved in assisting in the development of new systems and functionality for Actuarial reporting as well as project work such as IFRS17 operationalization.

    Requirements    

    • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial or Business Science essential.
    • Close to qualification/qualified – if not qualified, completion of the Core technical and Actuarial risk management (A311/CA1) is a must, possessing the Life Specialist Technical exam (F102/ST2) will be a distinct advantage.
    • At least 2 years Life Valuations experience with a specific focus on SAM capital calculations highly preferred.
    • A good understanding of Corporate Products will be a distinct advantage.
    • Experience with stochastic models as well as experience with the complexities of running bespoke technical models essential.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel/VBA capabilities required.
    • Programming and development experience in the following languages: Python and SQL

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Owning the financial reporting duties for the Smooth Bonus and With Profit Annuity portfolios.
    • Production of the quarterly Regulatory capital reporting, including an analysis of change
    • Calculation of Investment Guarantee Reserves
    • Calculation of management actions for Smooth Bonus and Dynamically Hedged products.
    • Providing the reporting information required for the ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment)
    • Involvement in the communication of the results to various stakeholders
    • Assisting with capital calculations for purposes of pricing new products
    • Stress testing and scenario analysis
    • Assisting with the various statutory returns and other compliance-related tasks
    • Interacting with a wide range of stakeholders such as asset managers, marketing managers, accountants, product development staff and policy administrators
    • Develop, maintain and improve systems and processes required to do financial reporting with a key focus on migrating existing Excel models into SQL.
    • Developing an understanding of APN 110 Python models.
    • Working alongside Senior Actuaries to operationalize IFRS 17 for the portfolios mentioned above
