    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
    • To check all relevant required documents is received eg correct application forms, valid bank statement, signed quote
    • Ability to ensure compliance check is completed
    • To capture NB applications
    • To capture on Quality centre any possible fix or system issues such as match the rates to NB quote
    • Request outstanding information either telephonically or email
    • To issues NB quotes
    • Follow up on outstanding requirements
    • Maintain SLA within processing pools
    • Make recommendations for improvements to the system used in the department and testing system functionality after enhancements are made to the system

    Database Administrator (Senior)

    About the Job

    SQL Database Services

    • SQL Database Services are responsible for all SQL Databases for the Discovery Group of Companies, both local and internationally. The division is responsible for the full lifecycle of SQL Services, from assisting Business Strategy by Architecting Solutions, to Implementation, and Operational Management and Support. This lifecycle is managed regardless of the Database being on-prem or in the cloud.
    • The services are expanding to offer other DB solutions using cloud databases, such as PostgreSQL.
    • The team also maintains instances of Oracle Audit Vault for the business.

    Key Purpose

    • Responsible for SQL Server implementation, configuration, support, and administration of database management systems including documentation of standards, business requirements, access controls and backup and recovery. Resolves incidents and problems related to the SQL Server environment. Working with Software Licensing team to ensure cost effective solutions.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    • Design, implement and maintain SQL Server database systems, working with software developers, architects and infrastructure engineers to create optimized and scalable solutions.
    • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server from architecture to administration including design, development, and optimization of SQL Server databases, including Failover Clustering, Always On Availability groups and Replication
    • Provide technical leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of database technologies to assist business units in meeting strategic objectives
    • Perform database monitoring and performance tuning tasks including the design of optimization and indexing schemes
    • Assist in determining the effectiveness of existing technologies and processes in relation to the SQL Server implementation, create necessary implementation/migration plans, and recommend new solutions as required
    • Perform production support administration tasks including proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, tracing, backup, recovery, and on-call support to ensure availability and performance requirements are met.
    • Assist with coordination of annual disaster recovery exercises and remediate issues.
    • Understand and adhere to the Discovery’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
    • Collaborates, coordinates and cohesively works with other DBAs and Applications/ Business teams to support enterprise applications
