    SHEQ Champion

    Responsibilities :

    • Perform NERSA Annual reporting requirements and maintain the terminals NERSA Allocation Mechanisms.
    • Steward LPS reporting for the BU including coordinating NLI review meetings.
    • Liaison between SHEQ and Logistics
    • Timeous deployment of SHEQ processes
    • Maintain SHEQ Management Document System for the BU
    • Perform SHEQ Assessments as per schedule
    • SHEQ Internal and External audit coordination including action plans tracked to closure

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    Work Experience:

    • Operational experience (3 years minimum), preferably petroleum industry.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Technical skills – terminal operations experience (advantageous);
    • Project/Program management experience;
    • Strong influencing and communication skills;
    • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point;
    • ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards knowledge.

    Instrumentation Technician

     

    Job Description:

    Assists mechanical/electrical engineers with special projects, equipment modifications, et cetera. Assists with the development and testing of machinery and equipment under direction of engineering and scientific staff. Drafts detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet metal or wood shops.

    Work Experience - Responsibilities / Duties:

    Key Job Responsibilities for Instrumentation & Analyzer Technician may include but are not limited to the following:

    • Conducts basic field instrumentation & analyser repairs in area of responsibility.
    • Carries out first line instrument & complex analyzer faultfinding, troubleshooting and maintenance activities, troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
    • Conducts PMs (Preventive Maintenance) - works with Systems Technician in analyzing instrument equipment worst actors in area of responsibility.
    • Writes up repair notes on completion of work for entry into Computerized Maintenance Management System.
    • Assists assigned teams with trouble-shooting during 5-Why investigations and provides input to the group.
    • Assists in developing Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS) method statements and procedures for basic repair work.
    • Provides assistance to systems technicians, during routine ESD (Emergency Shut Down) tests.
    •  Performs Safety Risk assessments independently, prior to commencing any work activity and participates in daily Safety discussions. 
    • Conducts Loss Prevention Observations (LPO's) and actively participates in loading tools on Isometrix system.
    • Participates in the Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) processes involving instruments and analyzer equipment, where required.
    • Stroke checks control valves and adjusts settings as required.
    • Blow down level chambers and calibrate level transmitters
    • Set up vibration probes
    • Utilize Highway Addressable Remote Transmitter (HART) protocol communicators for basic setup of transmitters
    • Do impulse line reseal of Differential Pressure (DP) flowmeters and levels
    • Flange management
    •  Carries out complex analyzer fault finding, troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
    • Assists with repair recommendations and maintenance of analyzer records for input into CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
    • Performs periodic after hours standby duties, duration 1 week, as determined by number of  Technicians available on the standby roster. 
    • Ability to read and interpret various instrument drawings including isometric drawings and P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
    • Competent to conduct detailed faultfinding on laboratory and field analyzer equipment
    • Basic working knowledge of Refinery production and processing technology.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Setting parameters and calibrating various instruments and analyzers
    • Strip and assemble control valves.
    • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs
    • Total Organic Analyzer
    • Turbidity  analyzer
    • Sulphur in Diesel analyzer
    • Sound troubleshooting skills on various instrumentation and analyzer technologies
    • Awareness of gas chromatography(GC), H2S monitoring, pH measurement, Oxygen, Opacity and Moisture analysers
    • Process Analysers theory
    • Electronics theory
    • Flanges, Transmitters, Differential Pressure (DP) Flowmeters and levels, Vibration probes, level chambers and level transmitters, Control valves, safety instruments.
    • Able to identify Bad/Worst Actors in partnership with SME's
    • Assists in developing Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS) and procedures for basic repair work.

    Team Lead - Process Safety Management (PSM)

     

    Job Description:

    • Responsible for the Management of Astron Energy Process Safety Management (PSM) group, reporting to Technical Services Manager. Position includes the Quality Assurance and Risk management functions. Co-ordinates the implementation of Operational Excellence Management System across the Refinery.
    • Provides Process Safety Management (PSM) leadership to a team, comprising of PSM Operational Assistants, Risk management & MOC advisor, Safety Instrumented Systems advisor, Assurance & Incident Investigation & Reporting (IIR) advisor.
    • Develops PSM technical plans aligned to Astron energy strategic objectives. Provide overall guidance and management of the PSM processes and systems at the Cape Town refinery.
    • Lead the Astron Energy PSM Community of Practice (CoP) lead to ensure planned improvements are understood and planned for.
    • As Astron Energy PSM OE Process Advisor, deliver on OE expectations Ensure alignment with Astron Energy
    • Develops team organizational & technical capability
    • Establishes and manages PSM OPEX budget
    • Develop appropriate metrics for the Refineries in conjunction with SHEQ OE LT and Astron Energy leadership, and lead monitoring and review
    • Identify best practices by working with Operating Company (OPCO) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and other Refinery OE/PSM Managers that can help with more efficient implementation.

    Experience:

    • Bachelor in Engineering or equivalent with 10 years petrochemical operations, maintenance, technical or HES experience. With NEBOSH Process Safety Management Certificate being advantageous.
    • This is a subject matter expert ( SME) who is an accomplish leader and advocate on process safety and troubleshooting.

    Sales & Marketing Domain Architect

    The Sales & Marketing Domain Architect is responsible for providing domain knowledge and working alongside the Enterprise Architect in creating the architecture that describes how Sales & Marketing IT components are combined to meet retail front office and back office requirements and capabilities. It is a multi-disciplinary role guiding business, retailers and IT teams to meet project objectives; executing on the IT and Enterprise Architecture (EA) strategy taking a long term view that incorporates IT innovation and digital in the design approach. The main deliverable of the domain architect is to support the EA and BRM to ensure selection and deployment of IT solutions that are fit for purpose; support business needs; future proofed; cost efficient; flexible and sustainable.

    • Support the Sales & Marketing BRM and the Enterprise Architect by enforcing adherence to IT standards, policies and governance frameworks and execute the long term IT and EA roadmap and strategy
    • Work alongside other architects to make long-term, strategic decisions to support the Astron Energy vision and mission
    • Support sales and marketing business partners and project management teams; to deliver projects on time; on budget and to specification (solution)
    • Provide consultancy services to assist business and IT teams during RFI; RFP; project scoping; project budgeting and high level conceptual design specifically Contract & Project Management
    • Ensure compliance to Astron Energy Group IT standards; architecture principles and standards
    • Conduct feasibility assessments where requested for proposed application implementations or changes
    • Advise, manage and plan for all key technology decisions and changes required
    • Support development of solution delivery time, resource and cost estimates

    • Review solutions after the development and testing phases to ensure that “As Designed” and “As Built” solutions are aligned; rectify design documentation if required
    • Identify out of compliance solutions and propose rectification actions
    • Scan marketplace for innovative and over-the-horizon energy, retail and digital trends and technologies; convert these into business proposals
    • Participate in IT response teams during major IT incidents (system outage / cyber security)
    • Facilitate good corporate governance with specific focus on IT governance

    Professional Qualification and Certifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • TOGAF or similar architecture certification desirable

     Work Experience

    • 10 or more years IT experience in a retail or petro chemical environment including forecourt and pump technologies, ATG’s, POS, Card transaction switching, VAS, Loyalty, Flexilane, TRACs Experience

    Knowledge and skills

    • Strong strategic planning capabilities – to effectively partner with the sales and marketing support leadership team, the sales and marketing BRM and EA 
    • Deep understanding of the retail technology stacks to include OS, DB, middleware, application layer, OT, IoT, virtualisation, and cloud technologies

    Data & Analytics Architect

    The Data and Information Architect is responsible for defining the current and future state of Astron Energy’s information and data architecture, and achieve the future state through initiatives and projects. The Data and Information Architect leads the business and IT initiatives to improve the quality of information and data to enable agile business decisions based on high quality information and data. This role will ensure the organisation data is captured, stored and securely accessed and controlled through appropriate mechanisms, to enable and promote a next generation data-centric organisation.

    • Support the Chief Enterprise Architect by enforcing adherence to IT and data standards, policies and governance frameworks; execute the long term EA roadmap
    • Identify information needs, types of content crucial to business operations and prioritise; Identify and implement KPIs to continuously measure quality, improvements, uniqueness and timeliness of data to ensure continued achievement of business goals
    • Educate business and IT on data, information and analytics policies and governance where appropriate
    • Lead business and IT initiatives to improve the quality of information and data to enable agile business decisions based on high quality information and data

    Job Description:

    • Accountable for effectively performing duties as assigned in accordance with the respective policy and procedure. These relate to the control and capturing of transactional data, monitoring of control reports on the SAP, EDI, Fuelfacs / Stock Control and the subsequent filing, scanning and control of supporting documentation.
    • Responsible for the daily execution and balancing of Stock Control in the Terminal and to ensure that the Terminal comply with the Stock Control Standard, SAP, EDI and FuelFACS policies and procedures.
    • Accountable for performing the following critical tasks with emphasis on accuracy and quality: Daily/Weekly/Monthly inventory
    • reconciliation. Out of tolerance inventory loss/gain investigations.. Explanations and execution of corrective action
    • Collaborates with terminal management (TM) in addressing gaps and trends from Stock Control Administrative reviews. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and “open” items from Audits are closed in prescribed time.
    • Handling and processing of Joint Venture accounts.
    • Fosters compliance culture at the facility through effective execution of all administration controls which      include but are not limited to: Hauler Payments. User Access. Segregation of Duties. SOX controls. RTS, JRNL’s and Credit/Debit notes

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Grade 12 and Tertiary Qualification in Management Accounting

    Work Experience:

    • 1-3 years invoicing experience, terminal operations management, financial knowledge and ability to manage external relationships
    •  Experience in the petrochemical industry
