    Regulatory Affairs Associate Manager, Africa Sub-Saharan

    What you'll be doing:

    • Working largely independently in large/multiple markets in Africa Sub-Saharan region ensuring regulatory aspects are dealt with effectively and accurately, although in cases of complex, sensitive or strategic issues would make reference to a more senior professional. Ensures that Avon complies with country and industry regulations and that the interests of the company are protected at all times. Provides regulatory guidance for business initiatives within the markets covered minimizing the risk of non-compliance with all aspects of regulations. Participates and represents Avon’s interests in professional business and sector associations.
    • Ensures the effective management of working relations in matrix organization and provides support to Head of Regulatory Affairs, Middle East and Africa for all new product initiatives, geographical analysis and legislation implementation within Avon within the responsibility area.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Providing regulatory strategic direction to the South Africa commercial business  the context of Regulatory requirements that include product registration/notification, advertising & claim support, legislation monitoring & compliance and government affairs.  Ensuring both upwards and downwards communication flow.  Provides strategic planning and vision for the African markets.
    • Provides strategic anticipation of potential Regulatory developments that impacting the entire portfolio in sub-Saharan Africa region using a strong internal and external network (in particular for those markets with no local Regulatory associates).  Working with Regional, Global and local teams as appropriate ensures appropriate business awareness of regulatory developments.   Provides active Government relations leadership within Africa sub-Saharan region for regulatory issues building corporate relations with key Associations, Government and 3rd party notification/certification agencies as appropriate, (following NCTO Ethics & Compliance policy). Is proactively involved in lobbying and commenting processes to support business during legislative development within the cluster markets.
    • Provides business focused regulatory leadership for New Market entry or Business model evolution projects including engaging with governmental bodies to ensure company obligations are clearly identified and compliance process implemented with minimum business impact.
    • Responsible for Regulatory compliance for Avon’s and Justine’s entire product portfolio in SA and other African sub-Saharan markets in all areas of technical regulation related to Products. Partner to the Management teams of SA  is involved in strategic business projects and Regulatory developments. Accountable for the on-time delivery of compliant products. Actively participates in the local Management Boards, Business reviews etc as appropriate.
    • Takes appropriate action to avoid or resolve regulatory issues and developments with minimal business impact. Ensures full and complete implementation of regulatory changes through leadership of matrix projects ensuring development and documentation of agreed processes to maintain future compliance.

    TMEA Procurement Lead of OV CM & Beauty Plus

    What you'll be doing:

    • You are responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategy for the Beauty and Beauty+ categories and ensure delivery of best procurement value and supply risk mitigation.
    • You will be required to provide overall ownership of the procurement leadership in the category across all countries in scope while leading a team of category specialists/analysts.
    • Ensure delivery of consistent and sustainable best value strategic sourcing and supply in the relevant markets, whilst ensuring alignment to Regional and Global Strategies to support al business requirements.
    • Manage procurement spend of ~$16m across TMEA Cluster.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Strategic Thought Support 

    • Develop and implement approved long term category strategies in collaboration and alignment with the global categories and business requirements.
    • Lead key negotiations to establish commercial contracts in line with DOA and deliver business value.
    • In line with agreed global or regional Procurement strategies and mandates, develop and lead Avon’s relationships with its external supplier base and regulatory authorities within the assigned geographies.
    • Collaborate with business and functional stakeholders to deliver an enhanced value through detailed TCO and commodity strategy reviews.
    • Lead strategic sourcing projects and RFX processes and leverage any synergies with business and global procurement to drive innovation and savings.
    • Conduct comprehensive supply market analyses to evaluate opportunities for supply, risk management, in-depth understanding of cost drivers, benchmarking, and innovation trends for VE options.
    • Collaborate with centres of Excellence and the Supply base to construct should cost models and value chain optimisation solutions.
    • Accountable for leading the sourcing team across the cluster and ensuring procurement goals and governance target are delivered.
    • Provide budgetary input for ACM and quarterly cost books forecast.
    • Ensure category approval decisions are in line with the GPP and the DOA by developing comprehensive business cases prior to approval of contracts.
    • Lead supply management with strategic and critical supplier with regular fact-based and objective reviews.

    Aligning multiple Teams in a Category / Cluster 

    • Align multiple category teams’ goals, priorities, and deliverables to those of the overall business/category in order to meet the required ongoing innovation, delivery, service, cost & quality targets.
    • Translate business strategies into long-term category/cluster sourcing and supply strategies.
    • Ensure that defined category/cluster sourcing targets are tracked and achieved on time, to budget.
    • Ensure that suppliers and internal Avon category/cluster team members adhere to Avon’s business policies.
    • Provide support to the Head of Procurement TMEA.

    Supplier Relationship 

    • In line with agreed global sourcing strategies and delegated mandates, develop and lead Avon’s relationships with its external supplier base and regulatory authorities as this may relate to assigned categories.
    • Ensure suppliers meet Avon’s quality, innovation, service level performance, cash, and pricing requirements.
    • Review and action results of core supplier scorecards and agreements.
    • Ensure strategies are created and implemented for continuous joint improvement.
    • Manage assigned expenses within annual budget expectations.
    • Provide input to annual performance measure to enhance category team performance.
    • Key metrics for sourcing organization effectiveness; establish clear and measurable goals that challenge sourcing to continuously improve using financial and quantitative data to manage; direct and develop sourcing process disciplines and management systems necessary to achieve objectives.

    JOB FACTORS

     Work Experience:

    • 10+ years’ professional experience in Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain Management.
    • Relevant industry and market experience.
    • Experience in the cosmetics industry preferred.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree -minimum requirement (Masters, CIPS, BCom Supply Chain, CMA preferable).
