    Operator: Artisan

    • As a Operator Artisan at Nestlé, you’re responsibility is to ensure efficiency of Noodles lines by operating and executing maintenance on the wrappers and printing system efficiently. Also to  ensure that packaged product complies with the set quality standards and must meet all material specification of that particular product, maintain plant and machinery equipment and to work as part of the team to attain departmental objectives by ensuring a high quality of products, services, housekeeping and hygiene standards.

    A day in the life of Operator: Artisan

    • Perform preventative maintenance and technical inspection on the wrapper                                                        
    • Accountable for Quality control during  packing (e.g.  leaky packets, sealing integrity, packets without tastemaker etc.) &  laminate and TM inventory status report.
    • Record  the operational parameter's information and downtime on the production control sheet & ensure traceability of products                                             
    • Accountable for CCP/OPRP checks and handling CCP/OPRP rejections. Maintain Final Net weight and ensure it is as per legislation and  net weight Guidelines as per defined intervals.
    • Adhere to machine safety standards ( without any bypass ) using right PPE & keeping surrounding clean to avoid any potential accident. Comply to LOTO Modes.
    • Operate, Control, monitor and troubleshoot wrappers and printing system in line with SOP  to ensure good packaging and coding

    QA Analyst (Microbiologist)

    Main Purpose

    • Maintaining product quality by ensuring that all products produced at the factory level comply with quality requirements. Co-ordinates sensory sessions and release, rework, and final product in a timely manner such that on-time release targets are met. Maintain recording of ICPs and ensure that GLP is always adhered to.

    A day in the life of Quality Assurance Analyst:
    Sensory

    • Ensure sensory best practice is adhered to during sensory sessions
    • Ensure that the correct reference samples are available for use for all products
    • Co-ordinate sensory sessions and release of FP on a daily basis and update attendance register daily
    • Conduct ICPs for the main lab on a daily basis 
    • Conducts spiking of FP panel weekly and update the spiking performance tracking spreadsheet
    • Maintain selection of standard approval samples across all products
    • Verify that condensate sample is analyzed swiftly and communicate out of norm to industrial services
    • Verify that inline sensory is conducted for both cremora and noodles daily ensuring sensory best practice is adhered to.
    • Assist in product quality investigations                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
    • Assist in achieving Factory objectives through line verification in filling and pack                    

    Microbiology (when required)

    • Preparation of the sample, analysis and reporting of results stated turnaround time (Depending on product category) according to a strict work planning and GLP.
    • Pathogen Monitoring – Take swabs in the factory and perform analysis as per sampling plan.
    • Ensure that pathogen monitoring plan is up-to-date and complies to relevant standards.
    • Analysis of samples: prepare required media. Perform required analysis of samples, reports results within allocated time frame.
    • Communicate and participate in investigations for out of norm results.
    • Verification of pathogen monitoring plan compliance and share gaps with FSS.
    • Conduct weekly hygiene inspection in the plant and conduct plant release when required.
    • Proficiency Testing:
    • Participate in “P” tests- Mixed microbes (e.g. “L”, “S”).
    • Maintenance and calibration:
    • Maintains equipment (services) and arrange for defects/faulty equipment to be repaired. Maintain records of repairs/calibrations/analytical method control.

    Product Re-evaluation

    • Set up finished product samples for re-evaluation
    • 2nd exam sampling in warehouse when required
    • Assist in rework release 

    General

    • Compile sensory trial reports
    • Prepare and evaluate industrial batch samples
    • Preparation of retention samples for consumer complaints evaluations
    • Labelling of retention samples and storing on shelves in sequence                                                                                                                                             
    • Evaluate KQ samples at correct defined intervals

    Sensory best practise / ICP

    • Ensure sensory best practise is maintained in main labs
    • Conduct daily calibration checks for the scales
    • Verify coding in finished product
    • Implement new methods when LI’s are updated
    • Ensure sensory equipment and facilities are clean, tidy, and operational

    What will make you successful?

    • Bachelors’ Degree/Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/Chemistry/Food Technology/Biotechnology
    • 1-2 Years’ experience in a lab environment and quality assurance
    • Fulfill the roles and requirements of the micro, chemistry and sensory lab when required

    Technical Assistant

    Position Summary

    • The successful incumbent will assume full electrical responsibility throughout the factory during all production periods and planned maintenance on respective plants/lines. He/she will provide support to the production team on electrical engineering issues in their respective plants/lines. Consult the respective section engineers and or technical assistants on maintenance, CAPEX, and other engineering related issues on their respective plants. Support the electrical engineer in bulk power supply services, electrical maintenance, projects, breakdowns, compliance, and energy improvement initiatives etc. He/she will make sure operation of the plant is in an efficient manner by regular inspections, planning and scheduling of electrical maintenance throughout the plant. Will be required to manage a team of electricians daily.

    Long Description

    • Management of staff- ensure subordinates are adequately trained to carry out own functions, performance management reports and manage attendance profiles of subordinates.

    • Will be required to manage a team of electricians daily and support them in resolving day to day breakdowns and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and breakdown analysis (BDA) daily.
    • Plan and assign daily electrical corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance tasks.
    • Monitor the repetitive breakdowns in the factory and implement engineering solutions to eliminate/minimize breakdowns in the factory.
    • Lead, participate and support in the plant’s performance improvement projects, cost savings initiatives and energy efficiency improvements.
    • Contribution to the efficient operation of plant by regular inspections, monitoring and analyzing of MSA results and line efficiencies (SAM reporting).
    • Exercise functional control on activities and housekeeping of departmental workshops.
    • Investigate opportunities for energy and water saving.
    • Implement and maintain full TPM step process for assigned Cost Centre Lines.  Including the identification and stock holding level of spare parts.  Preventative maintenance scheduling.  Generation and control of maintenance “check lists”.
    • Provision of multi-disciplinary support during all production periods to ensure equipment availability and efficient.
    • Implement hygienic engineering principles where applicable.
    • Carry out regular inspections and action any defects.
    • Active participation in daily production review meetings and weekly production scheduling meetings.

     What will make you successful

    • Electrician trade test/red seal
    • N6 technical diploma in electrical engineering from a technical college or national diploma from a Technikon with more than five (05) years’ experience.
    • A minimum of at least two (02) years’ experience as an electrical foreman or electrical supervisor or electrical overseer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment/preferably FMCG will be an added advantage.
    • Registration with department of labour as an installation electrician/wireman’s license.
    • Registration as a master installation electrician with the department of labour will be an added advantage.
    • Electrical foreman certificate will be an added advantage.
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure, good communication skills and a team player
    • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, good knowledge of AMM, Kronos, and SAP

    Trainee Consumer Feedback & Sensory Specialist

    Main Purpose

    • The Trainee Consumer Feedback and Sensory Specialist will Investigate consumer complaints with team and respond timely to Consumer Services department. Identify root cause and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Evaluate effectiveness of preventive actions. Maintain consumer complaint statistics, apply Pareto analysis, identify the top 5 main contributors to Consumer complaints and trigger improvement projects.     • The  Trainee Consumer Feedback and Sensory Specialist will be responsible for the following:

    Consumer Feedback

    • Investigate consumer complaints and perform Root Cause Analysis                                                
    • Discuss consumer complaints with operators in formal sessions and solicit for bottom-up proposals to reduce and eliminate complaints                                                
    • Develop and maintain the monthly consumer complaint statistics by product group and variant
    • Analyze Complaint data & draw trends at the end of every month and submit to the Factory QA Manager.                                    

    Sensory

    • Develop a competent group of tasters across functions to carry out the In-Out tasting for raw materials, semi-finished - and finished products.
    • Recruitment, screening, training, and managing of Sensory panels.
    • Triangle testing – when the process or an ingredient has changed to identify if there is a significant difference.
    • Standard approval – when a new standard has to be selected a triangle test has to be performed to proof similarity.
    • Keeping Quality tests should be conducted, recorded and shared with the application group.

    Technical Assistance

    • Assist in the developing of corrective actions.                                         

    People Development    

    • Raise the awareness in the factory on consumer complaints and sensitize staff.
    • Check panel performance of each panel at least once per year & re-train panelists who need further training.

    What will make you successful?

    • Minimum 2-3 years in a technical field, preferably food manufacturing
    • Minimum tertiary degree/diploma in Food Science, Food Technology or equivalent
    • SAP experience advantageous
    • Power BI experience essential and advanced excel skills essential

    End to End Team Leader

    Main Purpose

    • The Team Leader manages a designated team, plant and materials in a culture of performance monitoring, review and action, open communication, employee involvement and employee relations, continuous improvement in support of achieving organization mission and objectives.

    A day in the life of a End to End Team Leader

    • Control of Production Scheduling and Planning
    • Manage weekly MPS and Monthly production Plan
    • Break down weekly MPS into daily shifts.
    • Monitor on a daily basis any deviations from scheduling and supply and reasons for it.
    • Analyze shop floor reports, take appropriate actions and report to plant manager on a daily basis.
    • Attend all meetings relevant to the above

    Plant Performance/Efficiency Management

    • Analyze output/efficiency (SAM) on a shift basis and take the appropriate action
    • Ensure compliance with all output recording procedures

    Budget /variance control

    • Assist in the calculation of budget losses.
    • Organize daily/weekly cycle counting of ingredients, packaging, WIP and finished products.                                    

    Management of HR

    • Identify all training needs for the line crew and conduct or arrange training when and where required.
    • Arrange line crewing, including labour transfers and contract works.
    • Ensure full familiarization with current labour Legislation                           

    Implementation of NQS

    • Analyze LP forms and take appropriate action (reduction of filling losses and legal compliance)
    • Ensure that release parameters are complied with and the release procedure is followed.

    Safety, Loss and Control Management

    • Ensure that all OHASA regulations are adhered to.
    • Ensure that all environmental regulations are complied to.

    Innovative and Improvement

    • Promote Continuous Improvement and seek new and improved methods of working in order to increase efficiency in the overall production process
    • Manage Teamwork to ensure continuous improvement of all activities and resources within the organization."
