    Superintendent Occupational Health and Hygiene - South32, Hotazel Manganese Mines

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role is to govern and continuously improve the HMM Occupational Health and Hygiene Standard and associated procedures to ensure the effective management of health & hygiene risks, fitness for work, Worker’s Compensation, injury management, and crisis emergency management.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a bachelor’s degree (Environmental Health/ Science/ Similar) with a minimum of 5 experience within the Hygiene function at a specialist level in mining or heavy industry;
    • Experience in leading effective teams of 5+ for a minimum of 3 years together with SAIOH registered as Occupational Hygienist / Mineral Council Advanced Environmental Certificate;
    • In-depth knowledge of hygiene management processes and technologies and relevant industry standards (e.g. OSHA, Mineral Council, and MHSA);
    • Sound understanding of Injury Management processes and Crisis emergency management;
    • In-depth understanding and practical application of key concepts, theories, and practices related to the effective management of Occupational Health and/or Hygiene;
    • Experience in identifying issues, analyzing data, and recommending practical improvement solutions.
       

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Lead and demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development through personal behaviors and leadership;
    • Maintain open and efficient communication channels across HMM to share knowledge, experience, and expertise;
    • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving HMM Occupational Health & Hygiene management standards, procedures, tools, and programs to enable the operations to effectively manage occupational Health & Hygiene risk and outcomes, including incorporating regulatory changes or industry learnings;
    • Accountable for reviewing and maintaining the Occupational Hygiene Assessment Program;
    • Accountable for annually reviewing and maintaining the Health Surveillance Program to incorporate changes from the Occupational Hygiene Assessment Program and changing internal and external requirements;
    • Accountable for maintaining Occupational Health & Hygiene risks in accordance with the Risk Management Standard;
    • Accountable for the timely certification of medical assessments (New starter, periodic, and exiting) and management of the medical record database and wellness program.

    Supervisor Production Execution Reduction - South32, Richards Bay

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of the role is to manage and lead a Reduction Pot line production team, supervise a diverse production team, actively manage planned and unplanned tasks to be completed during shift by initiating action, analyzing and interpreting production results, as well as identify and assess deviations to improve maximum plant availability and operational stability.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Engineering with minimum of 3 years' production/process experience;
    • Valid Trade Test is advantageous;
    • Computer literacy (MS Office/SAP/MES) is and added advantage;
    • Previous Supervisory experience is an added advantage for internal application;
    • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience for external candidates is essential.

    • You will promote team effectiveness and motivate subordinates to achieve operational team objectives;

    • In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring best practice in health, safety, environment, quality and housekeeping standards in your section by facilitating adherence and compliance with all regulations and procedures.
