    Micro Battle Lead Mining

    Short Description / Purpose of Job:

    • Lead all aspects of the processes to develop category strategies to optimize Sasol’s external spend for the mining equipment and services commodities.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities:

    • Lead and oversee the development and implementation of strategies for the category in order to realise increased business value for Sasol by leveraging external spend through a total cost of ownership reduction approach.
    • Typical spend optimization levers will include both operational and commercial levers.
    • Lead cross-functional and cross-divisional project/task teams for external spend optimization.
    • Prepare for and lead negotiations of high value / strategic contracts to unlock external spend savings in collaboration with team members from regional maintenance hubs and commercial specialists.
    • Analyse the stakeholder landscape and proactively manage relationships to ensure support for and participation in processes to develop and implement external spend optimisation strategies.
    • Oversee and coordinate the implementation of operations improvement levers identified during the Win phase of external spend optimization microbattles.
    • Ensure that Sasol’s business transformation imperatives (BBBEE compliance, industry sector-specific transformation charters, etc.) are supported and enabled when identifying and implementing external spend optimization initiatives.
    • Drive procurement efficiency improvement and risk reduction by implementing effective methods to maximise 'on-contract' and automated spend within the category.

    Formal Education:

    • 4+-year University Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining)
    • MBA / MBL (Wish)

    Min Experience:

    • 10+ relevant years in technical, procurement or commercial roles with 5+ in a management role.

    Senior Specialist/Principal Specialist Category x6

    Short Description / Purpose of Job:

    • Ability to combine thinking strategically with acting on a tactical/operational level in order to perform business analysis, risk assessment, scenario planning and draw conclusions to support the right business decisions to identify and capture cost opportunities and deliver excellent results by within a highly performing team for the respective commodity groupings.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities:

    • Act as a leading contributor to the design, development and implementation of commodity strategies. 
    • Lead the development of relevant scope of work aligned to internal user requirements.
    • Plan, lead and execute detailed spend analytics (e.g., key cost driver identification, should cost models, price variance analysis, offer comparisons, vendor spend allocation scenarios modelling), including gathering relevant data from various sources. 
    • Contribute to the vision of the future supplier landscape, supplier characterization and onboarding needs for new suppliers.
    • Execute continuous value delivery through optimization of Scope of Work, increased vendor productivity, SLAs rightsizing, specifications and user requirements.
    • Lead development of sourcing strategy (e.g., identification of strategic imperatives based on business, commercial requirements and savings targets).
    • Support or lead part of the end-to-end negotiations process (preparation, team assembly, stakeholders buy-in, orchestration, messaging, actual delivery).

    • Manage contract lifecycle activities and administration (contract adherence, reviews, annual amendments, contractual matters i.e. breach etc.).
    • Enable operational application of contracts and collection of business intelligence on contracts by performing required contract administration activities.

    Process Controller Gr 1/Gr 2

    Short Description / Purpose of Job

    • Efficient operation of the plant.
    • Adhere to all safety regulations and work standards.
    • Practice good housekeeping and plant cleaning.
    • Comply with legal requirements and be prepared to do physical and uncomfortable work as stipulated in the job description.
    • Process controller will be reporting to shift foreman and must adhere to foreman’s reasonable and safe instructions.
    • The successful candidate will work shifts and will be required to do shift cover.
    • Required outputs include, but are not limited to:
      • Physically monitor production processes.
      • Sample taking and laboratory analysis.
      • Loading of tankers
      • Operating production equipment (pumps, valves, reaction, absorption)

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Physically monitor production processes on plant and DCS.
    • Sample taking and analysis in plant lab.
    • Conduct visual inspections on the process and equipment.
    • Report process deviations to shift supervisor /foreman.
    • Compile relevant area shift report during and at the end of shift.
    • Examine equipment and complete all required checklists as per job description.
    • Report all risk behaviors and unsafe conditions to shift foreman/line manager.
    • Take plant samples to the laboratory.
    • Maintain required housekeeping standards by cleaning, washing, collecting, etc.
    • Adhere and apply standard operating procedures and work instructions.
    • Understand equipment failure modes and defect identification and reporting.
    • Demonstrate understanding of how equipment functions, e.g. valves and pumps and different types of valves and pumps.
    • Conduct basic fault-finding and problem solving.
    • Attend and contribute to daily assurance meetings / toolbox talks.
    • Attend and contribute to shift SHE meetings.
    • Conduct plant inspections.
    • Conduct safety management system inspections e.g. OSHA, ISO 14000/18000/9001.
    • Conduct pre-task risk assessments.
    • Must be able to work under pressure.
    • Perform safe-making and prepare plant for maintenance.
    • Work together with other departments to ensure plant is operational.
    • Complete all required log sheets and logbooks on the plant.

    Requirements

    • Related plant operational experience required.
    • Experience in a production environment (must).
    • Experience within a petrochemical / chemical industry will be an advantage.
    • Required to continue with further training and development (NQF4, QTCO)

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Grade 12 or N3 with English, Maths and Science (must).
    • NQF2 level 2 - Chemical operations occupational. (Process Controller Gr 1)
    • NQF level 3 - Chemical operations occupational. (Process Controller Gr 1)
    • Related plant operational experience will be a benefit.
    • Experience in a production environment (must).
    • Driver’s license (must).
