    BIS Administrator – IT & EA

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • Maintain and support end user computing and network environments

    BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)

    CUSTOMERS

    Customer Relations:

    • Render the right service first time
    • Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
    • Interact with customers and familiarise yourself with operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities (e.g. SHEQ, ISO, IT issues)

    Supplier Relations:

    • Liaise with IT suppliers and service providers as required

    BUSINESS PROCESSES

    Policies, Procedures:

    • Adhere to Group IT Policies, Procedures, Standards, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc.
    • Ensure adherence to business unit specific IT policies and procedures.

    Networks:

    • Attend to network availability and performance incidents
    • Support Radio Networks (RAN) with Service providers
    • Support uplinks to departmental office buildings
    • Support local area computer network (LAN) for a departmental office environment
    • Install and commission network switches
    • Manage network Service Providers

    Software:

    • Install, configure and maintain software in an end user computer environment
    • Install, configure and maintain Operating systems on end users computers
    • Upgrade software and operating systems to the latest available versions

    IT Security:

    • Provide education to users to bring about an understanding of IT security risks
    • Safeguard IT facilities and data (access control and environmental conditions)
    • Adhere to and apply IT security controls at end users environments

    • Investigate and resolve IT security related incidents (malware)

    Support:

    • Attend to and resolve assigned incidents
    • Monitor outstanding incidents within the team on a regular basis
    • Participate in the team to recommend solutions to problems
    • Liaise with service providers as required
    • Resolve or report IT operational problems that have been identified
    • Provide a 24hr support function (Standby duties):
    • Support Local and Wide area networks (First Line)
    • Support Systems and Infrastructure (First Line)
    • Support End user problems

    Procurement:

    • Obtain quotes for IT equipment
    • Liaise with vendors and follow-up
    • Receive IT equipment and process delivery notes

    IT Asset Management

    • Maintain the IT asset management systems
    • Maintain documentation for all IT Equipment
    • Coordinate repairs of IT equipment (3rd party vendors)

    Administration:

    • Conduct general administration in the IT Department (Filing, records, etc.)
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment (Offices, workshops)
    • Continuous improvement of customer satisfaction by means of surveying

    Energy Efficiency Superintendent

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To ensure implementation and monitoring of the company’s energy initiatives, standards and the energy recovery projects, in line with company strategy and statutory requirements. To control and follow up on all energy invoices.

    • Represent Samancor Chrome in industry energy forums as will be defined
    • Represent corporate body in HV focus group

    Project Management:

    • Support the energy recovery and base load generation projects in Electrical Project Superintendent capacity
    • Support and guide all electrical installation work on other major projects
    • Ensure that electrical standards are implemented on projects
    • Commissioning support and guidance for major projects

    Reporting:

    • Compile monthly, quarterly and annual Energy Reports
    • Report on projects as per project management requirement

    Business Unit Training Identification:

    • Identify training needs of personnel in plant and train especially in use of metering and controlling of Eskom billing

    Financial Management:

    • Monitor and Eskom invoicing and train plant personnel to control cost
    • Control project costs as per budget process and proper project management
    • Prepare and plan for Departmental Budgets

    Auditing:

    • Annual audits on protection equipment and reporting on all SCr sites
    • Annual transformer audits and reporting on all SCr sites

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Research new electrical technologies
    • Benchmark electrical technologies and standardise Best Practices  across all Business Units

    PSP Maintenance Artisan Electrician - Shift (Fixed Term)

    Description

    • To safely carry out preventive maintenance and repairs to the plant in line with planned, unplanned, breakdown and documented work

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

    Safety, Health, Environment and Quality:

    • Participate and comply with SHEQ Requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
    • Ensure adherence to health, safety, environment, risk and quality standards and requirements
    • Comply with OHSA standards, statutory regulations, conform to safety standards, housekeeping standards (5S) and planned maintenance system requirements

    • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering a first time right service to them 

    Business Processes:

    • Apply fault-finding techniques and assist with root cause failure analysis
    • Maintain and repair electrical parts, components and equipment as well as Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and High Voltage electrical equipment (as applicable to the plant)
    • Perform Medium and High Voltage switching as and when required when trained, proven competent and appointed in writing
    • Maintain, repair and replace mechanical parts, components and equipment when required
    • Execute breakdown work orders, create notifications, perform daily work order confirmations, provide accurate feedback and generate orders on the SAP system
    • Performing work in a safe and reliable manner ensuring the highest level of workmanship
    • Communicate if spares, equipment or other factors were not available for job on the work order and to the Maintenance Supervisor
    • Conduct regular plant inspection and report non-conformance and deviations to standards to Supervisors
    • Monitoring the operational conditions of machinery and equipment
    • Carrying out routine maintenance on a production equipment and tools to ensure legal (OSHA) and operational compliance
    • Work from heights and in confined spaces and follow the various procedures related to such
    • Perform general housekeeping as part of the relevant tasks allocated
