    Manager - Management Accounting (HAYBAND P: Senior Management) - Glenvista

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Rand Water is looking for a Manager Management Accounting to develop and implement all processes required in managing and evaluating the overall planning and coordination of Rand Water Group Budget and Financial Plan; Management of day to day activities of the Group budget whilst ensuring compliance with sound budgeting / accounting standards and practices; Implement and adapt to applicable policies, regulations and laws and may develop/institutes budgetary policies, control and procedural changes and improvements in development of Financial Plans that promotes and safeguards financial health and sustainability of the organisation; Provide management with Management Reports that enables sound financial decisions, and steers the organisation to achieving Financial targets.
    • The incumbent will also confer with and support the Rand Water Business Units, in strategic planning processes as a value steward and business partner in development of the annual budget, while maintaining strong positive working relationships with the units to perform and drive financial results; Analyse, review and make recommendations to budget requests and provides guidance to daily operational expenditure activities in line with policies, strategic programs and objectives of the organization; Analyse and provides timeous Management Reporting and Financial Performance information, that is relevant for decision making and provide recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.      

    Minimum Requirements    

    Essential qualifications are:

    • Bachelor degree (Honours) in Accounting and Finance Qualification

    Desirable qualifications

    • CA (SA), CIMA or equivalent Master’s degree advantageous
    • Experience: 10 Years’ experience in Accounting and Finance environments most specifically in Management Accounting, Managing Budgeting, Forecasting, Financial Analysis, Performance and management Reporting. Minimum 8 years’ experience in Management role in a Management Accounting/ or Financial Planning/Finance Business Partnering Function
    • Management Report Writing Skills
    • Computer Literate _ SAP Controlling , FI , HRM and other relevant modules, Budgeting Planning and Consolidation ( BPC)  Financial Accounting, Financial Modelling, Analysis and Trends, Advanced MS Excel, MS Power Point and Report writing Ms Word
    • Performance tracking systems for remote working

    Primary Duties    

    • Managing Four Management Accountants and their teams
    • Development and implementation of the overall planning processes and coordination of the Rand Water Group Budget and Financial plan
    • Guide, direct and manage day to day activity of the group budget
    • Establish and direct budgetary policy, controls and procedure changes in line with revised programs and objectives
    • Manage and provide financial advisory services to Rand Water Business units, Divisions Department and Sections and ensure appropriate support is provided in strategic financial planning, monitoring, reporting and all other financial advisory services
    • Provisions of management input into AFS and audit processes relating to financial performance information
    • Develop and direct Finance Business Partnering Processes focused on Customer service orientation (Internal and external)
    • Direct Management Accounting Reporting and Performance Reporting processes and output on monthly, quarterly and annual basis for internal and external purposes
    • Development and compliance with sound budgeting / accounting standards and practice with applicable and Rand Water policies, statutory and regulatory requirements
    • External stakeholder participation and contributions in relation to Medium term expenditure framework (MTEF), Estimates of National Expenditure (ENE) to National Treasury and input to Department Water & Sanitation (DWS) Quarterly reporting
    • Negotiate and provide input to Raw and Potable Tariffs with DWS, TCTA and Magalies Water
    • Manage Eskom finance stakeholders’ requirements; Lethabo and non-potable Tariff setting;
    • Management Accounting Reporting to Top Management Committee, EXCO, Audit and Board and sub committees of the Board
    • Assist in preparation of feedback to various stakeholders e.g. Parliament, DWS, NT, SALGA, investors Banks, etc.;
    • Approvals and Bank signatory to investments, medical aid, creditors, etc.
    • Financial advisory service to various committees; water quality, water demand etc.
    • Ensure compliance to relevant statutes such as National Treasury cost containment directives, IFRS , Water Services Act and Others

    Process Controller Filtration (A2 Operator) - Three Rivers East, Vereeniging

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Reporting to the Process Supervisor – Water Purification, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overseeing of the filtration process of water, to ensure compliance to water quality standards by monitoring and operating the filtration plant and equipment, monitoring water quality before and after filtration, disinfection of treated water and monitoring and operating the chlorine plants.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 
    • NQF 4/N3 National certificate in Water and Waste Water Treatment Process Control
    • National Diploma in Water Treatment Practice or equivalent will serve as an advantage.
    • Eligible to be a Class IV Process Controller
    • Two years’ plant experience.
    • Computer literate.
    • A valid Code B driver’s licence and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.
    • Physically fit and strong

    Primary Duties    

    • Monitor and control filter plant performance by compliance to water quality standards after filtration.
    • Operate filters within operational procedures. Monitoring of the filtration process via SCADA system ensuring compliance.  Back washing of filters manually as well as via SCADA system to ensure capacity and quality.
    • Sterilizing filters by taking filters out of commission for repairs, and maintenance in accordance to Rand Water procedures.
    • Operating chlorine plants (evaporators, chlorinators, injectors, compressors etc.) to ensure disinfection of potable water to prescribed standards.
    • Monitor chlorine plants to ensure compliance to operational and safety requirements.
    • Loading and offloading of chlorine cylinders to ensure sufficient stock on site.
    • Reporting of unsafe conditions which may result in injury or harm to Rand Water employees.
    • Report all chemical spills to Water Purification Supervisor
