    Technical Buyer

    Responsibilities:

    • Purchasing materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule and terms, negotiating with main suppliers and periodically renewing price lists, terms and conditions. Initiating purchase orders according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures.
    • Respond timeously according to importance, organisational priorities for all technical parts and spares requests made within the Group. 
    • Feedback given to internal client regarding the status of the request after sorting, organising according to priority.
    • Facilitate and prepare for tender board meetings as required.
    • Follow up on Quotations requested and ensure that the quotes requested are sent and delivered the same day.
    • Negotiates trade terms and discount structures with suppliers. 
    • Ensure technical suppliers’ conformance within the Group Supply Chain policy and procedures. Compliance with the delegation of authority, segregation of duties, and governance. Adherence to Group Supply Chain Policies
    • Critical evaluation of supplier service, delivery lead times and quality on a continuous basis. 
    • Deliver ongoing cost savings through the implementation of cost saving projects through the application of lean principles. 
    • Recommend new or alternative sources of supply by continually monitoring the supply market for new products or innovations according to standardisation and product testing procedures and by presenting to the Group Engineering Standards committee.
    • Manage the supplier relationship with regards to effective and frequent communication.
    • Ensuring timeous payment is made to supplier through correspondence with the Finance department.
    • Follow up on all Query invoices with suppliers. Resolve all queries on the statement with Finance
    • Ensure that all Supply Chain reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines.
    • Establish & maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Supply Chain Function. 
    • Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non compliance issues. 
    • Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report on non compliance issues
    • Effective Team Player and Effective Self-Management Management.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree or 3 year Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Supply Chain/Logistics or equivalent.
    • CIPS/APICS certification.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement with exposure to technical buying.
    • Computer literate in MS Office Suite.
    • Valid driver’s license.

     Advantage:

    • AccPac operating system experience or similar ERP system.
    • Technical engineering background with relevant qualification would be advantageous.

    Clerk of Works - Fixed Term Contract

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide subject matter expertise and  skills in area of responsibility; advising on solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the department/section.
    • Acts as a Company representative between Contractors. 
    • Assists the Project team to forecast labour, costs, materials and equipment.
    • Provide technical advice to contractors.
    • Responsible to draft scope of work
    • Plan and schedule allocated work taking into account customer requirements.
    • Develop and submit ongoing action plans
    • Inspect contractor equipment ensuring compliance with mine and legal standards.
    • Initiate orders for materials required in order to execute work.
    • Checks that all ordered items conform to mine design specifications/scope of work and ensures items are clearly labelled and corrected stored for future installations. Ensures deviations are corrected.
    • Responsible to perform site visits for potential contractors.
    • Monitor and control contractor performance according to plans and contracts.
    • Monitors and controls all mechanical/civil/electrical work pertaining to construction work done by contractors through daily inspections and instructs on fault finding and trouble shooting.
    • Perform on-the-job audits comparing work in progress against contractual requirements.
    • Inspects construction work daily, with respect to work standards and renders direction to contractors or others as required.
    • Ensures that all persons under his/her control strictly adhere to all requirements of relevant legislation, Company policies and departmental procedures by holding monthly safety meetings and keeping records.
    • Monitor contractor waste control and environmental aspects
    • Inspects construction work daily, with respect to housekeeping and safety, and renders direction to contractors or others as required.
    • Takes appropriate action on any unsafe acts and conditions and reports findings to supervisor.
    • Perform final handover inspections of completed work.
    • Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system within the operation
    • Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12.
    • N2 National Certificate.
    • Recognised Trade Test Certificate (Boilermaker or Fitter or Diesel Mechanic or Rigger or Electrician or Instrumentation Mechanician or Millwright). 
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant trade (post qualification).  
    • Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Boilermaker : Plant DMS

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide subject matter expertise and skills in area of responsibility; advising on solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the department/section.
    • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman.
    • Reports faults and unsafe conditions to the Central Control Room.
    • Participate in planning shutdowns (Planned maintenance), resources, tools and spares relevant to the shutdown activities.
    • Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure.
    • Responsible for the management of consumable stock levels (amongst others, spares and hydrocarbons).
    • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements. 
    • Assist Foreman in executing his/his duties as and when required
    • Conduct planned task observations.
    • Follow instructions as per job card and report any defects.
    • Perform de-energize and lock out of electrical / mechanical equipment as per company policy.
    • Conduct pipe development and welding of high pressure equipment as applicable.
    • Cut and weld components to repair and maintain steel constructions.
    • Fabricate steel fabrications by drawing, measuring, conducting layout and erecting structures.
    • Perform rigging activities within area of trained competency
    • Remove and replace components to maintain steel fabrications.
    • Responsible for conducting fault finding on default structures and deterring the steps to be taken to repair faults.
    • Responsible for painting steel fabrications.
    • Responsible for operating hand power tools.
    • Responsible for performing grinding activities.
    • Responsible for signing the mobile machinery pre-start logbooks.
    • Responsible for inspections and maintenance of all mechanical shaft equipment.
    • Responsible for good housekeeping in working area.
    • Provide input in preparing maintenance and inspection schedules.
    • Conduct maintenance planning.
    • Responsible for trade related administration.
    • Perform standby duties and attend to breakdowns.
    • Conduct on-the-job training for allocated apprentices.
    • Ensure that all Engineering reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
    • Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Engineering Function and operation.
    • Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
    • Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Vision and Values. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
    • Perform risk assessments (Mini) and participates in risk assessments (Activity based)
    • Provide Input to risk assessments, safe work procedures and Planned Task Observations, monitor, train, implement all codes of practice, policies, procedures, risk assessments and standards, and ensure all are in place for the effective management of safe working conditions in terms of related area of responsibilities and legal requirements.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Trade Certificate (Boilermaker) obtained through an accredited/recognised institution and via an apprenticeship.**
    • 3 years post Apprenticeship/Qualification experience (can be concurrent with the PDL trade experience)
    • Valid Drivers’ License
