    Foreman Engineering (Cullinan)

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Co-ordinate maintenance and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production targets.
    • Responsible to perform preventative maintenance and scheduled legal inspections on equipment and machinery.
    • Co-ordinate or support the implementation of the operational requirements of the mines environmental policy and procedure.
    • Responsible to minimize down-time and evaluate risk (i.e., Root Cause Analysis) in area of responsibility,
    • Responsible for Radiation Equipment as per Legal appointment in area of responsibility if applicable
    • Execute and approve administrative tasks, including applicable systems (e.g. Modern Flow, ESS, Xtime, Isometrix).
    • Responsible to ensure spares availability as per area of responsibility.  
    • Perform standby duties and attend to breakdowns.
    • Comply with requirements of various protocols at Department and company level. 
    • Responsible for investigating opportunities for improvement and developing, implementing, and controlling action plans to realise the improvements.
    • Oversee or facilitate the selection and utilisation of technical support services and logistics to optimise operational process.
    • Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise production delays.
    • Responsible to oversee the testing of relevant systems and equipment in area of responsibility.
    • Responsible to prioritise activities that is aligned to the requirements of other departments. 
    • Ensure that all Engineering reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines, and schedules.
    • Implement risk assessments, safe work procedures and Planned Task Observations.
    • Review, monitor, train and implement all codes of practice, policies, procedures, risk assessments and standards and ensure all are in place for the effective management of safe working conditions in terms of related area of responsibilities and legal requirements.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Trade Certificate (Boilermaker or Fitter or Diesel Mechanic or Rigger or Electrician or Millwright) obtained through an accredited/recognised institution and via an apprenticeship
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant trade (post qualification).
    • Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Valid drivers’ license.

    ADVANTAGE:

    • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
    • Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (N6) / Alternative to Trade Certificate for PDSA EIT (Engineer in Training) only.

    Human Resource Business Partner (Lime Acres)

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Coach, develop and consult line managers to:

    • Enable better decision making on people matters by compiling and analysing, statistics and fact-based decision material.
    • Provide them with tools and techniques for executing major changes with people consequences.
    • Help them improve their people management competencies and enable them to take more accountability for developing their workforce.
    • Lead and champion development of the desired organisation culture.

    Team Leader: Lamproom (Lime Acres)

    Task and Responsibilities:          

    • Manage the lamproom in terms of legislative and service requirements, sensitivity, group directives and the Mine Health and Safety Act.
    • Co-ordinate MHSA compliance with the applicable departments for a consolidated effort around lamproom controls and compliance measures.   
    • Provide current awareness services by advising clients of amendments to legislation and standards, e.g. DMRE, SABS etc. and as well as how to set up/maintain information management systems within their relevant unit.
    • Provide guidance to users at the Functional Test Station services and resources by advancing training compliance initiatives, identifying training requirements and facilitating the training when necessary for user personnel on SCSR, gas test instruments etc.                 
    • Ensure issuing of lamps, self-rescuers and GDI to all individuals going underground.                 
    • Controls the manpower resources for the lamproom to obtain optimum utilisation.
    • Registers all new lamproom equipment on receipt and formulates the relevant maintenance plans.              
    • Control spares and relevant equipment in area of responsibility. 
    • Order lamp room spares, gas cylinder, lamps, rescuers and GDIs.  
    • Responsible for calibration and bump test on gas instruments. 
    • Perform maintenance on lamps.                             
    • Lamproom clearance for ring blast purposes.                       
    • Conduct daily inspections on charging racks, rescuers, lamps, gas instruments and gas cylinders. 
    • Do monthly inspections on fire extinguishers in area of responsibility. 
    • Perform leak test on all rescue packs on a 3 monthly basis.
    • Catalogues, processes and distributes lamproom information according to set standards.                          
    • Submit a Lamproom report on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to supervisor.
    • Establishes and maintains a lamproom filing system for all relevant equipment in the lamproom as to cater for internal and external audits and legal requirements.
    • Maintains an auditable flash dash of all legal and approval certificates for compliance standards. 
    • Keep record of and report to supervisor all equipment for repairs, damages and losses.                             
    • Keep record of all lamps, self-rescuers and equipment that are returned to OEM for scrapped purposes. 
    • Keep record of equipment going to CSIR yearly performances. 
    • Responsible for the implementation of systems/data bases for the on-mine lamproom, taking cognisance of the need to integrate with group directives and on-mine infrastructure needs.                     
    • Maintain data base specific user inputs initiatives.               
    • Attend to queries and requests of users, taking cognisance of confidentiality requirements and identifies frequent problems or enhancements required, taking appropriate remedial action as and where necessary. 
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures. Report non-compliance to supervisor.
    • Comply to company Safety, Health and Environment standards, procedures and COPs. Report non-compliance to supervisor.
    • Perform risk assessments (Activity based and Mini).  
    • Conduct and attend monthly safety meetings.                      
    • Ensure correct utilisation of safety controls such as PPE, safety equipment and emergency equipment. 
    • Identify and report incidents, accidents and non-conformances to Health and Safety requirements. 
    • Ensure efficient housekeeping of the area according to department requirements.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12  
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a lamproom.
    • Lampman’s Certificate (DMRE) or National Certificate: Lamproom Operations (NQF Level 3) MQA
    • AfroxPac Leak Tester Training Programme
    • AfroxPac Lamproom Maintenance
    • Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Technical Competencies:

    • Know and understand the specifications of relevant lamproom equipment. 
    • Calibrate gas instruments according to standards and procedures.  
    • Know and understand the equipment and spare management system or programme relevant to the lamproom.
    • Have knowledge and skill in formulating maintenance plans for new lamproom equipment.       
    • Know and understand the relevant legislation, policies, procedures and standards with regards to the lamproom
    • Have knowledge and skill in facilitating training on gas instruments when required, adapting style as needed.

    Diesel Mechanic - TMM (Lime Acres)

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide subject matter expertise and skills in area of responsibility; advising on solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the department/section.
    • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act Regulations and Manufacturing and Company Standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman.
    • Reports faults and unsafe conditions to the Central Control Room.
    • Participate in planning shutdowns (Planned maintenance), resources, tools and spares relevant to the shutdown activities.
    • Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure. 
    • Responsible for the management of consumable stock levels (amongst others, spares and hydrocarbons). 
    • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements.    
    • Assist Foreman in executing his/his duties as and when required. 
    • Conduct planned task observations.
    • Follow instructions as per job card and report any defects.
    • De-energise and apply the lock-out procedure as per company policy.
    • Dismantle and remove machine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and check parts.
    • Detect and diagnose faults in machines and parts.
    • Assemble machine components and fit parts after being repaired.
    • Service machinery for optimal availability and performance.
    • Responsible to perform lock out when required.                   
    • Responsible for good housekeeping in working area.
    • Provide input in preparing maintenance and inspection schedules.
    • Conduct maintenance planning.
    • Responsible for trade related administration.

    • Conduct on-the-job training for allocated apprentices.

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Pass Vienna Level 2 Assessment.
    • Know and adhere to the safe work procedures.

    • Have knowledge and skill in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, manuals and drawings.
    • Detect faults and identify trends and report to ensure action to minimize losses or downtime.
