    Blasting Foreman x2 (Gamsburg)

    Overview    

    • This Operations Foreman will be based at Gamsburg- Northern Cape. Successful candidates must have Blasting Ticket, Advanced Blasting Course as an added advantage, Competent A & B, Code 10 Drivers License, MS Office, No Criminal Record, Medically fit. 3 years’ mining experience as a supervisor or Equivalent (preferably Underground), 3 years’ demonstrated knowledge of performing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical maintenance

    Duties    

    • Successful blasts according to requirements
    • Responsible for ensuring that blasting takes place on time and in line with the customer’s request. This includes all the pre-blasting activities such as  (among other things)
    • Preparation of the Emulsion Charging Unit,
    • The planning of the blast,
    • Blasting design,
    • Preparation including measuring of holes, pumping, wiring, timing and stemming of holes,
    • Testing and quality assurance of the product,
    • Monthly report to BME management and mine including a blasting efficiencies report and cost analysis.

    • Storage of accessories and products is in line with statutory prescriptions. Responsible for ensuring the security of stocks in storage areas in order to eliminate damage, theft and pilferage.

    • Correct and appropriate procedures followed with regard to loading/unloading of trucks and the movement of products into and out of storage areas.

    • Ensure staff working on the site meet all the statutory, legal and BME SHEQ requirements, standards, and prescriptions necessary for the performance of day-to-day activities on the site as well as preparing for and executing a detonation. This includes, among other things, the items on the Monthly Site. Inspection Form as well as for underground blasting preparation and exec.

    Enabled blasting operations and services

    • Hands on guidance of employees to function optimally

    • Train and create an environment of knowledge transfer/ sharing with mine personnel.
    • Responsible for ensuring the sound management of storage areas such as the silo and the magazines on site.

    • Testing and quality assurance of the product.
    • Ensuring underground safety.
    • Bench marking.
    • Reporting on previous blasts and general.
    • Sample analysis.
    • Weekly inspection of UV.
    • Monthly report to BME management and mine including a blasting efficiencies report and cost analysis
    • Training of mine personnel.
    • Implementation of shock tube initiation system.
    • Fragmentation Analysis.
    • Improvement of ore production and grade efficiency.
    • Technical assistance with regards to underground mining operations.
    • Oversee storage area.
    • Monitor stock levels.
    • Replenish stock and place orders.
    • Administering the orders of products.
    • Ensuring the correct procedures are followed regarding the offloading of HEF trucks.
    • Administration of stock (with assistance of mine).
    • Exercise financial control in line with site expenditures.
    • Cost analysis report for Mine Management.
    • Responsible to ensure that all the requirements of the OSH Act, and statutory prescriptions (at a minimum) are met on the site.
    • Responsible for ensuring that staff working on the site meet all the statutory, legal and BME SHEQ requirements, standards, and prescriptions necessary for the performance of day-to-day activities on the site as well as preparing for and executing a detonation.
    • This includes, among other things, the items on the Monthly Site Inspection Form as well as for underground blasting preparation and exec.
    • Ensure order number for orders are received.
    • Follow up of payments.
    • Ensure mine performs timely maintenance.
    • Calibration of charging units.
    • Perform maintenance on electrical, mechanical and hydraulic system.
    • Assist mine with maintenance and repairs

    Job Competencies    

    • Ensures that systems, processes and procedures are in place and managed to ensure timely maintenance is performed on equipment and vehicles.
    • Plans, coordinates and schedules maintenance
    • Ensures that regular inspections are conducted on Boiler shop equipment
    • Implements controls and does inspections to assess correct usage of PPE or equipment and to take the necessary actions
    • Implements controls to ensure that maintenance and repair work has been satisfactorily conducted
