    MFC Financial Accountant

    Job Description

    • This role is accountable for execution, governance and compliance at an operational level. In this role you will be accountable for achieving results through the efforts of others.

    Accounting Records

    • Ensures that the financial accounting transactions are accurately reflected in the business unit ledgers.

    Financial Control

    • Creates a healthy internal control environment to ensure integrity of financial information.
    • Effects ongoing changes to internal controls as necessitated by changes in business and corporate governance.
    • Monitors and reports on status of all control accounts in the business unit.

    Financial Reporting

    • Prepares monthly financial reports for management, including a high-level variance report by agreed deadline.

    Senior Financial Accountant

    Job Description

    • This role is accountable for the end to end reporting, governance and compliance for IFRS 2 and the Share Trusts. It entails reviewing detailed calculations, monthly packs, journals, TB, HFM reporting, AFS, tax returns and managing audits.

    Key Result Areas:

    Accounting Records

    Maintains books and accounts in accordance with accounting requirements

    • Review investment reconciliations which calculate the realised and unrealised fair value
    • Review bank analysis and reconciliations
    • At each grant cycle: Review the overfunding and underfunding calculations for each participating Employer Company
    • Review detailed calculations of the unallocated shares per Employer Company
    • Review detailed calculations of the allocated and unallocated liability/asset balances per Employer Company
    • Review the detailed participant tax analysis
    • Review audit fee accrual calculations
    • Review dividend received and paid accrual calculations
    • Implement any ad hoc calculations and reconciliations required
    • Review journals agreed to supporting documents and calculations
    • Review trial balance
    • Review HFM reporting
    • Perform ad hoc task/reports/service requests as needed from time to time

    Financial Control

    • Maintains a strong and healthy internal control environment to ensure safeguarding of assets & integrity of financial information
    • Monitors & reports on status of all control accounts for IFRS 2 and the Share Trusts
    • Effects ongoing changes to internal controls as necessitated by changes in business and corporate governance
    • Reviews and implement monthly reconciliations and investigate variances

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

    • Qualified Chartered Accountant
    • At least 4 years IFRS 2 experience mandatory
    • Share Trusts accounting advantageous
    • Flexibility and willingness to work outside strictly defined role and hours when required
    • Knowledge of Oracle, Fusion and reporting software such as HFM advantageous
    • Proven ability to drive improvement and efficiencies
    • Strong organisational, communication and time management skills
    • Able to work constructively under pressure and adapt to change

    Assistant Financial Accountant

    Job Description

    • This role is accountable for the end to end internal and external reporting for subsidiaries of Old Mutual.  It includes accounting transactions, reporting, tax calculations and submission.

    Key Result Areas:

    Financial Reporting

    • Compiles and populates records to trial balance level.
    • Prepares draft income statement and balance sheet.

    Reconciliations

    • Ensures accurate reconciliations are done and followed up.
    • Reviews control accounts and reconciliations.

    Specific Key Result Areas

    • Perform journals from bank statement movements and other sources.
    • Processes journal entries in relation to the shareholder entities, timeously and accurately.
    • Performs calculations to determine financial transactions required.
    • Ensures that the financial records, including the trail balance is valid, accurate and complete.
    • Performs inter-company reconciliations and confirmation of balances and corrects mismatches timeously.
    • Reconciliation of all Balance sheet accounts, including bank account, ensuring that reconciling items are constantly monitored and actioned, and that there are no long outstanding reconciling items.
    • Prepares documentation for payments on behalf of entities.

    Prepares, and submits within agreed deadlines:

    • HFM Submissions (Monthly, Quarterly, Half Yearly, Annually).
    • Disclosure submissions.
    • Analytical Reviews.
    • CFO sign off.
    • Assist with preparation of business plan and quarterly forecasts.
    • Prepare VAT calculation.
    • Complete VAT and Tax submissions.
    • Assist with preparation of the annual financial statements and running of audits until completion.
    • Compile management accounts for board meetings.
    • Compile relevant Tax schedules where required.

    Requirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience required :

    • Finance related qualification.
    • 3-5 years’ relevant finance experience a must.
    • Experience working with HFM, and Oracle would be a distinct advantage.
