    Senior Specialist: Systems Support

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Senior Specialist: Systems Support will be responsible for ensuring that assigned Security Operations infrastructure and applications are configured, installed, tested and operational. The incumbent will be responsible for delivery this service to tier one, two and three OpCos.

    The Senior Specialist Systems Support is accountable for delivery of the following:

    • Provide technical SIEM, EDR, Vulnerability Management expertise to tier one, two and three OpCos.
    • Administer devices deployed on MTN networks and enforce of their connectivity to the Cyber Defence systems.
    • Perform architecture maintenance and management of the necessary updates, both in terms of software and rules.
    • Provide second level technical support for all Cyber Defence systems and software components.
    • Troubleshoot, and resolve any reported problems on the Cyber Defence systems at OS and application level.
    • Perform application performance tuning on the Cyber Defence systems.
    • Lead and participate in efforts to implement application updates to include upgrades, patches, and new releases.
    • Plan and coordinate testing of changes, upgrades, and new services, ensuring Cyber Defence systems will operate correctly in current and future environments.
    • Implement failover, high availability, disaster recovery, business continuance processes where required.
    • Collaborate with hardware, OS, DBA technical teams to ensure proper integration of the environment.
    • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products where required.
    • Liaise with vendor support on all issues.
    • Implement version control.
    • Implement process automation, best practice, technology efficiency, and effectiveness.
    • Daily monitoring and maintenance activities of the Cyber Defence systems.
    • Extract the necessary raw information to elaborate the relevant technical reports.
    • Provide information as appropriate for reports specific to area of responsibility on daily/ weekly/ monthly basis.
    • File, archive and retrieve documents as and when required.
    • Maintain and update records and systems as required.
    • Retrieve supporting documentation and records to facilitate and support query resolution.

    Job Requirements

    Education

    • Three-year tertiary qualification in Computer Engineering or similar

    Experience

    • 3 years of relevant work experience in system support.
    • High level scripting capabilities.
    • Good knowledge and demonstrated troubleshooting abilities on connectivity issues due to firewall, load balancer, proxy, and others.
    • Experience in administration of SIEM, EDR and Vulnerability Management tools.
    • Experience in the design and implementation of new use cases.
    • Experience in supporting permanent improvement of use cases based on feedback loops.

    • Fluent in English

    Senior Consultant: Programme Management (MUNA) (Limited Duration Contract)

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Senior Consultant Programme Management MUNA is responsible for the implementation of the Core modernization projects across all OPCOs ; ensuring that these projects are well coordinated with all requisite resources availed timely and projects delivered to specifications; on time; on budget and to the internal customer‘s expectations and satisfaction. The Senior Consultant is responsible for the coordination, direction, implementation and execution of the projects at hand.

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

    The Senior Consultant will be accountable (in accordance with sound project management principles and guidelines) to achieve the following objectives:

    • Develop, implement and manage the relevant training programmes for the Opco’s on new technologies
    • Resolve all technical challenges as part of the scope and develop an integrated plan for cut-overs
    • Manage escalations up to executive level timeously
    • Effectively manage the vendors to meet roadmap commitments and timelines
    • Ensures the delivery of projects (within the programme) according to project scope while effectively managing resources, time and budget.
    • Create and execute project plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
    • Monitor project plans including project organisation, timelines, contingency plans and resources.
    • Manage (when necessary) OEMs and supplier contracts in terms of agreed scope.
    • Monitor and co-ordinate the contributions of multi-disciplinary professional teams from various parts of the MTN business to delivery on projects.
    • Ensure that project meetings are appropriately facilitated, including all other project related meetings, workshops etc.
    • Support, run and co-ordinate project management meetings and other committees as directed by the Programme manager.
    • Ensures financial control of projects being managed (e.g. budgets, cash flows, certification of all payment certificates etc.).
    • Ensure the facilitation of all liaison matters with all project role-players (e.g. service providers) and internal stakeholders.
    • Deliver accurate and timely input into Network Design & Planning project related reporting.
    • Oversee and/or coordinate the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data for program reports
    • Ensure the successful tracking of the project risks.
    • Provide a continuous assessment of the progress of the program for evaluation and improvement
    • Work with other program/project managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department as well as dependencies from other initiatives

    Senior Manager: Radio Access Network (RAN)

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
    The Senior Manager RAN is responsible for developing and enhancing the Radio Access Networks strategy to ensure that MTN is tactically deploying appropriate and catering for future Radio Network technology capabilities. The role is accountable for providing technical specialist support for the Radio Network, across all MTN OPCOs. The role also provides technical guidance and tactical strategic execution on the evolution and convergence of radio networks to a next generation IP network.

    Quality of the network is a distinguishing factor, with Radio Access Network quality being central to the MTN customer experience. Flexibility and agility in adapting to the rapidly evolving radio technology domain (throughput, latency, new standards and competing technologies) will determine the success of this position, whilst controlling for time, budget, quality and performance.

    The Senior Manager RAN will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Provide input into the development of Group RAN planning, optimisation standards and strategies, with a key focus on managing coverage, quality of network and enhanced customer experience across the MTN Group.
    • Identify and evaluate key local and global radio access technological trends, develop and implement strategies to counter / minimize possible impact on the architecture and integrity of current Radio Access Network and subsequent iterative rollouts.
    • Provide RAN roadmap input, in line with the future network vision and communicate to Group Vendors and OPCOs
    • Engage with Network Vendors and Device OEM’s on technical matters relating to RAN performance and quality.
    • Negotiate with Radio Access Network Vendors on behalf of the Group.
    • Regular review, update and standardize Group RAN configs considering the requirements from all OPCOs and new innovations/products from RAN vendor
    • Engage with and support cross-functional technical teams (i.e. Core and Transport) to ensure synergy across various departmental functions and improve network quality and overall MTN customer experience.
    • Support the design, planning and optimisation of Mobile Broadband Radio Access Networks.
    • Provide guidance on the deployment strategy for Access and next generation IP Convergence – (i.e. services provided, target areas, spectrum strategy, FWA strategy).
    • Participate in the evaluation and selection of Group RAN Vendors for Radio Access Networks, focusing on additional Spectrum Capacity, Cost Optimisation, Technology Assessment and Vendor Performance.
    • Manage performance of RAN actively, through dashboard KPI development and monitoring. Special focus on Network NPS reports and improvements for all the OPCOS.
    • Co-ordinate trials and working groups for Radio Access Network initiatives across the Group, to fully utilise skills pool and encourage knowledge sharing and key learnings across the Group.
    • Provide Technical support to relevant stakeholders on all Radio Access Network related issues.
    • Manage contractor relationships and coordinate / oversee the activities of Group vendors, ensuring adherence with stipulated timelines, quality and other contract terms (SLA’s).
    • Assist in the resolution of major, escalated problems on relating to the Radio Access Network.
    • Assist OPCOs with the planning and execution of RAN rollout projects, in compliance with agreed implementation schedule.
    • Confirm compliance with best practices and standards in the implementation of RAN rollouts.
    • Collaborate with OEMs and partners to enhance the technical testing capabilities within MTN Lab in South Africa.
    • Co-ordinate trials and evaluate different types of Satellite providers ranging from HAP, LEO, MEO, GEO to extend network coverage capabilities

    General Manager: Cloud Centre of Excellence

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The General Manager – Cloud Centre of Excellence is responsible to continue developing MTN’s Cloud Centre of Excellence and for the design, development, implementation, and management of cloud technology across MTN. The role is responsible for delivering all aspects related to MTN’s Transformation to the adoption of Cloud technologies and realisation of cloud enabled business models across MTN’s markets through technology leadership and collaboration with the relevant stakeholders in order to enable growth, achieve sustainability and unlock value for MTN both in terms of TCO reduction as well as business enablement. 

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

    The General Manager: Cloud Centre of Excellence will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Continue developing and managing the Cloud Centre of Excellence and liaise with its stakeholders to drive thought leadership, strategy and execution towards value realisation (estimated opportunity value is multi-billion ZAR)
    • Present to Group Operating Committee, Group ExCo and other similar forums as needed
    • Evolve the cloud strategy aligned to the outcomes defined in the overall GCTIO strategy and the business goals of GCOO, Group Digital, EBU and other business stakeholders for cloud and data centre strategy
    • Define and run governance for Manco and OpCos for all cloud related projects
    • Evolve the cloud reference architecture, technical standards, service catalogue and value realisation framework incl the business cases related to cloud adoption projects in Group and OpCos
    • Continuously develop the CCOE service portfolio and roadmap strategy in alignment with wider enterprise architecture roadmaps
    • Drive the delivery of cloud native technology projects using standard methodologies (e.g. SAFe / DevOps) with security by design
    • Manage the value realisation office within the CCoE to plan investments and budget allocation to maximise value creation and minimise time to value from cloud related initiatives (across Manco and OpCos) and provide input to CapEx and OpEx budget guidelines to OpCos in the annual budget cycle
    • Continuously monitor and optimise public cloud and on-prem infrastructure spend across multi[1]cloud environments
    • Ensure cloud offering and architecture is aligned to industry best practices and CCOE standards
    • Facilitate compliance to Telco Cloud reference bodies such as ETSI, GSMA, 3GPP & ITU (in collaboration with the network strategy team).
    • Work with PMO management to ensure effective project management of Cloud specific requirements (particularly relating to availability, accessibility, and retention) • Vendor management focused on the strategic partners (together with GSSC)
    • Collaborate with network technology team towards setting up and operating the Telco Test lab for verification/validation/certification of Telco VNF/CNFs configuration
    • Foster innovation management in collaboration with the Hyperscaler partner(s)
    • People management of CCOE teams providing mentorship, motivation and vision to harness potential and deliver results
    • Pursue opportunities to present MTN’s approach and achievements to regional and global events and publications.
