    IFRS Professional Practice, Senior Manager

    The EY IFRS Financial Reporting Group (FRG) is one of the most trusted, respected, and influential teams that assists clients in addressing the accounting and financial reporting challenges facing their business.

    As a Senior Manager, you will work within a team of IFRS specialists to provide responsive accounting and financial reporting support to our audit teams, our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) teams and other service lines within EY.

    The role will suit individuals with previous IFRS specialist experience as well as those with an interest in developing their IFRS skills further. You will gain ongoing professional development through diverse experiences, world-class learning, and individually tailored coaching.  

    Your key responsibilities

    • Participating in technical accounting consultations and providing technical support to audit teams
    • Performing pre-issuance technical reviews on listed entity financial statements
    • Supporting the technical learning and development of the audit practice through the preparation and delivery of technical updates, publications, and training materials
    • Actively participating in accounting standard subject matter group(s)
    • Building strong relationships both internally and externally, including building your profile with professional bodies and organisations 
    • Engaging directly with EY clients in the provision of technical accounting services 
    • Supporting the EY brand in the marketplace through providing exceptional client service
    • Developing our people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring of staff
    • Playing an active operational role within our team

    Skills and attributes for success

    To quality for the role you must have:

    • CA (SA), and 4- 6 years’ relevant experience thorough knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards
    • Experience in analysing complex accounting issues such as securitisations, special purpose entities and expected credit loss models. In addition, experience in providing solutions in accordance with the relevant accounting standards and legislation, including IFRS 9 Financial Instruments or IFRS 17 Insurance.
    • Experience in providing IFRS support to big 5 SA banks, listed asset managers and large insurance companies.

     

    Ideally, you’ll also have

    • Excellent communication skills and confidence to communicate your view 
    • Ability to succinctly present on a technical topic and articulate the issue and impact for our clients
    • Ability to be flexible when required and to work collaboratively within our team to meet required deadlines

    Africa Assurance Innovation and Digital Data Delivery Manager

    The Africa Assurance Innovation and Digital Data Delivery Manager (“DDM”) will play a key role in the Innovation and Digital team.  The DDM will be responsible for managing the overall delivery of the digital solutions that are on offer from the Innovation and Digital Team for a portfolio of audit clients.  The DDM will also be required to ensure that the audit engagement teams are supported in linking their risks and compliance requirements to the digital solution that will appropriately address this.

    The DDM will also be fundamental in achieving the overall strategy of the Data and Intelligence Delivery Centre of Excellence.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Manage the delivery of the digital solutions that are on offer from the Innovation and Digital Team for a portfolio of clients.
    • Challenge the audit engagement team for the allocated portfolio of clients to generate the right demand for digital solutions, based on tools that will support the execution of the audit and the sharing of client insights with the audit client.
    • Understand the full spectrum of digital solutions offered at a level which allows an establishment whether it is a good fit for the audit engagement team and when to escalate tool usage to the Implementation Team.
    • Proactively engage with each audit engagement team early on in the client’s financial year to establish the data support plan.
    • Attend and participate in allocated EMEIA Catalyst Team calls.
    • Grow, manage and enable junior DDM’s.
    • Identify shortfalls in the digital solutions that are on offer and share that with the product owners for resolution.
    • Participate in solution design sessions to assist the Data and Intelligence Delivery and Centre of Excellence Leader to make the delivery process more effective and efficient.
    • Implement and manage change when necessary to meet the delivery timelines.
    • Evaluate and assess result of deliveries in order to deliver a summary of success or challenges to key stakeholders.
       

    Required Skills and Experiences:

    • Newly qualified CAs with an understanding of audit and data
