    Planner: Supply Channel

    Clover is looking for a Planner:

    • Supply Channel to plan production to ensure optimum stock levels in CDC's, to join the Supply Chain Planning team. This position will be based at Clover Head Office in Roodepoort. 

    Requirements

    • Duties and Responsibilities    
    • Rough cut production plans & Warehousing
    • Plan daily production at a minimum horizon of 21 days and weekly plans at a rolling 12 weeks according to agreed plan and production rules which will be uploaded weekly to the KMR system used for procurement purposes        
    • Ensure timeous communication with the applicable factory when additional shifts/less shifts are required based on current demand trend and production requirement    
    • Analyse additional volumes and impact it will have on a specific line when new products are launched as well as the procurement lead times on product availability        
    • Ensure space bottlenecks are identified and communicated for further investigations and analysis to ensure sufficient space in the network are determined in advance
    • Analyse batch sizes vs. shelf-life requirement and impact the predetermined batch size will have on supply of the product in the network (warehouse space, Freshness of stock, obsolete stock)   
    • Plan optimal stock levels for semi- and finished goods to ensure pre-defined customer service levels are on target
    • Take ownership of channel to ensure sufficient and optimal stock levels are maintained by ensuring constant and timeous communication with the deployment team regarding product group/sku priorities        
    • Apply the constraint/factors of e.g., long lead times, forecast accuracy, batch constraints, warehouse constraints, shelf life, network constraint/design in production planning to ensure stocks are optimised with the best possible trade off solution        
    • Optimise the supply network to ensure freshness of stock at optimal production/network/primary costs        
    • Determine factors contributing to constant short dated stock in the supply channel, and the corrective action needed to reduce/avoid the constant obsolete stock        
    • Communicate potential short dated stock problems to the Demand team and ensure stock is moved to a location/s as required for additional sales to limit the short dated stock/write off        
    • Consolidate the CDC demand in optimal factory planning while taking into consideration available capacity in the network and daily/weekly/monthly CDC demand and actual supply        
    • Ensure constant supply of a product group/sku's in the channel by timeous communication and request for early releases/grading if this should have an impact on supply        

    Optimise network planning

    • Optimise the supply network based on guidelines, and determine the most cost-effective supply channel, factory, route        
    • Ensure stock is replenished from most optimal factory location (where similar and non-similar factories are packing) at optimal costs when tradeoffs need to be made regarding additional supply locations while freshness of stock and the OFR % are maintained        
    • Define and revise buffer levels by determining risk of changes in demand or supply by sku/prod group to ensure target OFR% and product freshness        
    • Analyse the total supply chain function to ensure target OFR % are met and maintained        

    Give input and report on sales and operations planning

    • Ensure accurate information are available to optimise rough cut capacity plans with impact of constraints for best possible inputs to the S & OP process        
    • Identify bottlenecks, processes, constraints that has an impact on current supply and possible solutions/corrective measures        
    • Ensure daily reporting at summary level of channel information (Obsolete stock, constraints, impact of supply disruption, potential supply problems) by monitoring, identifying and implementing corrective measures in the supply channel        
    • Ensure monthly consolidated reporting of Channel information in summary format (Obsolete stock, supply disruption and impact on OFR%, channel costs and potential savings)

    Channel ownership of Target OFR % in the supply network

    • Identify and facilitate mitigating actions where OFR% deviations occurred in the supply chain and way forward.

    Manager: Production Logistics

    Report on variable cost           

    • Ensure control over all transactions within production and Co-packers, related to all raw material, packaging and Finished goods.
    • Ensure control over usages that lead to the accumulation of cost
    • Ensure accuracy in the determination of cost - especially with regard to manufacturi
    • Monitor all BOMs, and escalate any anomalies to the Technical team.

    Review annual variable cost budget 

    • Prepare annual variable cost budgets of all costs based on budgeted volumes

    Calculate and report market supply

    • Align with Central Planning with regards to Planned vs Actual reporting.

    Contract Manufacturing Assistance 

    • Provide functional support w.r.t. to shopfloor control to co-pack team.
    • Ensure accurate reporting on usage variance for manufacturing services rendered. i.e GHIB, Rich's, etc
    • Ensure control, accurate reporting on third party supplied raw material and packaging.

    Functional responsibility for Logistics in Production            

    • Manage and control the following actions: Movement of stock from receiving, internal controls (FIFO, FEFO), inter branch movement, movement to and from production facilities, and transacting finished goods from manufacturing facilities to Distiribution centres.
    • Report on stock movement and stock value - Implement and update controls to ensure that material and final product is transferred on the system.

    Highlight risk on raw material and packaging.

    • Drive continuous improvement principals in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Partners for synergy in Industrial.
    • Drive towards World Class Standards in Inbound Logistics at "Mega Sites".
    • Investigate WMS implementation for inbound logistics.

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Manage the Safety, Occupational Health, Environment and Quality system within Production 

    • Assist in the development and implementation of the Safety, Occupational Health, Environment, Quality and Food Safety Management system 
    • Ensure that procedures are followed correctly regarding change control at Production level
    • Ensure validation studies for equipment, block flow diagram and process are available 
    • Report/communicate to Production and PT&T on formulation, process changes etc. that will influence Safety, Occupational Health, Environment and Quality, as well as food safety at plant level 
    • Identify Safety, Health, Occupational Environment and Quality and food safety issues (especially adherence to legislation and ISO/FSSC standards) and help/support with specialist knowledge to solve the issues 
    • Verify that FSSC 22000, ISO45000, ISO14001 related training is done 
    • Conduct quarterly meetings to ensure alignment between branches 
    • Ensure that all risks pertaining to Safety, Occupational Health, Environment and Quality (including Food Safety) is quantified and mitigation measures, including appropriate work procedures and PPE are implemented 
    • Support and manage the Safety, Occupational Health, Environment and quality, product technical and food safety requirements in Production 

    Provide support to Production regarding trials and processes 

    • Ensure effective communication (e.g. written, verbal) when new processes, products etc. is implemented by PT&T 
    • Conduct and coordinate product recalls and withdrawals when requested 
    • Ensure all updates specifications from PT&T is issued and implemented per branch through the above-mentioned system 
    • Give direction to Production when product, packaging & raw material does not comply with specifications (concessions) 
    • Ensure that an effective Occupational Health care service is provided 
    • Conduct Safety, Occupational Health & Environmental meetings, and run adhoc awareness campaigns 
    • Provide product technical/expert advise & support to Production management 
    • Provide support to projects, trials, root cause analysis (RCA), modifications and validations, as per the request from the relevant functional input 
    • Coordinate training and development of Production staff relating to processes and products principles 
    • Monitor and guide the job observation program e.g. SOP's, One Point Lessons, Task Based Training etc. in consultation with relevant functional input 
    • Assist with the technical issues (where applicable) when contract manufacturing is done in a Production facility according to the contractual specification of the product 
    • Identify, develop, standardise and implement tools & techniques to ensure effective manufacturing 
    • Investigate complaints, incidents and corrective actions regarding Safety, Occupational Health, Environment and Quality and food safety 
    • Conduct, report and record investigations related to Safety, Occupational Health, Environment, Quality and implement corrective actions 

    Action the priorities and corrections with Production team 

    • Manage and liaise with Production regarding investigation of complaints and SHEQ incidents, provide expert advice where required 
    • Facilitate Safety, Occupational Health, Environment, Quality, product technical, and food safety audits 

    Ensure that the facility is aware and available for all related audits 

    • Validate that the relevant documentations are in place for the audit 
    • Ensure that the corrective actions of previous findings are done 
    • Ensure that proactive steps are taken to minimise risks, findings etc. in the system 
    • Ensure internal audit protocol/methodology regarding Head Office plant audits is done. (FSSC/GMP Based) 
    • Liaise with other stakeholders (e.g. PT&T, Sensillo, Projects, etc.) that manufacturing equipment is validated against functionality 
    • Maintain Entropy system

    Manage staff - where applicable 

    • Ensure optimal utilisation of staff
