    Financial Analyst

    QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

    • Matric/Grade 12 equivalent.
    • Management Accounting Diploma or degree.
    • CIMA or studying towards CIMA.
    • Recognition is given to Prior Learning and practical experience.
    • NECESSARY EXPERIENCE & INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE:
    • At least 5 years' experience in a finance department.
    • Experience in report building and analytics.
    • Experience in accounting for and analysing Inventory/Cost of Sales in a manufacturing entity.
    • Experience in financial planning and analysis.
    • Experience in interpretation of revenue trends and analysis.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Previous experience on ERP System (SAP will be advantageous.)
    • Strong reconciliation skills.

    KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

    • Planning and Performance Monitoring:
    • Support business partners to produce the annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts including commentary.
    • Assist budget holders with budgeting platform
    • Analyse revenue / margin / contribution reporting and explanation of performance against budget, prior performance and market conditions
    • Sales analysis of products by region
    • Understand the drivers of current performance
    • Use internal and external information to extrapolate future performance based on scenario planning
    • Work with business partners to turn analysis into value adding insight
    • Cost & Financial analysis:
    • Conduct internal cost analysis of quality vs cost and recommend actions.
    • Gross margin analysis on specific products.
    • Perform daily & monthly requirements to maintain standard costing within SAP
    • Review and Analyse variances through purchasing and production.
    • Monthly stock reporting and stock takes.
    • Project Management & Support:
    • Support finance projects as required including supporting business case, rolling out new Business Processes and seeking operational efficiencies.
    • Assist the commercial finance business partner with financial, commercial and analytical support for the sales & support functions.
    • General responsibilities:
    • Assistance with Financial Audits relating to cost of sales, fixed assets and inventory.
    • Assist the Financial Business Partners with ad-hoc tasks as per deadlines and work scope given.
    • Fraud awareness
    • Adherence to the systems and guidelines.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external role players
    • Adhere to SARS legislation on all processing
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures

    CORE ROLE SUMMARY

    The successful role incumbent will serve as a key strategic support to the CEO and the executive management team in their quest to expand and grow the company to vaccine industry international standards. fundraising initiatives for the company across the vaccine value chain, coordinating key strategic initiatives internally within the company and with relevant external stakeholders in support of Biovac's vision to be the leading biopharma business in Africa, through geographical footprint, infrastructure & product pipeline growth.

    Core aspect of the role is to identify funding opportunities and provide relevant funding opportunity analysis and support to the Exco team for decision making and processing of plans and proposals regarding innovation projects, including business models, cost & benefit analysis, target identification, stakeholder lobbying & negotiations and continuous, tenacious engagements that underpin the successful funding of various new business opportunities, including but not limited to greenfield projects, new product development, contract manufacturing and business, and/ or product acquisitions.

    QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO SUCCEED:

    A degree in either Science, Business Science, Economics, Engineering, Chartered Accounting, International Relations is required, together with a Masters in Business Administration or equivalent post graduate degree.

    EXPERIENCED & KNOWLEDGEABLE AS FOLLOWS:

    • 8 - 10 Years relevant experience in the vaccine, biotech, pharma manufacturing industry or equivalent.
    • At least 5 years experience at middle to senior management level within a medium scaling up business or medium to large continental, or multinational corporates, or in a management consulting capacity with strong affinity to research and up to date with industry knowledge and insights.
    • Business analysis, developing models, document writing, business & project planning, calls for proposal submissions, and business/management reporting.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing projects and programs with multiple strategic initiatives with large budgets.
    • Financial & economic analysis, commercial finance, project finance.
    • Global and continental vaccine/ pharmaceutical landscape.
    • Maintaining role related processes in full compliance with the current regulations and guidelines, both local and international.
    • Microsoft Office 365 and related applications, especially MS outlook, MS projects MS Planner, excel, power point, MS teams and Power BI
    • Strategic co-ordination and matrix management experience

    KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

    • Support Biovacs Executive Team with our strategic planning infrastructure & translating strategy into action through strategy mapping, 3 year rolling plans, annual plans and 90-day plans
    • Track and report on strategy execution plans including the alignment of resources and capacity
    • Co-ordinate the alignment of all leadership groups on Biovac's journey to Biovac 2.0 and activity co-ordination linked to strategic KPI's related to the growth journey.
    • Coordinate key strategic KPI initiatives with relevant internal stakeholders, as well as external stakeholders, including funders and drive monthly reporting
    • Performs competitors analysis by conducting strategic mapping of vaccine company peers and competitors
    • Create, consult and launch policies, processes, guidelines and templates related to own function.
    • Identify and assess business value creation opportunities and define scope and business plans for review by the Executive team.
    • Assist internal working groups with seeking further opportunities including:
    • business development opportunities for a specialist facility dedicated to clinical trial manufacture.
    • product pipeline growth through finished products & new technology transfers.
    • Provide project support to Product Development /Technology Transfer Working Group activities along-side Project Managers as required.
    • Assist the CFO and the Exco team with co-ordinating fundraising initiatives through:
    • Collaborate with FP&A team to understand and develop the funding vs revenue strategic framework for short to longer term projections & to conduct financial evaluation of business strategies linked to BD/ innovation projects.
    • Identifying different types of funding options to meet the strategic objectives of Biovac and maintain the funding framework and tracking data.
    • Identify an optimal mix of funding options that is appropriate for the relevant part of the business across the value chain (product development, corporate, manufacturing and commercial) of the vaccine business to maximize value.
    • Stay abreast of calls for proposals planned and/ or published by development funding institutions, philanthropic institutions, and venture capitalists.
    • Present opportunities internally and where applicable, lead the completion and submission of external funding proposals and applications in full and on time with the support of the internal task team.
    • Develop and implement financial models, analysis, and reports for key funding opportunities.
    • Other duties as required by the Exco team
