    Section Manager Drilling

    Job Description

    As our Section Manager Drilling, you will be responsible for:

    • Ensuring holes are drilled according to the weekly schedule and correct specifications to ensure the required blasting results are achieved.
    • Sampling drilled holes correctly and as per WI, forward to Geologist for analysis and block classifications.
    • Optimizing equipment capacity through CI projects in order to improve production throughout.
    • Drilling supporting holes when the burden is too wide, to ensure the correct fragmentation.
    • Monitor performance data across the Section to be able to improve individual Supervisor and crew performance. Source technical and operational expertise as required.
    • Budget and Cost Control Management.
    • Continuous identification of opportunities for cost cutting measures.
    • Optimizing human resources in a way that maximum output is delivered by the section.
    • Ensuring work ethics is of such a nature that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance.
    • Assessing the training needs of the Section against the defined skill requirements and develop and implement a training plan within your authority limits.
    • Setting expectations for the Supervisors about crew leave. Monitor leave and turnover data and initiate/authorize recruitment activity so that crew strength is maintained.
    • Fully understanding the policies, processes and systems which apply to your team’s work and provide leadership so that your team.
    • Stakeholder Relationship Management.
    • Ensuring improvement initiatives.
    • Managing mine operations and processes safely, efficiently and cost effectively to meet short term and long term production and project objectives.
    • Improving measures and solutions to eliminate reoccurrence of incidents and pollution
    • Ensuring compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health, safety and risk management standards and best practices.
    • Ensuring all activities conducted are in accordance with the Minerals Act and Regulations and compliance to OSHAS and MHS Acts.
    • Assessing and respond to risk in the workplace and implementing safety improvement plans at the operations.

    This role is in the Mining department on a band 6 level and reporting to the Manager Mining (Drilling)

    Qualifications

    You will be required to have the following:

    • Degree in Mining Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng.or B. Tech)
    • Open Cast Blasting Certificate
    • Mine Managers Certificate of Competence advantageous.
    • Computer literate in MS Office and SAP
    • Valid South African Driver’s license

    Experience:

    • 5 - 8 years relevant Mining production experience
    • 5 years’ experience in a Mine Overseer role
    • 3 - 5 years’ experience in Drilling and Blasting
    • 3 - 5 Experience in Managing contractors advantageous.

    Resident Engineer

    Job Description

    The role ensures effective and safe responsible maintenance of engineering practices: You will be responsible for the following:

    • Provide support and lead the Operational Risk Management system and process within the engineering discipline.
    • Provides visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development, and Anglo-American values.
    • Contributes to the development of the strategic operational plans and strategy but has direct accountability for the execution of such strategies within the area of accountability.
    • Develops, implements, and monitors engineering maintenance, risk and operational tactics and plans to deliver the business objectives.
    • Provides and oversees engineering services, shaft and open pit infrastructure (rail, roads, power, compressed air, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals.
    • Maintains a 5-year asset management plan to ensure asset integrity and critical spares is sustained.
    • Leads and manages resources (labour, spares, suppliers. Contractors etc) to deliver production targets and projects as required.
    • Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
    • Ensures compliance to all group, BU and other engineering, sustainability and asset management standards and specifications within the area of accountability
    • Develops sets and manages the engineering and maintenance budgets
    • Accountable and ensures the implementation of key strategic initiatives such as the operating model, asset management framework and SIB deployment.
    • Manages implements and contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes.
    • SIB projects planning and execution in collaboration with the Site PMO office
    • Leads specialist defect elimination process and RCA’s into complex failures and support reliability improvement plans.
    • Develops and or inputs into major equipment repair scopes and conducts off site specialist QA during both manufacturing and repair processes.
    • Safety performance improvements plan leading to zero harm
    • Support and address all governance and assurance audit processes
    • Support and address all framework assessment processes
    • Continual Critical Equipment performance improvement by monitoring set of key performance measures.
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with relevant stakeholders specifically HRD, Supply chain and Projects to ensure that these service providers meet the operational expectations from an engineering perspective

    Functional Report: Section Engineering Managers

    Key Internal Role Relationships: Safety, Finance, Sta- in-Business, Technical Service, Asset Strategy & Reliability, Environmental, Permitting, Social and Business Partners

    Qualifications

    • Degree or National Higher Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering
    • Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works)
    • Post Graduate Qualification in Asset Management/ Engineering Management (Advantageous)

    Experience

    • 10 years engineering experience of which 5 years is in senior (E1) engineer role.
    • Valid driving license code 08

    Reward Advisor

    Job Description

    In the scope of work, the Reward Advisor will work closely with the Manger Rewards and Policy to Support the annual benchmarking and review of pay scale processes.

    • Analysis of external and internal fixed and variable remuneration data to carry out benchmarking
    • Assist with the administration of the annual reward cycles (the salary and incentive reviews)
    • Prepare relevant rem communication templates
    • Participate in salary surveys, diagnostics, and reporting
    • Maintain and support the creation of documentation relating to Group Reward policies and processes
