    Contractor - Voice & Network Engineer

    Contract End Date - 02/02/2023

    Astron Energy IT Department is looking to fill this 12 month Contract role within the Network Team.

    Experience Required

    The network team is looking for a network engineer to fulfil the following roles:

    • Understanding and experience in network switching and routing (EIGRP/BGP) in a Cisco environment
    • Good understanding and experience in Fortigate firewalls
    • Good understanding of network cabling infrastructure and standards in an operational environment, experience with UTP and fibre installations and managing cabling contractors
    • Understanding and experience in Cisco wireless deploying Cisco wireless LAN Controllers and WiFi access points using FlexConnect
    • Understanding and experience in the use of Cisco ISE in the management of networking devices (i.e. TACACS). Experience with Cisco NAC would be an advantage
    • Understanding of SD-WAN in a cisco and/or Fortigate environment and network connectivity over the Internet (IPSec Tunnels, and QoS)
    • Cisco voice experience, configuring and troubleshooting Cisco telephones, and experience and understanding of Cisco voice gateways (SRST), and Cisco Cube SIP Gateways
    • Experience with video conferencing and collaboration using Webex and/or MS Teams
    • Understanding and experience in a Cloud Environment (MS Azure)
    • Experience with network management tools: Solarwinds, Zabbix/Graphana

    Certification Required

    We require the following valid network certifications:

    • Cisco CCNP Enterprise Infrastructure (any specialisation)
    • Fortinet NSE 4

    Contractor - Quantity Surveyor & Cost Controller (Ikhwezi)

    Key Performance Areas:

    The QS/Cost Controller will be reporting directly to the Service Manager in performing the assigned duties in terms of the project implementation process for site rebranding.

    Role and Responsibilities:

    • Preparation and estimates budget costs by evaluating plans and specifications
    • Scrutinize budgets for bulk production
    • Conduct research to obtain data on labour costs, materials, production times, etc.
    • Review on final accounts
    • Review offers and quotes by subcontractors in relation to procurement
    • Prepare estimates for time, cost, materials, and labour to be used for purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work
    • Create project status presentations for delivery to project team, when requested
    • Prepare documentation for contracts, transactions, or regulatory compliance 
    • Monitor and bring awareness to project milestones and deliverables 
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant administrative experience within a dynamic and fast-paced environment
    • Ability to communicate up- and downstream
    • Assess cost effectiveness procurement detail as the project develops

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification (Construction studies/Quantity Surveying/Financial)
    • 5+ years of relevant experience
    • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
    • Project management experience (Cost Control) and use of project management software
    • Ability to critically analyse project needs and issues, and report to team lead
    • Ability to liaise with key stakeholders

    Contractor – Quality Controller & Assurance (Ikhwezi)

    Astron Energy (Pty) Limited Project Ikhwezi has an exciting contractor opportunity available for a QA/QC Controller to join their innovative and dynamic team.

    We are looking for an astute QA/QC Controller to plan, direct, and/or coordinate quality assurance programs aligned with our broader project implementation process across the project.

    The QA/QC Controller will be responsible for analysing information, as well as monitoring processes and Bill of Quantities to detect or assess problems. The individual needs to obtain all relevant information to determine compliance with standards and pricing

    The QAQC Controller will be responsible for maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with key stakeholders involved in the process of site rebranding. Finally, it is the responsibility of the employee to drive their own development in updating their knowledge in the field of operation.  

    Key Performance Areas (but not limited to): 

    The QA/QC Controller will be reporting to the Technical Manager in fulfilling their particular duties and responsibilities of implementing and monitoring the quality standards across sites and the greater Ikhwezi Project.

    Role and Responsibilities: 

    • Analyse the quality control results and provide feedback to Technical Manager. 
    • Ensure site specific Materials and Quantities are in-line with the BOQ for the site and item costs relate in value to the current Rate card.
    • Analyse QA/QC reports form sites and feedback on concerns.
    • Quarterly QA/QC review and report
    • Share quality control and analytical procedures/results with team 
    • Lease with RPM on Production and site implementation.
    • Ensure all SHEQ KPI’s are initiated and monitored

    Qualifications and Experience 

    • Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor of Science/ Quality Control/ Project Management/Information Technology) advantageous
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
    • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams 
    • Quality assurance/control and use of related computer software
    • Ability to deal with and escalate issues to Production Lead
    • Ability to communicate up- and downstream

    Project Manager - IT

    Lead the delivery of IT projects from project initiation to transition to operations so as to deliver projects on time and within budget and to meet the desired business objectives. Follow the Astron Energy Value Office (VO) and Project Delivery Process (PDP) processes to ensure adherence to governance and project management guidelines. Manage projects through the PDP phases of identify and assess; select; define; execute and operate, review and track value. Key focus areas include: strong leadership, clear and timely decision making, stakeholder engagement, managing costs and measuring value, focus on health, safety and compliance.

    • Take projects from idea phase and frame appropriately to meet the project and business objectives through scoping, considering the alternatives and selecting the desired alternative 
    • Develop conceptual designs, the scope of work and associated business case
    • Take through various phase gates to ensure proper project governance
    • Seek funding approval and track and report on the budget
    • Establish project plan and initiate project mobilization
    • Confirm design specifications, design solutions and then build and test during the execution phase
    • Secure resources and define roles and responsibilities
    • Monitor and control execution of project though PDP phases
    • Provide leadership and decision making support by establishing project governance
    • Perform project reporting including overall performance, action tracking and maintenance of decision logs
    • Early identification and management of project risks 
    • Project completion documentation
    • Ensure IT Projects are effectively managed, enabling them to be on time, to budget and to the expected quality level
    • Contract Management – proficient at contract management if required for project execution, tracking milestones and delivery via 3rd party contracts
    • Excellent stakeholder engagement across IT, the business and 3rd parties involved in project execution

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field, or equivalent work experience desired.
    • Diploma/Certificate in Project Management, PMP, Agile/scrum, Prince2 desired

    Work Experience: 

    • 10 or more years’ experience, preferably in petro chemical industry with a focus on Retail Service Stations, IT and/or the Refinery
    • 10+ years of program/project management experience

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Strong track record of on-time, on-budget and to-specification delivery of projects
    • Organization and time management skills to keep projects on track and within budget
    • Excellent resource planning and task scheduling skills
    • Ability to work under pressure; in stressful situations to tight timelines; sometimes on multiple projects simultaneously
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills to handle any issues that occur during project completion
    • Strong reporting and co-ordination skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and management and explain technical issues
