    Category Manager: Own fleet - Cape Town

    Purpose of the Job

    • To lead a cross-functional team to achieve lowest total cost ownership (TCO), while improving service and quality for the purchased commodities and to add value to the bottom line, through assessing, managing and reducing the commodity spend.

    What you'll have done before:

    Baseline

    • NQF Level 7 (Degree in Supply Chain/ Transport Economics or related)
    • 8 years Procurement experience including developing/executing sourcing strategy, including appropriate Vendor Selection or Vendor Performance Management experience
    • Procurement Category Management experience

    Advantageous

    • Degree in Engineering
    • Certification equivalent to CIPS
    • Experience in national company
    • Commercial analysis/negotiation experience

    What you'll be doing:

    Category Management 

    • Manage the assigned sub-category by building and executing strategic sourcing plans and category management plan supported by in-depth analysis of purchasing demand, supplier, market, price/cost structures, generate suppliers bid list and assessment criteria, execute the bidding process, drive the negotiation strategy and prepare & operationalize the contract to ensure delivery of business objectives.

    Supplier Relationship Management

    • Develop and ensure sustainable and effective supplier relationship management through reliable supply base and build partnerships with strategic suppliers, lead pre-qualification of potential suppliers, develop clear strategy to optimize allocation of spend across suppliers, review supplier performance  and assess supplier risks, develop supplier segmentation by category, interface with senior suppliers executives to set supplier management targets, manage end-to-end contract management life cycle and develop mitigation plans to ensure delivery and performance of suppliers as per agreed SLA's.

    Procurement Savings

    • Deliver on sub-category savings and goals in alignment with sub-categories savings targets and operational goals with Category Head in order to drive execution of initiatives to achieve targets and goals.

    Procure to Pay Process Management

    • Monitor and drive smooth execution of transaction process by providing visibility to business, managing and escalating transactional risks to ensure delivery of business objectives.

    Business Interfacing and Support

    • Drive interactions with business to understand requirements and align on demand planning and forecasts using relevant division's business plans to develop effective procurement strategy and ensure alignment with the team.

    What you've done before

    Baseline:

    • Consultation with various internal Departments and External Contractors at various Management levels
    • Taken an engineering project through stages from concept, draft design, costing & BOQ, final design, procurement process to implementation
    • At least 5 years of engineering related experience. Petroleum or similar Industry experience an advantage
    • Mechanical Engineering equivalent work experience and your BTech: Mechanical Engineering
    • Deep knowledge of fault finding
    • SLA attention and promptness in addressing issues with urgency 
    • Ability to interface with many people and work independently 
    • Demonstrated ability to cut through masses of data to determine facts
    • Experience in cost-risk assessments in practical project decision making
    • Knowledge of SAP R3
    • Driver's Licence Code 8
    • Management of 3rd Party Contractors (Technical/Financial/HSE/Quality)
    • Capital and operational cost estimates 
    • Ensuring Designs maintained in line with HSE, legal, cost and efficiency objectives

    Advantageous:

    • Ability to work successfully in an ever-changing environment and navigate ambiguity
    • Demonstrated ability to network and manage stakeholders
    • Advanced facilitation and consulting skill or desire to acquire same
    • SAP PM Experience 
    • Knowledge of Petrochemical Industry Standards 
    • Experience in design, costing, tendering
    • Advanced organizational skills 

    What you'll be doing

    • Undertake engineering projects and maintenance at Retail Service Stations so as to ensure that the design, construction, maintenance and operation of the company’s physical assets and facilities are at all times constructed and maintained to Engen’s and Regulatory standards.
    • Ensure that the Engen Brand and Safety of Retail Sites are maintained at all times
    • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Project Management and database management
    • Project completion on time, within budget and operating as designed 
    • Onsite Incident Response Management
