    Risk Management Intern

    About the role

    This is a great opportunity for you to acquire experience in all aspects of reinsurance risk management. You would provide support for the Risk Management Function responsible for the Swiss Re Europe ("SRE") legal entity and its UK Branch ("SRE UK"), as well as risk management support to the Swiss Re Africa ("SRAf") legal entity.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Contribute to managing and monitoring the operational risk framework of SRAf (including Risk Control Self-Assessment process, analysis and resolution of operational events and issues and mitigation actions), and document material changes to any aspects of the risk profile.
    • Contribute to SRAf's Own Risk and Solvency Assessment ("ORSA") process. This includes being involved both in the quantitative and qualitative aspects feeding into the process.
    • Support in completing regulatory requests such as questionnaires/surveys across SRE, SRE UK and SRAf as required.
    • Contribute to the quarterly risk reports presented to the SRE, SRE UK and SRAf Management Committee and Board of Directors.
    • Support with maintaining the Risk Radar for SRE UK and SRAf.
    • Provide support to thematic reviews performed by the EMEA RM team.
    • Provide support on project management for specific initiatives.
    • Champion a culture of risk awareness among staff by questioning and engaging with them in their daily work.

    About You
    You have:

    • A university degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Insurance.
    • Strong numerical skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills in English.
    • Ability to assimilate and summarize issues clearly and concisely.

    Financial Planning Analyst

    About the role

    You will act as intermediary between the Finance und Sales teams. Therefore, this position offers an outstanding opportunity to get an overview of some of the most complex and interesting insurance products of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

     Key responsibilities include:

    • Bound business controlling and financial projections for business in South Africa, collaborating with underwriting, operations, reserving and finance team Johannesburg.
    • Support the legal entity finance team with local requirements, ensuring timely and accurate quarterly closing and annual planning for the South African entity.
    • Provide insightful analytics for portfolio optimization and profitability reviews.

    About you

    With your analytical skillset and aptitude for numbers you enjoy working in Finance. Your strong interpersonal skills make it easy for you to interact with colleague and business partners in a large global corporation.

    Essentials:

    • University graduate with a primary or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in finance/accounting/economics.

    Marketing Actuarial Graduate

    About the Role

    We are seeking an intellectually curious, highly motivated, and passionate Graduate to join our Life & Health (L&H) Client Markets Team in Cape Town. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the pricing of life & health business and the development and design of products and services to meet our client's needs.

    You will support us by providing high-quality actuarial input to both clients and the cross-functional team within Swiss Re. Through teamwork and collaboration, you will gain a deep understanding of the L&H reinsurance market, learn about our various products, how we conduct pricing, and how to sign off quotes from a technical standpoint. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to projects and the development of innovative, market-leading reinsurance solutions relevant to the wider Swiss Re Group.

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

    • Support Senior Client Managers with new business development and collaborate with specialists to present Swiss Re's solutions to clients.
    • Assist with day-to-day pricing work across different lines of business in target markets.
    • Perform analysis on data related to emerging risk experiences.
    • Contribute to the design of insurance products in line with the pricing basis and risk management environment.
    • Provide quotes to clients, specifically for group risk benefits.
    • Collect, analyze, and present data for annual industry-wide surveys.

    • Re/insurance experience gained through vacation work or internships.
    • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., R).
