    Plant Operator (Reactor – Calcium & Magnesium Nitrate)

    Job Description    

    • Ensures that standard operating procedure (SOP’s) and job cards are strictly adhered to.
    • Follows the laid down works instructions for the operation of plant/equipment under the incumbent’s control.
    • Produces calcium and magnesium nitrate by reacting prescribed amounts of Calcite or Magnesite respectively with weak Nitric Acid by weight.
    • Transfers raw Calcite or Magnesite from the stores to the hoist with forklift.
    • Hoists bags of Calcite or Magnesite and adds contents to the reactor via a screw feeder and a bucket elevator. Care must be taken to avoid excessive foaming.
    • Adjust the pH with ammonia to stop the reaction.
    • Ensure that the Plant Operator accepts responsibility for each batch produced and that the job cad is signed for plants under the incumbent’s control.
    • To ensure that machinery/equipment under the incumbent’s responsibility is kept in good and safe working conditions.
    • Pump batch from the reactor to stop intermediate storage tank.
    • Required to conform to relevant SHEQ rules and regulations as per company policy.
    • Required to assist with stocktakes as and when required.
    • Ensure accurate and honest reporting of incidents, near misses and safety hazards.
    • Required to drive a forklift when required and required to maintain medical fitness to drive a forklift in order to have the forklift driver’s license renewed successfully.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Minimum education Grade 12
    • Post matric qualification in a chemical plant operation advantageous
    • Minimum of a 2 years’ relevant experience in production
    • Previous production experience in an agricultural chemical plant would be advantageous.
    • Required to work shifts
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team and be deadline driven.
    • Proficient in English.

    Explosive Engineer

    Job Description    

    • Continuously monitor and provide feedback to the relevant Regional Manager on market intelligence, which forms the base for identifying key strategic issues facing customer portfolios.
    • Compile and maintain Key Account Management Plans (KAMP) through the use of the Sales Process consistent with the AECI Mining strategy and objectives.
    • Differentiate AECI MINING service and products by identifying and implementing value adding activities beneficial to all customers (including non-business customers such as CIE and IOM and AECI Mining.
    • Set and implement KAMP’s to ensure achievement of the market and sales objectives.
    • Establish long term relationships with key decision-makers and influencers on individual mines.
    • Provide excellent service on all aspects of explosive and accessory products and their uses, including auditing of product application and performance underground and giving recommendations to correct deficiencies. Complaints from customers to be handled swiftly and competently to their satisfaction.
    • Determine and prepare the product sales budget, and in conjunction with the Regional Manager decide the appropriate product mix to achieve maximum trading product, market share and other business parameters. Achievement to be measured by means of the balance scoreboard and market share.
    • Compile annual operating cost budget and submit to Regional Manager for approval. Monitors cost on a monthly basis through balanced scoreboard and ensure operation within agreed budget and justification for over expenditure.
    • Ensure compliance with AECI Mining Safe Working Practices, the OSH Act, the Explosives Act and the Minerals Act.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Tertiary mining qualification, e.g. B.Sc. Mining Engineering or National Higher Diploma and a Mine Overseers or Managers Certificate.
    • Must have completed the Explosives Engineer course
    • Must have technical experience of at least three years in a mining environment
    • Computer literate
    • The incumbent must be able to pass in-house courses on:
    • SPIN, Presentation Skills, Negotiation Profitable Partnerships, Letter Writing Skills and Persuasive Presentation Skills

    Accounts Payable Administrator

    Job Description    

    • Engage with stakeholders at an operational level to address any service delivery issues
    • Comply with all legislation relating to accounting matters
    • Identify internal control weaknesses and assist in developing and implementing improvement opportunities
    • Ensure compliance with SLA criteria (specific to area of responsibility)

    • Exposure to processing transactions with PO conditions within an Accounts Payable context will be an advantage.

    Quality Controller - Burgersdorp

    Job Description    

    • Check the general condition of the bags i.e. if flaking, faded and clean before use in production
    • Check If the bags are dry
    • Check if the inner bags are properly stitched and labelled
    • Check if the outer bags are properly stitched and labelled
    • Check the condition of the pallets used
    • Check that maximum weight on the pallets are not exceeded
    • Check if the correct pallet is used and that it is strapped properly
    • Check that slip sheets are used at the bottom and top of the pallets
    • Check for protruding nails and loose panels after strapping that no broken pallets are loaded
    • Check that pallets are dusted and clean before loading
    • Perform other ad hock Quality and Safety related tasks as required
    • Ensuring strict adherence to SHE policies.
    • Ensuring compliance to Quality standards.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric / Grade 12.
    • Computer knowledge of MS office is a prerequisite
    • Previous relevant experience in an industrial environment or related experience in the Animal Feed industry will be advantageous

    Myco Production Team Leader - Somerset West

    Job Description    
    Greenhouse Management: Management of integrated pest control in respect of insect, plant disease and weeds; nutrient stress and deficiency iro fertigation program; water stress in water program; arrange and manage all greenhouse repairs, drafting and management of cleaning and maintenance schedule; oversee use of drive motor and conveyor system in newly acquired tunnels ensuring correct and safe usage thereof, troubleshooting issues related to functioning of equipment and report any issues.
    Liaison with Technical personnel iro forecasting production needs and attend monthly meetings with stakeholders to address production forecasting challenges and bottlenecks.

    Oversee and participate in monthly stocktakes; interpret data to identify and implement appropriate improvements; explore innovative ways in which cultivation methods can be optimised; order consumables for the Greenhouses and manage Myco-production budget.

    • Washing & Processing Plants: Management of production team, to ensure highly driven and motivated work ethic within team.Depending on daily demand process approximately 74-148 crates/day; draft and manage cleaning and maintenance schedules; arrange and manage repairs; oversee and participate in monthly stocktake of Myco powder and raw materials; assume responsibility for traceability system for all produced Myco powder and drive regular improvements ito recordkeeping, grading and sampling process.
    • Liaise with QC Dept for quality control of graded Myco powder; issue Myco powder to Processing Dept to ensure traceability system is adhered to and regularly conduct trials to improve spore recovery during harvesting process.
    • Administrative Functions: Maintain greenhouse records; develop and capture protocols and SOP’s for greenhouses, Wash & Processing plants; obtain sign off on all protocols and SOP’s; arrange weekly meetings with Technical Manager to discuss objectives and planning for the week and month; compile annual timeline plans for production of Mycorrhizae.
    • Quality Control – Root Colonisation and Disease Clinic
    • Driving: Collection of consumables, samples as well as delivery of samples; support other divisions with driving requests; utilise tractor and trailer to transport crates or waste product when needed.
    • IT & ELECTRONIC BACK-UPS: Back up documents electronically and ensure hard drive is secured in the server room daily.
    • Ad Hoc Tasks: On occasion perform ad hoc tasks as and when required which includes but is not limited to assist Myco Lab in maintaining Mycorrhizae mother cultures and new isolates; R&D Dept and Quality Control Dept in planting, execution, harvesting and processing of trials; feasibility studies and inputs on new projects and/or developments.

     
    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Minimum Grade 12 with tertiary qualification of a National Diploma Agriculture or B.Sc. Agric degree.
    • A certificate or diploma in Management/Supervisory skills advantageous.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience in the relevant field.
    • Must possess previous management/supervisory experience of subordinates.
    • Sound working knowledge of horticultural and agronomy principals.
    • Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems requirements advantageous.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Outlook).
    • Possess knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license, have own reliable transport and must be medically fit to drive.
    • Must be available after hours to oversee contractors if needed.

    • Communicate regularly with Key Account Sales Representatives and Customer Experience teams, and respond to customer delivery queries received via mail, providing updates on delivery schedules, addressing any potential issues, and proactively highlighting any risks

    • Previous experience working with Co-Op accounts advantageous
    • Must be fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans due to the nature of the customer base.
