    Shaft Timberman

    Job Description

    • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation and health, safety, environmental and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
    • Completes pre-start and daily maintenance checks on equipment and safety devices before commencing work.
    • Maintains equipment and accessories to required standards and reports and replaces sub-standard components.
    • Plan execution of work orders according to resource requirements.
    • Identify work for specialist technicians and allocating resources and equipment according to priorities.
    • Conducts all installation and construction work in the shafts in accordance with diagrams and standards.
    • Communicate operational problems to appropriate supervisor or manager in terms of blasting hanging boxes, blasting in decline area as well as other process defects to appropriate processors.

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
    • Certified competent Shaft Timberman
    • Onsetter Certificate
    • Blasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock/Equivalent qualification
    • Required classification as per VTS testing for specific role Orange
    • Valid EB/Code 8 Drivers License

    Experience & knowledge required:

    • Minimum of 5 years underground mining experience of which at least 1 year must have been as a Shaft Timberman
    • Knowledge and experience in performing shaft examination and maintenance
    • Knowledge and experience in blasting of shaft ore passes
    • Knowledge and understanding of underground mining practices and Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining.
    • Underground drilling and blasting knowledge and skills, together with those required as an Onsetter and a Shaft Timberman
    • Computer skills

    Other requirements:

    • Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role may require
    • Must have strong administrative and organisational skills
    • Ability to work under pressure, be independent and a self-starter
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground. Medical assessment will include vertigo and claustrophobia amongst others. Able to tolerate physical exertion
    • The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric and technical assessments and security clearance

    Mobile Crane Operator

    Job Description

    • Safely operate and manoeuvre mobile cranes to lift, move, and position heavy loads within mining sites.
    • The Work: Key Outputs and Accountabilities
    • Safety, Health and Environment
    • Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment
    •  Active participation in safety initiatives, i.e. SLAM, HPH
    • Conduct the required safety interventions before undertaking any tasks
    • Ensure a clear working area, legibility and visibility of safety signs and attend to spillage material to prevent contamination and pollution; keep a record of actions taken.
    • Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.

    Performance and Delivery
    Equipment and Load Handling:

    • Collaborate with the relevant team to coordinate lifting and positioning activities.
    • Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Conduct pre-operational checks on the crane to ensure it is in proper working condition.
    • Navigate the crane through the mining site, considering terrain, obstacles, and other site-specific conditions.
    • Coordinate with spotters and ground crews to ensure safe crane movements and maintain effective communication using hand signals, radio, or other means.
    • Operate mobile cranes to lift and move heavy materials, machinery, and equipment at mining sites.
    • Move cranes into position, considering load weight, capacity, and site conditions.
    • Lift, lower, and swing loads using the crane's hoisting mechanisms.
    • Rig loads properly to ensure stability and safety during lifting operations.

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12/N3 Technical
    • Mobile Crane Licence
    • Code 14 Drivers License

    • 2 -3 years’ relevant mobile crane experience
    • Pre-shift inspection procedures

    Job Description

    • Technical Discipline specific qualifications and authorization(Loco / Loader, Development or Stoping RDO, Refresher , Mining Team Supervisor, Scraper winch and Drop Raise)
    • SA Drivers Licence

    Experience:

    • 4 years relevant experience in discipline or equivalent environment.

    Technical knowledge(experience) required for role:

    • Knowledge of training principles, methodologies, and best practices for designing and delivering effective training programs.
    • Familiarity with instructional design techniques, adult learning theories, and training evaluation methods.
    • Understanding of relevant safety regulations, equipment operation procedures, technical skills, or compliance requirements within the industry
