    Estimator (Sheet Metal)

    • You are a meticulous and highly skilled Estimator with a background in sheet metal, manufacturing, fabrication or the mining sector?     What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

    • You will oversee the manufacturing and engineering operations for specialized mining ventilation products, ensuring efficient estimating, pricing, production, and delivery. Your main responsibilities will include estimating special fabricated jobs, costing standard products, and performing material take-outs. You’ll interpret and check drawings, plan and assist with the execution of fabrications, and update production plans. Additionally, you’ll compile schedules, manage material procurement, review quotations, and maintain accurate job bookings via the SYSPRO ERP system. Your project management experience and strong administrative and technical skills will streamline processes and drive the company’s success.

    What you’ll need

    • To excel in this role, you should have a proven track record as an Estimator, preferably in the manufacturing, sheet metal or mining sector. A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (minimum N3 qualification) is preferred. Proficiency in Planning Software (Microsoft Projects) and AutoCAD (DXF) is advantageous. You should have at least 5 years of experience in a sheet metal or fabrication/engineering environment. High computer literacy, particularly in Excel, and strong technical skills are essential.

    • You’re meticulous, detail-oriented, and have a sharp eye for quality. With your strong background in quality control and welding inspection, you thrive in ensuring products meet the highest standards. You might also have experience in engineering, particularly in plate, structural, with a focus on vessels and tanks. You’re proactive, able to identify potential issues before they arise, and have a commitment to maintaining safety and quality at all times.     • In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring that all products meet established quality and safety standards. You’ll perform quality inspections according to approved quality control plans (QCPs), verify materials and welding consumables against their certificates, and ensure compliance with client specifications. Your day will involve in-process inspections of workshop and site activities, dimensional checks, and overseeing final product releases. Additionally, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the data book throughout the manufacturing process, requesting necessary non-destructive tests (NDTs), and arranging pressure tests. Your experience with vessels, tanks, and structural elements will be invaluable in ensuring that all aspects of the production process meet the company’s high standards.
