PURPOSE OF ROLE
Lesedi Nuclear Services is seeking an experienced and skilled Process Engineer to join our Industrial Division team. This is a critical role responsible for producing process designs, providing specialist inputs, leading commissioning efforts for projects, and supporting our multi-disciplinary engineering organisation.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Generate concept, preliminary and basic front-end process designs including flow sheets, P&IDs, specifications and more
- Size, select and specify process equipment like rotating equipment, vessels, tanks, hydraulic systems, heat exchangers, instrumentation
- Develop material and service specifications for projects
- Review process designs and facilitate HAZOP/FMECA studies
- Perform design optimizations, root cause analysis and continuous improvement
- Support plant layout reviews for operability and maintainability
- Participate in FATs, receipt inspections, testing and commissioning activities
- Provide process engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle
- Lead process engineering efforts for project tenders/proposals
- Support contract negotiations with technical inputs
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Eng. in Chemical Engineering
- Professional Engineering registration with ECSA
- Minimum 5 years of relevant process engineering experience
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge:
- Thorough understanding of process engineering principles and practices for industrial and utility industries
- Knowledge of OHS Act, regulations and its application
- Familiarity with ISO quality management systems
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and GAMP 5 guidelines
- Knowledge of production processes and plant maintenance requirements
Skills:
- Proficiency in developing process designs (flow sheets, P&IDs, specifications)
- Proficiency in heat and mass balances
- Ability to size, select and specify process equipment like rotating machinery, vessels, tanks, hydraulics, heat exchangers, instrumentation
- Skills in hazard analysis techniques like HAZOPs and FMECAs
- Expertise in performing design optimizations, root cause analysis, continuous improvement

Job purpose
The QA Support is responsible for raising Purchase Requisitions, approving Purchase Orders, Procurement Information Analysis, and maintaining the Lesedi Integrated Management System.
This position also ensures that the procedures with respect to procurement control, associated documentation requirements, archiving, retention, and the disposal of documents are established and followed and where gaps are identified address shortfall. Control and direct procurement documents generated by the department and utilize IFS to pull reports and gather data, supporting the analysis of campaign performance.
The main focus areas of the role are:
- Receives, processes, records, coordinates, and distributes Quality data.
- Files product specifications, supplier requirement catalogues, and any relevant procedural documentation.
- Analyses Quality information and supports Quality processes in assigned units.
- Accumulates statistical data and performs special research, verification and data gathering projects on request.
- Cooperates with institutes, authorities, suppliers and auditors, clarifies and provides requested data.
- Meets with Quality Assurance personnel to establish project requirements for material presented to customers and others
- Generate Cost Reporting reports on all BU project data
Qualifications:
- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Financial Management
- Excellent understanding of Computer tools
Experience:
- Experience as a Finance administrator at a mid-senior level in a Technical environment advantageous
- 4-6 years Advanced experience in Configuration Control Activities throughout the EPC Project Lifecycle
- Must be proficient in MS Office applications and Acrobat Adobe
- Must understand basic principles of Engineering / Procurement / Construction and Project Management documents.
- Must have Knowledge of Electronic Document Management Systems.
Knowledge, and behavioural competencies required for the position:
- Knowledge in use of spreadsheets, database, word processing and selected job specific software.
- Ability to keep clear and accurate records and reports.

- Be able to effectively manage and control project deliverable documentation throughout the project lifecycle

- Experience with set-up of Document Control hard copy filing systems (‘Master’ hard copy storage)

PURPOSE OF ROLE
- Produce quality technical outputs which satisfy all requirements (Clients, Codes and Standards) by adhering to internal engineering processes. The position is a technical role, with interface and liaison with the client and other outside parties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- C&I systems design and engineering:
- Assistance with P&ID development
- Control system architecture design
- Compilation of functional specification suitable for PLC and SCADA programming
- Detail compilation of C&I design documentation
- Engaging with the draughting office for the development of relevant C&I drawings
- Compilation of Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
- Managing the C&I interfaces with other disciplines.
- Participation in and management of procurement and installation contracts and documentation, including tender evaluation.
- Assistance during the fabrication phase of all projects, attending FATs.
- Assisting with tender compilation:
- Project cost estimations (including the compilation of Bill of Quantities (BOQs))
- Compilation of tender scope of work.
- Participation in Testing and commissioning of C&I systems, as needed.
- Ensuring compliance to company and project technical and QA requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc (Eng) or B Eng (Electrical/Electronic) degree or equivalent qualification.
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
- Minimum 10 years relevant multi-disciplinary project design experience in process plant for mining and metallurgy, power or the petrochemical industry.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BSc (Eng) or B Eng degree in Electrical Engineering.

- Minimum 10 years relevant multi-disciplinary project design experience, especially in the Power Generation Industry
- Working knowledge of OHS Act and the Regulations
- Working knowledge of the Environmental Legislation
- Working knowledge of SANS & IEC codes, Safety Management Standards and ISO 9001
- Knowledge and experience with the South African Grid Code
