    Security Reaction Officer - North West

    Purpose of Role

    • The Security Reaction Officer is responsible for the accountability for the management of the site in the absence of the senior on site. To perform the senior on site’s duties in his/her absence. 

    Role Context

    • Render a specialised operational support and assistance function during intelligence driven operations.
    • Stabilise serious crime incidents.
    • Combat public violence.
    • Supervise and control Public Order Policing events.
    • Direct and monitor crime operations/projects and combat serious and violent crimes.
    • Administer generic Public Order Policing support and administration.
    • Supervise and utilise human, financial, physical and information resources.
    • Manage the smooth day-to-day running of the relevant unit to ensure profitability.
    • Protection Services Reaction officer must peruse/check the Occurrence Book in the control centre on a daily basis and sign it off. Occurrence Book must be signed when visiting sites
    • Posting sheets to be signed off daily. Ensure security officers are posted on site according to the customer agreements/contacts.
    • Security Reaction officer must check the attendance register when visiting the site. All Officers shall sign the Register when reporting and after completing a shift.
    • The instruction book to be perused/checked by the Protection Services Reaction Officer and signed by all staff.
    • Assist with the checking of personal belongings, making sure that all personal belongings are checked. If for some reason a security officer’s personal belongings are not checked, this should be mentioned in the Occurrence Book. The Security Reaction Officer must make sure that a note is made of the fact the personal belongings are checked in the Occurrence Book.
    • Assist in checking the Inventory list with items on site. Check all equipment is in working order. Special attention must be given to radios, torches and clocks.
    • Over weekends and after hours the Security Reaction Officer should sign for the equipment if it is correct, if not a note must be made in the Occurrence Book.
    • Check that all the security officers sign the attendance register correctly. Discuss these with the senior on site and ask whether the Protection Services Manager would require any specific action.
    • Check the instruction book for any new instructions; if necessary clarify with the senior on site.
    • Check the turnout of the shift. Ensure to note any improper dress to be corrected. Complete the Rank Specification Report, on time report and the correct turnout report.
    • Give the security officers their specific instructions. Enter their names and posts in the Occurrence Book.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Certificate in supervisory development preferably in Public Order Policing and Tactical Response Team
    • PSIRA Grade A certificate
    • Firearm competency certificate
    • Computer Literacy
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Experience in managing an Electronic Room, CCTV, Digital Security Systems, Biometric system
    • Minimum of five years’ experience in supervisory role of two year in a Mining Environment

    Environmental Officer - North West

    Purpose of Role

    An Environmental Officer (EO) assist in the day- to -day running of the mine environmental management. Identifying and reviewing any potential environmental compliance issues arising from any environmental analysis and monitoring of key environmental indicators. The EO is regarded as an Environmental Control Officer (ECO) as required by the Department of Environmental Affairs and the Department of Water and Sanitation for the purpose of overseeing the control of the mining environmental management as far as water, waste, energy, emissions, biodiversity, land/soil, rehabilitation issues are concerned.

    Role Context

    • Ensuring regular site inspections and environmental sampling and analysis is carried out;
    • Preparation of environmental reports and tracking department performance against environmental key performances indicators and targets;
    • Assist in maintaining the ISO14001 standard by effectively monitoring key areas and conducting audits on a regular basis;
    • Maintain an effective administration system, ensuring that all environmental information is recorded and records maintained as per environmental system requirements.
    • To demonstrate flexibility;
    • Effectively work schedule to meet reporting and task completion deadlines;
    • Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, water management, greenhouse gas, recycling, conservation and renewable energy;
    • Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices;
    • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and keeping up to date with SA and other applicable international regulations and legislations related to mining and Environmental management;
    • Coordinating public participations and consultations on environmental matters;
    • Writing environmental reports, assuming the lead responsibility with the company;
    • Raising awareness, at all levels of an organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical, and social responsibility;
    • Carrying out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organisation's environmental risks and financial costs;
    • Environmental Monitoring - through the use of computer modelling, digital mapping and Geographic Information Systems.
    • Carryout inspections, conduct investigations, resolve conflict, and take appropriate action;
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret data;
    • Review and assess reports/proposals, and make recommendations;
    • Prepare environmental reports;
    • Appraise pollution/contaminant treatment and control technologies, and provide related technical advice;
    • Conduct monitoring projects in support of studies, programs, and the development of guidelines and standards;
    • Identify, interpret, and advise on concerns and issues, and recommend alternatives for their mitigation and resolution.
    • Communicate effectively and represent the department with local government officials, external government agencies, industry representatives, consultants, non-governmental organizations, department staff, and the public;

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12;
    • Tertiary bachelor's degree/\National Diploma in a relevant field (i.e., Environmental Science or Environmental Management);
    • Environmental short courses (i.e., ISO 14001 Management System, Environmental Law for Environmental Managers)

    Job specific experience:

    • 2– 3 years’ relevant experience in the Mining Industry;
    • Computer Literate.

    Weighbridge Operator - North West

    Purpose of Role

    The job purpose of the Weighbridge operator role is to manage the loading and certificating of all products produced by the Process plants. A key aspect of the role is maintaining the access point relating to drivers who is allowed to collect or deliver products as per product schedules.

    Assisting the Stock controller to achieve the required Quality parameters as required by the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for this role. The Weighbridge operator’s role includes carrying out stockpile Inspections, Sampling duty, scale checks, housekeeping and maintaining loading as per set and agreed standards and procedures. Delivering on these activities will develop sales of the quality products and services we offer. All activities will comply with all legal, brand/banner, SOPS and professional requirements

    Role Context

    • Ensure all inventory and stock requirements are maintained accurately;
    • Responsibility for releasing the “in-stock” levels within the agreed inventory parameters.( dry times );
    • Assist drivers to register on system when reporting to load promptly;
    • Immediately alert the Stock controller superintendent and Logistic Manager when a parameter has been negatively affected by external objects visible to them at time of inspections;
    • Maintain a process for sampling. Manage a defined area in the stockyard for sweepings. This area will include damaged and un-saleable goods;
    • Maintain harmonious working relationship with Transporters/Vendors within the operating parameters set by the business;
    • Observe the correct requirement protocols;
    • Observe correct stock protocols;
    • Complete all necessary stock levels documentation;
    • Maintain the stacker pads and the allocation of space for stock;
    • Have a working knowledge of trek system and Tontrac systems to load and cancel transactions when authorized to do so;
    • Comply with Tharisa Policy, Guidelines and procedures;
    • Consistently deliver customer service in accordance with our customer service standards;
    • Comply with our required personal grooming standards;
    • Use the Trek and or Ton Trac system to drive store information and maintain records of logistic stock performance;
    • Maintain Plan Housekeeping to the required standard, excluding Pragma.
    • Attend training as directed;
    • At all times comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements;
    • Maintain good working relationships with your Manager and your peers;
    • Comply with all aspects of the Standard Operating Procedures manual;
    • Other work as directed by the Manager/Business Owner.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 (Passed subjects, Maths and Science);
    • NQF Level 2 Mineral Processing Programme Skills.

    Job specific experience:

    • 15 Months’ experience as an Attendant in a metallurgical Process Operation / Laboratory assistant;
    • Literacy and Numeracy;
    • Computer Skills.

    • Must be medically fit.
