    District Laboratory Coordinator (OR Tambo)

    Purpose of the position:

    • The District Laboratory Coordinator will provide district laboratory support to address bottlenecks and improve laboratory service utilisation. Act as a district point of contact for laboratory activities working in liaison with the department of health focal person and HAST manager. Support will include largely CLI activities through facility support employing continuous quality improvement approach

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Qualified as a Medical Technologist
    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Health Science or Medical field
    • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the field and 3 years managerial and supervisory experience
    • Knowledge of the laboratory data systems and HIV/TB programmes including epidemiological background
    • Excellent relationship-building skills and stakeholder development experience
    • Valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel long distances weekly.
    • Clear criminal record
    • This position requires dedicated availability to deal with project priorities, which is not limited to working hours

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Support implementation and understanding of the contents of the PHC Laboratory Handbooks to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of their roles at facility level
    • Support sub-district and facility management teams to meet at least 6 monthly with local laboratory services (district health team & regional laboratory) to address bottlenecks in processing specimens and results (i.e., turnaround time or TAT) and improve laboratory service utilisation
    • Provide technical support for stakeholder forums including reporting and feedback sessions
    • Strengthen facility laboratory activities to apply SOPs: infection control; phlebotomy; recording & storage of samples; management of laboratory results containing and disposing of hazardous waste
    • Development of a district laboratory support operational plan working closely with the DoH HAST Manager and District Laboratory Advisor

    Support implementation of the district laboratory, including but not limited to:

    • Integration of district laboratory support with all project stakeholders;
    • Implementation of systems, tools and procedures to facilitate the district laboratory support component of the project;
    • Training, mentoring and support of the district team as defined by the project scope;
    • Ensuring appropriate progress with regards to the laboratory support component in the district;
    • Ensuring appropriate quality of laboratory support in the district and;
    • Development and implementation of corrective action, in cooperation with the project team
    • Track / monitor CLI related activities and information and prepare / present status reports for the C&T Regional Manager
    • Track and review facility reports with development and implementation of corrective action/ continuous quality improvement (CQI)
    • Provide technical support for stakeholder forums including all reporting and feedback

    Clinic-Laboratory Interface (CLI) Advisor

    Purpose of the position:

    • The CLI (Clinic Laboratory Interface) Advisor will be responsible for strengthening and coordination of CLI activities across THC supported districts including specific support for Amathole district laboratory activities.
    • This role will drive and lead the development and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs)/ corrective measures as indicated. The CLI Advisor will also provide technical support and coordinate stakeholder forums including all reporting and feedback.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Qualified as a Medical Technologist
    • Must have a bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Health Science or Medical field
    • Post graduation qualification will be an added advantage
    • Minimum of 7-10 year’s experience in the field and 5 years managerial and supervisory experience
    • Knowledge of the laboratory data systems and HIV/TB programmes including epidemiological background
    • Excellent relationship-building skills and stakeholder development experience
    • Valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel long distances
    • Clear criminal record

    • Strengthen provincial and district laboratory practices to apply SOPs: infection control; phlebotomy; recording & storage of samples; management of laboratory results containing and disposing of hazardous waste
    • Support implementation and understanding of the contents of the PHC Laboratory Handbooks to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of their roles at facility level
    • Working closely with District Laboratory Coordinators (DLC’s) to support project-speci?c activities and deliverables
    • Specifically coordinate the work of DLC’s and approve work schedules, Travel Requests and Travel Claims
    • Track / monitor CLI related activities and information to prepare status reports for review by the Programme Director
    • Organize and facilitate team meetings with DLC’s to communicate programme progress.
    • Analyse details related to facility monitoring data as per reports
    • Track and review facility visit reports as submitted by DLC’s
    • Track and review DLC’s with the development and implementation of corrective action/ Quality Improvement plans (QIP’s) as indicated
    • Attend NHLS meetings and other engagements as delegated and required
    • Development of a Laboratory Services Facility support SOP and Checklists to support CLI activities to improve efficiencies

    Records Officer

    Purpose of the position:

    • To support pre-retrieval and filing reorganisation in identified sites through collaboration with data capturers and also to provide administrative support and validate patient health records for accuracy and completeness in DoH facilities. Generate daily reports on number of files retrieved, processed and reported. 

    Minimum Requirements    

    • National Senior Certificate/Grade 12
    • Knowledge of records management and filing (data capture experience will be advantageous)
    • One year experience or exposure working in HIV and TB programmes
    • Proficiency in English and isiXhosa languages

    Data Capturer_CT

    Purpose of the position:

    • The Data Capturer will be responsible for capturing all programme data from the Global Fund People Who Inject Drugs Programme. He/she will work with the M&E Officer in ensuring data quality by following the data flows, M&E guidance and plans for the programme. When applicable, support the M&E Officer in analysing data to improve programmatic performance.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Qualification of Matric Certificate/Grade 12
    • Minimum 2 years of data capturing experience
    • Experience working on Tier.net & other National databases (i.e. ETR, DHIS, RedCap)
    • Experience in capturing data, maintaining and/or updating databases, data analysis, data management process, de-duplication & Programmatic data tools and systems,
