    Project Administrator - Cape Town, Pretoria or Durban

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 (National Certificate).
    • A relevant post-matric qualification in fields such as Office Administration/ Public Administration/ Management or Administration will be advantageous.
    • Five years’’ experience in a similar environment.
    • A proven track record, and significant knowledge and understanding administrative best practices.
    • Personal credibility.
    • Advanced computer literacy/proficiency across the MS Office suite.
    • Strong administrative experience in research or similar environment.
    • Excellent inter-personal, skills.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Presentation skills.
    • Financial acumen and knowledge of excel and figures
    • Drive, initiative, flexibility, and a proven track record to handle pressure, and a commitment to service excellence to stakeholders.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Provide efficient administrative and organizational support to projects in the Impact Centre
    • Prepare meeting agendas and materials for meetings; minute taking and record keeping of proceedings;
    • Organize and manage all events details such as catering, transportation, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material for the Projects
    • Maintain project databases and file project related documents and keep databases;
    • Maintain assets database for the project and ensure that assets for the project are properly managed;
    • Ensure compliance with all admin and finance policies of the HSRC;
    • Manage Supply Chain Management requests for the project
    • Assist with logistical responsibilities including post, courier, office management, reception of visitors;
    • Facilitate printing, equipment and other project requirements;
    • In delivering ‘social science that makes a difference’, the Human Sciences Research Council initiates and undertakes policy-oriented research projects and programmes from its offices in Cape Town, Durban, and Pretoria. Its public-purpose mandate is set out in the Human Sciences Research Council Act of 2008.
    • Ensure that time billing is up to date for staff assigned to the projects;
    • Process claims and payments;
    • Facilitate travel arrangements for researchers and other employees for the projects where assistance is requested and project-based travel when required.
    • Assist in preparing quarterly reports on the project.

    PhD Research Trainee - Cape Town

    • The Trainee Programme in the HSRC is meant to provide the successful candidates with an opportunity to further develop their research expertise by working with subject experts and project specialists. The trainee experience is intensive and requires mature individuals who are able to work independently as well as in a team.  The successful individuals will be required to balance day to day duties and responsibilities in CeSTII and the HSRC with PhD related work and complete their thesis within the 3-year contractual period. Time is set aside for this purpose

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Applicants must be in possession of a master’s degree in a field closely related to the study of science, technology and innovation measurement in relation to sustainable and inclusive development, and should be registered for, or about to+ register for, a PhD with a registered South African University;
    • Experience in and understanding of the concepts of the National System of Innovation will be an added advantage;
    • Sound knowledge of data management and data analysis or statistical skills will be very advantageous.
    • A sound academic record;
    • Two – three years’ experience in the preparation of research reports and manuscripts for publication, whilst having peer reviewed articles in recognized journals will be advantageous;
    • Experience in communicating survey findings at conferences;
    • Curiosity, enthusiasm and interest in a research career that includes working with statistics and data analysis;
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, good communication and leadership skills are required;
    • Proficiency in or working experience with some or all of the following programmes: MS Access, Excel, Word, SPSS, STATA, NVivo/Atlas.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Working as required on all aspects of the Research and Development survey, Innovation survey, other projects, and analysis of resultant survey and other data.
    • Writing reports, fact sheets, and policy briefs from survey work and other projects.
    • Making demonstrable progress towards the achievement of a Doctoral degree.
    • Producing peer-reviewed research articles that appear in accredited
    • Writing up research results for workshops/conferences/presentations.
    • Developing own personal academic competencies through formal and informal training activities.
    • Assisting in organising and facilitating stakeholder workshops and other stakeholder engagements;
    • Assisting in drafting proposals for funding applications;
    • Compilation of all specific duties and deliverables assigned in an individual performance-based contract.

    Change Management Facilitator - Pretoria

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Proven experience in change management facilitation in public entities.
