    Learner Technologist: Microbiology: BHSc MLS - Centurion - 2024 in take

    Purpose of Position:

    • To perform bench work according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Microbiology Laboratory and to provide training to the employees on all benches under supervision.

    Requirements:

    • HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field  (Required), National Diploma in Medical Technology / Enrolment in Bachelor of Health Science Medical Laboratory Science  (Required)

    Required Experience:

    • 5 months work integrated learning in a training lab, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Examine microscopies on the various specimens in order to ensure correct interpretation of patient results, Interpret cultures in order to ensure that correct results are delivered timeously, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath, Perform general tasks in order to ensure that best practice is upheld within the laboratory, Perform identifications and sensitivities on positive cultures in order to ensure effective handling and processing of identifications and sensitivities, Perform receiving and resulting tasks on the Meditech system in order to ensure correct handling, preparing and recording of specimen and results., Perform relevant procedures in the TB laboratory in order to ensure effective handling and processing of TB cultures, Process specimens on benches in order to ensure sufficient delivery of results

    Technical Trainer: Immunology - Centurion

    Purpose of Position:

    • To train employees within the Immunology laboratory to ensure theoretical and practical competence and continuous improvement of skills.

    Requirements:

    • HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field (Required), National Diploma Biomedical Technology / Bachelor of Health Sciences Medical Laboratory Science (Required), Registered Assessor, Registered Facilitator, Registered Modertor

    Required Experience:

    • 1-2 years working experience as a technologist within the field of Serology or Immunology, 2 years immunology experience as a Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist within a pathology laboratory environment, General On the job training experience, Knowledge: GCP/GLP requirements, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: MS Word and MS Excel, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), Knowledge: Quality Control, Knowledge: relevant syllabi, Senior and / or supervisory or managerial experience, Subject matter expertise with regards to laboratory procedures and instruments

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assess staff in order to make judgements regarding staff competence, Design and develop training material and competency tools in outcomes based format to
    ensure effective transfer of skills, Facilitate syllabus aligned theoretical and practical training in preparation for board / UoT
    exit exams and bench proficiency, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath, Perform training related administration tasks in order to ensure effective planning of training and recording and storing of training data

    Purpose of Position:

    • To process specimens according to set criteria and standards in the Next Generation Sequencing Laboratory.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science: Medicine Honours: Human Genetics, HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field

    Required Experience:

    • 2 general working experience in Molecular Laboratory Environment, Experience on next generation sequencing platforms, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), Knowledge of Bioinformatics and Genomics software tools

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist with the implementation and quality assurance of new assays to ensure best practices are upheld., Assist with the training of learner scientist to ensure competence., Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath., Perform accreditation and quality control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld., Receive and process specimens in order to ensure efficient delivery of results.
