    Kitchen Manager - Onrus

    We are looking for a Kitchen Manager at our luxury retirement village within the Onrus Manor area. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing administrative functions of the kitchen, food wastage system, complete food ordering system, and stock management.

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

    Stock and Kitchen Management:

    • Ensure that all related Standards Operational Procedures are implemented and managed in the kitchen 
    • Responsible to ensure that all stock management (food and crockery) is performed correctly and as per procedure 
    • Stock is ordered via procurement as per procedure
    • Stock issuing to Chefs of the required stock quantities for the days meals based on resident bookings
    • Stock take to par level, counting of stock items on a daily/weekly basis to ensure that stock levels are correct
    • Waste management system is implemented and managed
    • Ensure accurate stock takes 
    • Investigate, manage and correct any discrepancies in stock levels
    • Kitchen equipment as per procedure 
    • Ensure stock is stored correctly and health and safety guidelines are followed
    • Monitor temperature control on fridges and freezers

    Staff Management

    • Conduct probation evaluations and performance evaluations of scullers

    Health and Safety

    • Implementing and managing HACCP controls
    • Attending monthly Health and Safety meetings

    Equipment Management

    • Fixed assets movement and disposal - Authorisation needed by Management on movement or disposal of assets.
    • Manage and maintain asset stock, ensure that assets are controlled and not abused
    • Report any discrepancies to management
    • Ensure accurate stock counts on assets on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and submit on time
    • Ensure that equipment is always clean

    Healthcare Manager

    The Healthcare Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the facility, ensuring all administrative and customer service requirements are delivered efficiently and effectively. 

    The Healthcare Manager will implement and oversee all clinical and nursing processes and liaise with the Multidisciplinary Team, medical professionals and families of residents. The Healthcare Manager also plays a pivotal role in the marketing of the facility to ensure full occupancy at all times.

    • Implement plans, prepare the facility and be present at all inspections (DOH and DSD)

    Requirements

    • Qualifications - NQF Level 7 and higher would be highly advantageous

    Registered Nurse - Southern Suburbs

    Clinical handover

    • Do morning handover according to ISBAR procedure with Shift leader on opposite shift and may delegate handover to duty Sr according to allocation

    • Daily reporting to the NSM on any interventions during the shift

    Medication 

    • Manage medication administration to the residents as per allocation

    • Manage any adverse effects by contacting Dr immediately for intervention and further treatment orders.

    MDT and Interaction with Professionals 

    • Regular MDT meetings with the in-house healthcare support team
    • Regular meetings with outside healthcare professionals and amend care plans and systems upon their recommendation of a specific resident  

    Resident admissions and Discharges 

    • Manage all admissions to the unit with the HCA and ensure all relevant requirements are in place and admission allocated to specific people  
    • Manage all documentation for admission, progress and discharge 
    • Assessment of patient upon admission
    • Draw up person-centered care plan 
    • Contact medical doctors and families
    • Organise medication for patients and follow up on scripts at discharge 
    • Manage discharge process with family and residents 

    Clinical tasks
    Responsible for all clinical functions as pre scope of Practice of a Registered Nurse, this includes but is not limited to:

    • Wound care, pressure care, ostomy care
    • Managing skin lesions
    • Catheter care including flushing intervention
    • Weighing patients on admission and according to care plan 
    • Do regular resident rounds to monitor that every resident is receiving the care required and that quality care for all tasks is maintained
    • Assess patients on specific areas of concern and adjust the care plan as needed
    • Ensure that Doctor’s prescriptions and physio recommendations are carried out and included in the nursing care plan
    • Consult with the NSM regarding any clinical concerns or quality of care issues 

    Risk management 

    • Educate and manage staff on health and safety-related issues
    • Maintain effective infection control practices 
    • Manage the prevention and reporting of incidents 
    • Liaise with Housekeeper Supervisor on any housekeeping and laundry concerns 

    Emergency and deaths 

    • Follow policy in the case of panic button alerts
    • Act according to the patient’s living will in case of emergency or resuscitation 
    • Phone emergency services immediately for village emergencies 
    • Phone Doctor of resident in case of emergency
    • Phone family in the case of death to inform them in a calm and dignified manner
    • In the case of a death, phone the undertaker
    • Liaise with the family regarding the resident’s belongings and any other arrangements, including a memorial at the HCC (if applicable) 

    Stock management 

    • Manage the overnight stock cupboard, ensure all used stock is charged to the resident account
    • Overnight cupboard - assist the HCA to count stock daily on the stock sheet 
    • Daily check of the emergency trolley, ensure it is securely locked and only to be used during a life-threatening situation

    Catering

    • Check trays and diet list and approve
    • Ensure that the Food Ambassador performs duties according to the job description
    • Confirm meal sheets, cancellations and new admissions are correctly added 
    • Handle all food-related complaints and refer to the Food Services Manager
    • Control cancellations 

    Requirements

    • Qualifications - SANC registered as a Registered Nurse. Up to date BLS.
    • Experience and Knowledge - Dementia care, frail care, relevant experience of taking charge of a shift, sub-acute, palliative care, rehab, strokes, orthopedic, care for patients with IV therapy.
    • Skills - Strong interpersonal skills, professional communication, ability to work under pressure, managerial skills, making sound decisions, proactive, organisational skills, computer literate, professional, focused, fluent in English.

    Assistant Carer Supervisor - Noordhoek

    The services of an experienced Assistant Carer Supervisor (Day shift) is required for our facility Noordhoek Manor, located just over Ou Kaapse Weg. (Preference will be given to candidates who reside within the surrounding areas close to the facility) The successful incumbent will ensure that the Carers on shift work according to the approved care plan by directly providing practical, physical, social and emotional care for residents at the healthcare center.

    Duties include but is not limited to the following:

    The Assistant Carer Supervisor will ensure that the residents receive the highest standard of care, assist the Carer Supervisor in supporting and guiding the carer team in their day-to-day performance of their jobs. You will also contribute to fostering positive relationships between staff and management and act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the Carer Supervisor or as operationally required.

    QUALITY CONTROL

    • Participate in the handover process to/from the opposite shift and communicating all observations regarding residents
    • Assist the Carer Supervisor with staff allocation, providing input as required
    • Completion of the Emergency list for Fire & Evacuation Safety in the absence of the Carer Supervisor and reporting all maintenance issues immediately
    • Complete admission and discharge checklists
    • Assists the carer team with day to duties and ensuring the team adheres to infection control measures
    • Provide on the job training and demonstrating corrective measures 
    • Ensuring at that end of each shift that all carer equipment is clean and neatly stored in designated areas

    ADMINISTRATION AND REPORTING

    • Ensure charting times correlate to when tasks are done and that all documentation is complete
    • Ensure all concerns regarding patients are reported to the Shift Leader and documented in the ECP progress notes
       

    PATIENT CARE (ACCORDING TO CARE PLAN)

    • Ensure all activities as per care plan is done and charted 
    • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment is created for all residents and that the care plan is up to date with the needs of the resident
    • Ensure appropriate activities are being carried out in different areas and that caregivers are actively involved

    COMPANY POLICIES  AND PROCEDURES

    • Ensuring compliance, understanding and adherence to company policies and procedures

     INFECTION CONTROL

    • Ensure infection control policies and procedures are  followed and adhered to
    • Ensure good personal hygiene maintained for all Carers
    • Adherence to the Uniform policy

    HEALTH AND SAFETY

    • Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to in terms of health and safety
    • Ensure all contraventions reported to the Shift Leader before the end of shift

    • Allocate carers to assist with OT daily sessions

    SUPERVISION

    • Responsible to act in the absence of the Carer Supervisor
    • Take on full scope of duties allocated by the Carer Supervisor

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education and qualifications:

    • Acknowledged Carer Training from a reputable organization
    • SETA accreditation will be an advantage
    • Grade 10 - 12
    • Minimum 2 years experience working as a carer
    • Previous supervisory experience

    • Report all duties and any concerns to the Shift Leader

    Buyer Assistant - Southern Suburbs

The Buyer will be tasked with performing all administration functions within the procurement department as well as negotiating the best prices for material, labour and subcontractors at our construction sites across our Claremont office, our 6 luxury retirement and healthcare facilities in the Western Cape. 

     The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.

     The Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous.

     Requirements: 

    Duties will include, but are not limited to:

    • Build relationships with suppliers 
    • Assist the Senior Buyer to scrutinise costs
    • Evaluating and pricing of variations
    • Processing construction orders as per the order sheet received from Quantity Surveyor
