    Work Description

    • Assists with the accurate data processing of paper records into an electronic format that facilitates data review and analysis

    Technical Work Responsibilities

    • Generate study files and required study documentation
    • Record all paper forms received
    • Reviews paper forms for completeness, accuracy and consistency
    • Capturing the data accurately from paper forms into a project specific database according to Aurum specific guidelines

    Laboratory Technologist - Tembisa

    Work Description

    • The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for maintaining Laboratory Systems and conducting Laboratory Procedures for Research Studies.  The incumbent will regularly perform work at a higher level of expertise in carrying out difficult, advanced or complex testing and is required to train other Technical/Professional Personnel and/or Function.

    Job Function

    • Liaise with stakeholders including sponsors, external suppliers, and programme managers.
    • Receive labelled and captured samples on LIMS.
    • Oversee and monitor equipment calibration and maintenance
    • Record keeping and filling in compliance with studies specific requirement and GCLP.
    • Oversee and implement safe working conditions and staff training in laboratory safety.
    • Oversee laboratory reagent ordering and stock control.
    • Implement study specific protocols and SOPs according to study specific laboratory manuals.
    • Compile laboratory reports and study specific reports as needed by the lab manager.
    • Troubleshooting, managing and/or preventing any lab-related problems or issues that arise and ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken as required.
    • Assist in developing and managing a lab quality management plan in order to ensure the laboratory is constantly able to provide a high-quality, cost-effective service and correct results.  This includes implementation of internal QC processes and participation in external quality assurance (EQA) activities
    • Conduct independent research under the supervision of Scientists.
    • Promote harmony, teamwork and sharing of information via team meetings.
    • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management.
    • Take ownership for driving own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as conferences, policy setting workshops etc.

    Requirements

     Education

    • National Diploma in Biomedical Technology (NQF level 5) or Bachelor of Health Sciences in Medical Laboratory Science qualification at NQF level 8
    • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory scientist

    Advantageous

    • Knowledge of principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) and International Air Transport Association (IATA)
    • Knowledge of Laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar laboratory information system.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience, with 2 years in clinical research trials in TB, HIV and SARS  - COV-2

    Requirements

    • Working knowledge of lab accreditation and experience working with external auditors or monitors.
    • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good administration skills including report writing, work independently within minimal supervision.

    Bookkeeper - Parktown

    Technical Work Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the general accounting function including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the senior accountant in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

    Professional Nurse - Kimberley

    Work Description

    • The Quality Nurses is responsible for providing on-site and hands on gaps analysis, QI coaching to TB focal staff and facility staff, in depth analysis of TB Indicators as well as assist in the co-ordination and management of all QI Projects within a District. They will have a dual function in providing direct service delivery within the TB program at hospital level to update data recording systems and linkage to care activities as specified by Quality Improvement Advisor and Program Manager for project.

    Technical Work Responsibilities

    • Liaise with Internal and External Customers/Stakeholders
    • Coordination and management of all QI Projects within a District
    • QI Site visit scheduling, coordination, and oversight
    • Generate innovative QI ideas for Mentors and Facilities
    • Collecting DHIS Data at a Sub-district level
    • QI record keeping
    • Ensure the management of TB patients efficiently according to DoH guidelines.
    • Improve quality standards for recording, reporting of TB data in the hospital.
    • Ensure patients who are diagnosed with TB in the hospital are registered.
    • Coordinate the down referral of patients diagnosed in the hospital and follow up to confirm that they reached the clinic and close contacts are traced.
    • Human capital management through supervision and monitor capturing of TB data in the information system by the data capturer.
    • Validate and strengthen collated TB data in the TB identification register for the hospital for reporting.
    • Coordinate TB activities in the hospital, in close collaboration with hospital management.
    • Compile quarterly reports for SR program manager and district TB/HAST Manager
    • Coordinate the Finding cases Actively, separating safely and treating effectively (FAST) strategy and QI activities in the hospital.
    • Work closely with information officers in the hospital.
    • Support in-hospital TB and HIV care and Infection prevention and control activities
    • Promote the provision of treatment for latent TB infection (LTBI) in eligible patients.
    • Map their feeder clinics and create and maintain a data base.
    • Participate in district quarterly TB and data review meetings.
    • Provide and Coordinate TB specific training through coaching and mentoring based on the need.

    Requirements

    Education

    • Registered with SANC Diploma in Nursing or bachelor’s degree (B. Cur).

    Experience

    • At least one years’ experience in improvement methodology or process engineering, LEAN or Six Sigma
    • At least three years’ experience working with TB/HIV program within public health care sector.

    Requirements

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse
    • Experience on working on TB data systems used in public health care sector eg., TIER.net, EDR.web
    • SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
    • Sound knowledge on TB/HIV data tools and systems
    • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office packages
    • Valid driver’s license
