    Area Manager – Eastern Region

    Overview    

    • To ensure effective and smooth operations within a specific geographical area. Coordinating activities, managing resources, and optimising processes to achieve organisational goals. Ultimately, the Area Manager is instrumental in ensuring that the company's operations run efficiently and contribute to the organisation’s overall success.

    Qualifications

    Operations Foreman (Mogalakwena)

    Overview    

    • To plan and organise resources in line with all the statutory, legal and BME SHERQ requirements.
    • To supervise the performance of employees, manage stocks, manage costs, and manage quality of products and of service delivery.

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12 (with Mathematics)
    • Blasting Ticket (mandatory)
    • Certificate in Blasting Technology
    • Competent A Certificate – MQA

    Experience    

    •  5 years’ demonstrated experience as Truck Operator or Blaster (including surface mining, blasting, blast reports, seismograph 
    • 3 years’ demonstrated experience in supervising employees 
    • 3 years’ demonstrated experience in responsibility for managing costs

    Duties    

    • Works closely with internal and external customers in order to assess needs and plan operations accordingly.
    • Plans and organises the availability to resources, in order to meet customer’s requests.
    • Ensures that the assets of the company are protected from theft and damage.
    • Responsible for the operation rollers, bending press and Guillotine.
    • Organises, schedules and coordinates building off explosives truck tanks in order to facilitate the smooth, timeous flow of deliveries.
    • Administers stocks and continuous stock availability by ensuring that paperwork such as store stock are up to date and reconciled.
    • Ensures that all administration, documents, storage of information are kept according to BME standards.
    • Provides inputs into the annual budgeting process in line with the objectives of the department.
    • Identifies cost saving initiatives while balancing customer requirements.
    • Ensures that the necessary incident investigations take place.
    • Ensures that required staff training is up to date.
    • Ensures that the impact of production processes on environment are understood by staff and appropriately monitored.

    • Plans daily/ weekly/ monthly scheduling of work/shift allocations.

    Overview    

    • To operate the entire process of the plant through the shift team and or DCS. All activities, roles and responsibilities are aligned to the world class (manufacturing) philosophy, principles and practices. 

    Qualifications

    • NQF 6 
    • National Diploma in Chemical Engineering (Will be an advantage)

    Experience    

    • 2 - 5 years’ experience in Chemical industry
    • Chemical industry with process control experience (Will be an advantage) 

    Duties    
    To ensure Safety adherence on shift:

    Process System Controller - Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha

    Overview    

    • The Incumbent in this position has primary responsibility for the accuracy of stock on the Site. They must make sure that all transactions relating to stock are accurately captured so that the stock as per the ERP system accurately reflects the stock on the floor always. They must also work safely in a chemical environment. Follow and ensure site rules are complied with.

    Qualifications    

    • Matric
    • Related tertiary qualification would be advantageous

    Experience    

    • 2 to 4 years’ experience maintaining and investigating stock
    • 3 years or more in a similar position Systems orientated

    Duties    

    • Cost-effective warehousing of stock Support warehousing objectives and quality standards for team and deliver there on Item Site Location Accuracy of stock better than 95% at cycle counts and Stock Counts when comparing actual to ERP stock figures.
    • To achieve this weekly cycle count plans and execution to be adhered to. Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system All Stock Put away in 2 Working days.
    • Reporting on key Stock variances to Warehouse leadership daily Specification of Development Opportunities for the ERP System to add new functionality Prevented/mitigated warehousing and delivery risk Enable safe and conducive work environments by e.g. managing compliance to group and Protea policies, objectives and objective changes, Codes of Practice e.g. HSE, etc.
    • Pre-empt potential obstacles to optimal performance and find solutions to address potential non-performance, interrupted performance Enforcing FEFO principle on stock on floor
    • Assist the team in continuous improvements to prevent/minimize any interruption or stock loss
    • Ensuring the Warehouse meets the HSE standards set out and required by Protea Chemicals to protects its People and assets
    • Customer satisfaction: Support the site in embedding customer service standards and to drive a focused culture of continuous customer improvements
