    Senior Manager - Access Network Operations Technology Information

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    STRATEGIC INPUT

    • Develop strategic plans for improvement of network availability.  These plans would include network availability breakdown analysis, improvement planning and investment analysis as part of improvement plan. 
    • Investigate technology improvements in support of strategic output to gain efficiency and predictability of OPEX costs. 
    • Investigate technology developments, feasibility and availability of products, infrastructure and tools to increase network efficiency and availability.
    • Review and develop network performance improvements plans.
    • Develop access operations annual strategic delivery strategy by ensuring all people, processes and tool are available and suitable for strategic delivery.
    • Measures of success include the delivery of vendor performance and fulfilment of service level agreements, KPIs, improved network quality and performance including the delivery of standard processes and procedures for all vendor engagements, integrated blueprints for all tool sets and, standardised service catalogues

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Ensure the governance and the fulfilment of managed service deliverables across South Africa by all vendors on a national level.
    • Ensure all required maintenance activities are tracked and performed as per Service Level Agreements and KPIs on a national level including: Fault, Configuration, Change, Problem Management, Preventive Maintenance, PaaS etc.
    • Continually monitor and manage all managed services vendors contracts and critical network related issues.  Facilitate and directly drive critical issue resolution and eliminate roadblocks with respect to Network Operations.  Serve as the second escalation point, at MTN South Africa, for all critical issues and initiatives.
    • Provide leadership and guidance into the development and distribution of standardised procedures, tools, processes for MTN South Africa regions. 
    • Continuously manage and oversee process and tools performance and development and incorporate process and tools improvement initiatives within governed and agreed upon timeframes. 
    • Support analysing consistent network service problems and themes and provide suggestions for improvement initiatives within Network operations. 
    • Provide Managed network service assistance consistently to internal MTN stakeholders and ensure that network service levels relation to operational assistance are met at the required quality and within the proposed timelines. 
    • Assure audits, BCP and DRP of Network managed services in accordance with set Network standards on National and Regional Levels.
    • Manage the transition and assure the successful network hand over for all new managed service Contracts in South Africa.
    • Provides professional direction and technical support to subordinates, evaluates their performance and caries out necessary counselling to insure acceptable level of work productivity and regions performance improvement.
    • Monitor, control and report all Managed services projects related costs on national level and conduct related department Budget development
    • Govern vendors in terms of adherence to Service Level Agreements, KPIs and contractual service deliverables and internal agreed targets.
    • Continued improved network quality and performance across all regions.
    • Project management of strategic Access Network related projects
    • The successful delivery of standard processes and procedures across all regions and integrated blueprints for all tool sets.
    • The successful managed service transition management and network handover.
    • Cost control, monitoring and reporting.
    • Staff skills development, enhance team spirit and motivation and team culture development.
    • Communicate actively and effectively resolving any potential team conflicts that may arise

    Project Delivery

    • Develop and drive the execution of agreed projects 
    • Drive the implementation, tracking, monitoring and compliance of Projects
    • Contract management in line with Procurement Policies
    • Co-ordinate project reporting
    • Ensure effective implementation of the integrated project management model 
    • Risk management

    Business Analysis

    • Perform Business Analysis MTN SA Business Analysis in line with the methodology and guidelines
    • Identify ways to fine tune policies, processes and systems in line with changing work practices
    • Determine, document, and review requirements for projects within the scope of the value stream or impacting processes and systems 
    • Design, analyse and document workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness
    • Identify Business Improvement and Optimisation opportunities that will result in improvement of process performance 
    • Ensure that benchmarking is conducted with other companies and organizations within and outside the industry. 
    • Construct business cases for initiations proposed by the business. Research and consider best practice, local conditions, trends, as well as competitor activity
    • Identify and implement innovative ways to use minimum resources to achieve maximum output
    • Provide business analysis input and / or solutions to business areas where services span BU’s
    • Continuously look at way to improve the process efficiency where alternative business approaches could result in Network performance increase or cost efficiencies
    • Understand the business domains processes and how these are translated into systems
    • Ensure there is alignment between the business process and the proposed Network solution

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education:

    • Minimum of 4 years tertiary degree (Information Technology or Engineering)
    • Fluent in English and language of country preferable

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 8 years’ Network Assurance experience.
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous
    • Experience working in a large organization

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Graduate: Chenosis  will be accountable for the following Key Performance Areas:

    • Conduct research on technology trends.
    • Facilitate ad hoc meetings with relevant stakeholders as deemed necessary 
    • Type reports according to required formats
    • Prepare presentations using information received
    • Provide status / progress reports as required
    • Drive improvement across the business to achieve the optimal service quality deliverables 
    • Research of content for presentations, creation and editing of presentations, presentation layout and quality assurance in alignment with MTNs corporate communication standards
    • Editing of media (videos, audio) to reduce length while capturing the essence of the presentations / meetings
    • Assist in the collation of information for reporting dashboards on various performance metrics internally to Senior Management as well as cross functional teams and externally to vendors; following up with the relevant parties to ensure information provided on time
    • Assisting in curation of content in knowledge bases (intranet), understanding of the content, assisting staff in finding documents and knowledge, ability to answer frequently asked questions
    • Assist in delivering the global product portfolio and roadmap 
    • Assist in defining Go-to-market activities focusing on innovation and revenue streams, working hand in hand with product managers across Chenosis MTN OPCO’s
    • Assist in management / tracking of overall product lifecycle
    • Interface with OpCo presales and design in support of large or strategic opportunities
    • Assist in producing documentation of service: marketing manuals, annexes to contracts (Service Description, Manual of Operations, Pricing, Terms of Service, SLA’s), training documentation and business presentations
    • Define and update weekly governance updates for installed base & new product development across MTN Group 
    • Research possible future requirements of customers in product roadmap using market insights and research.
    • Continuously identify key gaps to grow portfolio/s based on market priorities, multinational accounts, across OpCo connectivity and Enterprise Sales needs 
    • Prioritize development activity on the network based on insights from corporate tenders across the group. as well as customer & market insights. 
    • Assist in defining & establishing frameworks & methodologies for Chenosis products team 
    • Possess the authority, presence and integrity to command respect from colleagues and from external contacts
    • Planning and organizing as required 
    • Foster Team and independent work within Chenosis 
    • Foster cross functional collaboration between IT, products, technology, Sales and marketing

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • Minimum 4 Year Academic Degree in BSc. Computer Science/Software engineering or Programming/Electronic and Electrical Engineering and BTech.
    • Post-Graduate will be advantageous

    Experience:

    • Graduate work experience or internships is a plus. 
    • Have a good understanding of embedded software and pro.
