REQUIREMENTS

• An admissions clerk works at the front desk of a hospital and provides a professional and efficient admission, reception and payment service to patients and the public to ensure no delays in following clinical processes.  As an admissions clerk you welcome and direct patients and visitors to requested areas and assist with the completion of admission documentation and authorisation, where required.  You will answer phone calls, handle queries, and provide information as requested.

CRITICAL OUTPUTS

• Ensure the efficient functioning of the reception, admission and cashier areas.
• Answer all phone calls and assist as required.
• Welcome and direct patients and visitors to requested areas.
• Assist with the completion of admission documentation
• Capture admission information in time and correct
• Ensure that all patients admitted have the required authorisation and/ or made the required payments prior to admission
• Ensure accuracy in taking and allocating of payments
• Assist at other reception arrears as required.

 REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12
• At least 2 years administration experience in a medical facility
• Understanding of medical schemes and admission processes required
• Must be able to use Microsoft Office and have good typing skills.

• The purpose of the position is to perform all nursing duties in accordance to the scope of practice as prescribed by the South African Nursing Council, while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.

CRITICAL OUTPUTS

• Conduct pre-operative assessments to ensure that the patient is fully informed about the risks and benefits, and that they are in optimal health for the surgery.
• Prepare all the necessary instruments and equipment for the procedure.
• Work alongside the surgeon, providing instruments, needles, swabs and other materials as required, and be able to anticipate their requirements.
• Have a role in the promotion of health and safety and be responsible for ensuring that surgical instruments, equipment and swabs are all accounted for throughout the surgical procedure.
• Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performed.
• Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies.
• Administer post-op medication as per prescription
• Actively maintain stock management processes.
• Ensure that the disposal of Medical waste, human tissue and medicine is in accordance to OHS Regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12
• 2-3 years experience as a Scrub Nurse
• 2-3 years experience in Recovery
• SANC Registration as Registered Nurse
• Post basic qualification in Operating Theatre Technique advantageous
• Computer proficiency (MS Office) advantageous

• Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor.

• Ensure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitized.
• Change bandages and dress surgical wound.
• Administer post-op medication as per prescription.
• Assist in other theatre and ward capacities as required.

• Diploma / Degree as a Registered Nurse
• Computer proficiency (MS Office) advantageous
• SANC Registration as Registered Nurse
• Recovery or ICU experience essential
