    Field Maintenance Technician - Modderfontein

    Job Description    

    • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks on a variety of equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
    • Diagnosing issues, repairing or replacing faulty components, conducting tests, and calibrating equipment to ensure proper functionality
    • Investigate equipment malfunctions and system failures, employing systematic approaches to diagnose and resolve problems efficiently. Utilize technical knowledge, diagnostic tools, and manuals to identify root causes and implement appropriate corrective actions
    • Respond to service requests from customers in a timely manner and travel to customer sites to perform maintenance and repair activities
    • Communicate effectively with customers to understand their concerns, provide technical advice, and ensure their satisfaction with the service provided
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, service reports, and equipment documentation
    • Document equipment modifications, upgrades, and repairs, and provide detailed reports to management or customers as required
    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance activities, ensuring personal safety and the safety of others
    • Identify potential hazards and take appropriate precautions to minimize risks. Stay updated with safety regulations and procedures

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric and National Diploma or Advanced Certificate – Engineering/Technical
    • Must have a minimum of N4 qualification with Industrial Electronics and Industrial Instrumentation and Electrical Technology is a pre-requisite. Preferably a Millwright
    • Must be Trade-Tested.
    • Water treatment and related equipment experience (Maintenance Experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Pump equipment) > 3 to 5 years
    • Related experience will be advantageous. (Mining & Water treatment)
    • Computer literacy in PLC will be an advantage.
    • Must have working knowledge of the OHS Act 85 of 1993.
    • Must have a valid SA driver’s license.

    Technical Qualifications Officer - Modderfontein

    Job Description    

    • Provides DetNet initiating systems testing and qualifications services.
    • Acts as Far and Near range master during experiments, trials and qualifications.
    • Act as independent Quality function observer during engineering “characterization” trials and marketing field trials.
    • Write qualification specifications, methods and reports.
    • Works under AECI Mining Explosives parameters for safety and operations in the AECI Mining danger areas. Consults and works closely/under the direction of DetNet’s and AECI Mining Technical custodians.
    • Liaise with external Testing Houses and bodies such as Naschem, AECI Mining, Gerotek, Explo Labs and Houwteq for qualification of products/systems according to relevant international standards.
    • Investigate development product failures during qualification phases.
    • Design and conduct experiments to prove or disprove hypotheses of design failures.
    • Dissect and analyse failure samples of all development products.
    • Provide accurate and informed feedback to product designers and developers to ensure continuous improvement in design
    • Partake in relevant product/system Risk Assessments as well as process HAZOP studies for existing and new products and processes.
    • Qualification tests on product packaging.
    • Assist in product, process and system audits where requested.
    • High level of computer literacy - Proficiencies in MS Office products; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential.
    • Excellent technical report writing skill is essential.
    • Conversant with ISO systems and Local and International Standards for approval of electronic initiating systems (detonators and associated control equipment).
    • Must have the ability to function both independently as well as in a matrix organization to interface with design teams, manufacturing, supply chain management, program management personnel and quality section personnel.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Diploma in Mechanical / Electronic Engineering is desirable.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in an explosives manufacturing/testing environment.
    • Laboratory test setup and testing experience is an advantage.
    • Explosives Engineering Certification (Surface and Underground) is an advantage.

    Electronic Field Technician - Modderfontein

    Job Description    

    • Provide support for advanced types of blasts.
    • Provide advice to clients, internal personnel or end users on the use of the electronic initiating systems.
    • Conduct bad blast investigations and provide recommendations based on findings.
    • Upgrade hardware and software at client sites.
    • Assist the lab to identify any product issues and conduct risk assessment s when new hardware or software is being piloted and conduct field trials at customer’s sites.
    • On completion of the lab qualification, undergo training as part of the field testing.
    • Provide training on electronic initiating systems.
    • Customer liaison regarding electronic initiating systems.
    • Comply with governance & compliance policies and procedures.
    • Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards.
    • Active input with R&D involving the evolution of the product.
    • The individual will be required to work abroad for a minimum of three weeks at a time to provide training and product support.

    Qualifications & Experience
