    Junior Digital Twin Engineer - 24983

    Responsibilities
    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Implementing and maintaining a Digital Twin on Innovation Africa @UP and related campuses/projects;
    • Integrating new technologies such as IOT devices and communications technologies, low-cost sensor platforms, alternative manufacturing technologies such as additive printing (3D printing), programming for effective and efficient data analytics, and integration of related data systems;
    • Supporting and training students and staff working in the Digital Twin environment and related projects;
    • Developing sensors and sensor systems;
    • Developing and managing data analytics networks;
    • Manufacturing & maintaining sensors & sensor networks;
    • Maintaining and upgrading testing instrumentation.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B. Eng. Degree with six months experience; OR B Degree in Information Technology; OR Relevant B. Tech degree with one-year experience;
    • Experience in the field of sensors and electronics in a laboratory / field environment;
    • Basic data analytics using commercially available software packages (MS Office) or programming languages (R, Python);
    • Integration of new hardware and software platforms and information technology infrastructure within a research environment;
    • Valid Driver’s licence.

    • Development and programming of sensors and sensor networks in an IOT / Arduino / Raspberry Pi and related environment;
    • Programming experience, preferably Python / C / C++;
    • Experience with sensors and microcontrollers such as Arduinos and Raspberry Pi. Basic IOT sensor platform development, deployment and maintenance of devices;
    • Exposure to additive manufacturing technologies, especially 3D printers and associated software applications;
    • 2D/3D CAD software and technical drawing experience;
    • Maintenance and upgrading of computer hardware and basic network administration;
    • Commercial IOT experience and / or integration (SigFox, LORA, Wi-Fi).

    Lecturer - Department of Information Science - 24982

    Responsibilities
    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Teaching at various undergraduate and honours levels as determined by the Head of Department, with expertise in one or more of the following: publishing studies, information or editorial design; languages and communication.
    • Supervision of final year projects;
    • Supervision of postgraduate students at honours level and at least co-supervision of master’s level students;
    • Conducting both independent and collaborative research, publishing research articles in accredited journals, and presenting at applicable conferences;
    • Participating in the department’s strategic initiatives regarding teaching, research and community engagement;
    • Academic administration and other duties as determined by the Head of Department.

    Minimum Requirements
    LECTURER

    • A master’s degree in Publishing Studies or a very closely related field;
    • Appropriate working experience either in academia or industry;
    • At least registration for a doctoral degree.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES) for both levels:

    • Good, appropriate language and communication skills;

    • Preference will be given to candidates with specialisation in digital publishing and with the ability to teach in more than one field of specialisation;

    • Some publications/conference papers in peer reviewed journals/conference proceedings will be an added advantage – specifically international journals and conference proceedings, and a balance between sole and collaborative authorship;
    • Industry experience within the field of Publishing and the preferred areas of specialisation;
    • Being a team player in the co-ordination of academic administration-related activities.

    Project Administrator - 24978

    Responsibilities

    • To provide administrative support to the Deans Office, specifically for the Joint-Community Project (JCP) Office, Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) and the Curriculum Development Committee coordinators and chair.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Relevant National 3 year Diploma plus 2 years’ experience;

    OR

    • Grade 12 plus 4 years’ experience;
    • Relevant experience in office administration, secretarial duties and student engagement;
    • Web design and project management;
    • Relevant experience within a tertiary or academic environment;
    • Experience working ERP systems.

    Required Competencies (skills, Knowledge And Behavioural Attributes)
    Knowledge :

    • Knowledge and experience in the preparation of report and accurate budgetary control;

    • Skills in the use of MS Office software, YouTube and Google Platforms (Google Doc, Sheet, Forms, ect.);
    • Administrative Skills;
    • Ability to multi-task and liaise with a variety of internal and external people both national and international;
    • Time Management;
    • Ability to work with numbers.
