MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To deliver safe, quality nursing care according to the Scope of Practice

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team
• Identify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions
• Participate in creating a learning environment that builds staff competence
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:  Enrolled Nurse Certificate

DESIRED EDUCATION: For specialised wards, CPD courses in specific speciality area 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:  1 year post qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Basic life support trained
• Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
• Pharmacology
• Scientific nursing principles and process
• Patient assessment skills
• Nursing processes and procedures
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Relevant nursing legislation
• Nursing care plan skills
• Risk identification

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Provides services for the overall functioning of the Reception Area, receiving internal and external stakeholders at Corporate Office Main Reception in a professional, courteous and efficient manner

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Provide a professional reception service
• Perform general office administration
• Control security and screening at the front desk

Required Education

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

DESIRED EDUCATION: Qualification in Office Administration or similar

Required Experience

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years’ experience in a receptionist role

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: None

Required Job Skills And Knowledge

• Professional style of communication, applicable to both external and internal clients
• Telephonic and email etiquette
• Travel arrangements
• Written communication (i.e. memo’s, letters, emails, minutes)
• Computer software packages (MS Word, i.e. create templates, merging of information, etc.; Excel, i.e. calculation of rental increases)
• General office administration; for example filing receiving of hand delivered documents at Reception

To assist with the provision of cooked menus for patients, staff, surgeons and partners and maintaining a hygienic kitchen in which food is prepared to reduce risk to all stakeholders

• Assist with the preparation of food
• Perform general kitchen duties
• Assist with food distribution
• Assist with stock control

Required Education

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Grade 12

DESIRED EDUCATION: Basic Food Handling Certificate

Required Experience

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 6 months experience working in the food services industry

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Hospital or healthcare kitchen environment
