    Senior Technologist: NRL Genetics

    Purpose of Position:

    • To process specimens according to set criteria and standards. Assist with the development of new procedures using existing and new technologies in collaboration with the principal technologist and senior management.

    Requirements:

    • HPCSA registration as a Medical Technologist in Cytogenetics (Required), National Diploma in Medical Technology / Bachelor of Health Sciences in Medical Laboratory Sciences. (Required)

    Required Experience:

    • >3 years general working experience within a cytogenetics laboratory environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist with Materials Management related tasks in order to ensure effective control over stock and to ensure sufficient stock levels at all times., Assist with the development, implementation and quality assurance of new assays to ensure best practices are upheld.
    • Assist with the management of the accreditation of the laboratory to ensure high quality standards are maintained.
    • Assist with the training of intern scientists / technologists to ensure competence.
    • Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath.
    • Perform accreditation and quality control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld.
    • Perform duties and responsibilities of a technical signatory as defined by the applicable Accreditation requirements.
    • Process and analyse specimens in order to ensure efficient delivery of results.

    Phlebotomy Technician, Enrolled Nurse, Registered Nurse

    Purpose of Position:

    • To provide quality customer service to consumers within the legal-ethical framework of the nursing profession.

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma: Nursing, SANC Registration in Relevant Register, Valid South African drivers licence (Code EB)

    Required Experience:

    • Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: MS Excel, Knowledge: MS Word, Knowledge: National Health Act, Knowledge: Nursing Council Scope of Practice, Phlebotomy experience in a laboratory environment

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain good client relations in order to promote the image of Ampath, Manage money/cash flow of depot to facilitate collection of payments for phlebotomy services rendered, Perform administrative tasks to ensure correct recording and processing of information, Perform nursing procedures in order to ensure sufficient delivery of nursing services., Perform safety and quality control tasks to ensure that relevant standards are upheld.
