    Specialist Governance & Technical Stewardship

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    Purpose of role is to deliver outstanding C&I engineering outcomes, including G&TS, asset management and the provision of C&I engineering technical support to Operations in accordance with relevant processes, standards and performance targets for HSEC and costs.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have N6 or National diploma in Electronics together a minimum of 10 years working experience in a heavy industry and/or mining;
    • Well-practiced and mature understanding in the key elements of governance and technical stewardship, standards and change control in Engineering function is essential;
    • Project Management experience in the delivery of small to medium sized projects is essential;
    • Computer literacy in MS Suite is essential;
    • Valid drivers license is essential.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Comply with and provide input to regional G&TS framework and procedures to ensure C&I deliver business outcomes;
    • Define, document and maintain the engineering design blueprint for TC&I including the approval and governance of the associated change process;
    • Governance of G&TS  processes and systems to manage performance risk, material risk and license to operate risk;
    • Own agreed material risk critical controls and perform risk control execution and verification tasks for identified Engineering controls;
    • Determine the budgetary implications for the development of operating budgets and business cases for capital;
    • Own and implement the C&I integrity process and provide renewal and upgrade requirements and create a portfolio of modifications and small projects;
    • Comply and provide input to standards and the framework for document management across HMM.

    Specialist ERP (Finance)

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    The role of Specialist ERP (Finance) is one of several that act as the end-to-end Functional and Technical custodian of the applicable ERP product suite.  With a customer success centric mindset, the Specialist ERP (Finance) will oversee and manage all execution within the platform for their domain of accountability.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a degree or equal relevant qualification (BTech, Degree etc) and Relevant certification (SAP FI Certification);
    • Demonstrated experience in forming and maintaining FI/CO ERP practices, framework and processes;
    • Knowledgeable around ERP FI/CO with proven experience (more than 5 years);
    • Deep technical skills and knowledge of FI/CO ERP practices and lifecycle (more than  5 years  of  experience);
    • Ability to strike a balance between customer needs and technical capability;
    • A curious problem solver with the ability to identify signals and patterns, bringing in third party problem solving capabilities when needed;
    • Strong experience of working alongside vendors.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    Strategy and Planning:

    • Contribute to the development of the ERP Platform FI/CO Roadmap and Technology Plans;
    • Assist and contribute to the ERP Platform plans including maintenance and improvement;
    • Assist with identifying areas of cost and productivity improvement and contribute ideas to the planning process;

    Platform Management:

    • Assist with the establishment and governance of the ERP Platform practices and processes in collaboration with suppliers and the broader Platform Teams;
    • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of ERP FI services and solutions to the Functions and Operations and take responsibility for the support of all applicable ERP activities;
    • Ensure interactions for both producers and consumers of ERP FI/CO services are clearly articulated and adhered to;
    • Ensure service level requirements of the ERP Platform are clearly articulated and managed;
    • Manage and monitor ERP FI/CO activities including incidents, change requests and escalations;
    • Ensure ongoing feedback loops with the customers based in the Functions and at site in the Operations in relation to stakeholder requirements, expectations and satisfaction;
    • Monitor the performance of the Service Management Platform and work with the suppliers to identify and close gaps / issues;
    • Maintain a strong awareness of business processes that the ERP FI Platform supports and seek to continuously collaborate with Business representatives improve the processes while minimising disruption;
    • Be a key contact for Finance and Treasury ERP activities and effectively manage relationships with the Function and Operation teams;
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of the FI/CO ERP capabilities.

    Artisan Rigger - Richards Bay

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the execution of Maintenance rigging within a smelter environment. Work is undertaken under plant shut conditions as well as normal plant maintenance activities including breakdowns. The role also includes maintaining and servicing plant lifting tackle and equipment.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have an N3 Technical Certificate with a recognized Rigger trade test and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance as a qualified Rigger;
    • 5 years and more experience in lifting tackle maintenance and repairing is essential;
    • Valid Code B (08) Driver’s license is essential;
    • Certification as an LMI is advantageous;
    • Experience in heavy industrial or plant environment will be advantageous.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensure compliance to the SAP process for work execution and capture related transactional data into the SAP system;
    • Execute work orders as per schedule and relevant work instructions associated with the work orders;
    • Maintain the design standard and ensure change management process is adhered to;
    • Provide input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of issues affecting equipment reliability;
    • Initiate updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment as per the SAP process;
    • Ensure adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the planning process;
    • Ensure returns of unused or repairable materials are processed accurately;
    • Validate quality of work performed by 3rd parties and the related service entry sheets;
    • Review and request updates to Work Management and other Master Data as required (e.g. Task List and Work Instructions).

    Specialist Business Improvement - Richards Bay

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    This is a high-energy position that requires a passion for Continuous Improvement and the ability to drive change. Utilises the appropriate Lean, Six Sigma and Change Management methodologies to define, drive and deliver the operational excellence strategy. Additionally, this position is responsible for mentoring Green Belts/Coaching of Business Leaders.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree in Industrial Engineering/ Engineering/ Science/ Technology;
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial environment;
    • Green Belt Certification is desirable;
    • Black Belt Certification will be advantageous;
    • A Project management qualification is advantageous;
    • Microsoft Office Suit Skills is essential (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio);
    • SAP experience will be advantageous.

    • Manage a portfolio of improvement projects, including tracking of benefits, auditing of implemented projects to ensure that process improvements as sustained, and benefits are realized;
    • Ensure all continuous improvements projects are conducted to the highest of standards in a safe, quality-focused, and effective manner;
    • Provides expert coaching and mentoring in Lean Six Sigma tool and techniques to Green Belts and Department Team Leaders.

    Purpose of role is to deliver TMM statutory, design, specification, and performance and asset management governance and technical support to Operations and projects in accordance with relevant processes, standards, and performance targets.

    • Serious contenders will have N6 or National diploma in Mechanical Engineering together a minimum of 5 years working experience in a heavy industry and/or mining;
    • GCC Mines & Works will be advantageous;
    • Well-practiced and mature understanding in the key elements of governance and technical stewardship, standards and change control in Engineering function is essential;
    • Experience in the design, manufacturing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of TMM for mining is essential;
    • Good understanding of the relevant statutory requirements and international standards governing the safe operation of TMM is essential;
    • Valid drivers license is essential.

    • Providing TMM engineering governance and leadership to site;

    Superintendent Mine Planning - Hotazel

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    The purpose of the role is to lead a multi-discipline team of Mine Planning, Mine Scheduling and drill and Blast Designs to maximize ore extraction and meet customer requirements.   

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree / National Diploma in Mining Engineering and a minimum of 5 years’ Mine Planning experience in surface mines of which 2 years at least in a supervisory position;
    • Mine Manager Certificate of Competence is an added advantage;
    • ECSA registration as professional engineer is an added advantage;
    • Knowledge in Deswik CAD, IS and LHS software, or other opencast planning software experience, is essential;
    • Knowledge of 1SAP is essential;
    • Valid Code 08/EB driver’s license is essential.

    Lead Health & Safety - Hotazel Manganese Mines

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    This role is responsible to provide assistance and advisory services to project teams and contractors in the management of workplace health and safety.  Act as a Safety and health subject matter expert and coach for site-based Project personnel.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Safety Management / Health;
    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Mining or Heavy industry environment of which at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
    • Chamber of Mines Safety Officer Certificate (COMSOC I & II), Risk Management Qualification;
    • Broad exposure to operating facilities and mines or other major industrial undertakings is essential.
    • Broad exposure to complex operating environments in line management as well as functional roles is essential.
    • Experience in the safe and successful development and delivery of very large hard rock underground brownfield projects is essential:
    • Experience in working with diverse stakeholder groups is essential.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Support and maintain a safe and inclusive workplace that adheres to South32 standards and any applicable regulations;
    • Lead and support planning and execution for safety across the major projects;
    • Demonstrate and deliver a high level of maturity in safety leadership;

    • Promote workforce involvement and commitment to safety management;
    • Engage in the internal Major Projects safety forums;
    • Provide health and safety coaching and leadership to project personnel;
    • Conduct health and safety audits and reviews of the Project Health and Safety Management plans.
