What will make you successful in this role?

Deliverables

• Maintaining existing R packages
• Adding new functionality to existing R packages
• Troubleshooting and fixing bugs
• Liaising with IT on performance and infrastructure requirements of hosted components
• Developing new tools/utilities to aid the Actuarial team
• Making efficiency improvements to existing code and processes
• Improving code robustness
• Writing documentation and creating training materials on new features

Competencies Required

• Strong programming skills, preferably with experience in a functional language
• Analytical and critical thinker with a curious mind
• An aptitude for analysing and deconstructing novel problems
• The ability, interest and drive for constant self-directed learning and research
• A willingness to learn R to a high standard

Qualifications And Experience

Minimum Qualification Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computing or mathematical sciences, or computing/IT industry certifications at an equivalent level.

Minimum Experience

• 2 years extensive coding experience

What will you do?

• At MiWay we are continuously looking to enhance the way we quantify risk, price and design our products. We are looking for a candidate that can extract value form vast amounts data using actuarial, statistical and machine learning techniques to create reward initiatives and programs optimised for MiWay’s customers.

Minimum Qualification Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematical Statistics, or related field

Minimum Experience

• 2 years actuarial experience in short term insurance.

Deliverables include, but will not be limited to

• Use actuarial techniques and models to investigate, design and develop appropriate reward initiatives that meet MiWay’s business requirements.
• Assist in the development of new initiatives and products that are powered by telematics technologies.
• Assist in the design and implementation of processes and systems supporting all MiWay’s rewards initiatives.
• Create and maintain reports that track the effectiveness of the reward initiatives and products over time.
• Create and maintain relationships with relevant internal stakeholders and external providers related to rewards. 

Competencies Required

• Confidence and good communication with non-actuarial audience.
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft SQL Server.
