    World Heritage Specialist

    PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

    • To drive and implement the identification, inscription, development and preservation of world heritage, African liberation heritage as well as facilitate multilateral engagement and programmes that contribute to the heritage sector. 

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 

    • World heritage Programmes development and implementation 
    • African Liberation Heritage preservation 
    • Sites Development and management 
    • Multilateral and sector engagements 
    • Resources Coordination and monitoring 
    • Continuous improvement of self and role outputs 

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Interpret and apply the world Heritage Convention, National Heritage Resources Act and NDP 
    • Developing ideas, testing viability, business cases, projects 
    • Project and Risk management 
    • Lobbying and persuasion and sensitivity to shifting political dynamics 
    • Compiling strategic documents 
    • Research and writing skills 
    • Computer skills 
    • Negotiation Skills 
    • Ability to speak and write one of the UN languages is desirable 

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE 
    Minimum education required 

    • Graduate qualification in South African history, political science studies, anthropology, transformation, heritage studies or relevant NQF level 7 qualification.  
    • Required Functional Knowledge/Skills 
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation policies 
    • Excellent grammar skills 
    • Computer skills 
    • Working knowledge and understanding of the communication environment policies, knowledge and understanding of government 

    Required experience 

    • At least 5 Years’ relevant experience 
    • An added advantage will be experience in world heritage
