Underground Observer at TWK Agri

BedRock, part of the TWK Group, has the following vacancy available: Underground Observer at Westonaria Service Centre, Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Responsibilities and Duties

Regular underground visits to ensure:

• Correct underground pack installation
• Examine the roof and side walls of haulage ways
• Identify deviations or non-conformances, plan and implement corrective actions to ensure attainment of production plan
• Enforce the right way of pack construction and installation according to BedRock standard
• Observe and give training where necessary on how to install timber packs
• Conduct investigations, record and report performance of products
• Record non-compliance of all workplaces where conditions could adversely affect the safety and healthy of persons
• Report promptly to the manager any defect or deficiency in the installation of products at the mine
• Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy working environment in the workplace

Qualifications and Skills

• Matric / Grade 12
• Underground experience (minimum 3 years)
• Excellent health – Fit to work in underground conditions
• Physical strength and stamina
• Safety knowledge
• Timber Pack installation knowledge
• Work overtime and sometimes weekends should the need arise
• Be prepared to travel and work different shafts, own transport will be a benefit
• Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and HSE compliance.
• Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English
