Technologist General Service at Anglo American

Purpose

• The purpose is to design, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain instruments and instrumentation systems and execute daily functions that comply with all relevant safety, health, and environmental requirements.

Your duties will include:

• Prepare comprehensive production plans and schedules for product manufacturing, ensuring accuracy in statistics and information.
• Proactively manage asset integrity and performance risks, identify potential issues, and implement practical solutions.
• Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reviews, reporting findings to the relevant managers.
• Maintain equipment, machines, processes, and tools to ensure maximum availability and achieve quality standards (i.e., Mean time between failures, Mean time between repairs, Equipment availability).
• Plan, implement, and manage maintenance schedules with consideration for production targets, minimising production interruptions.
• Identify improvement opportunities, implement feasible changes, and maintain new performance standards.
• Ensure compliance with system and administrative requirements, reporting accordingly.
• Report on daily schedule progress,
• Report on the previous day's performance, outstanding risks, and urgent work.
• Address Weekly schedule compliance, reconciliation, and deviations.
• Ensure Pre-Planning is completed within the Operating Model Procedure.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

• Relevant National Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
• SA Drivers Licence

Experience

• 5 – 10 Years’ technical experience in Mechanical Maintenance, Reliability and Diagnostics.
• Mining equipment automation experience.
• Control and Instrumentation design experience – Plant and or Mobile equipment.
• Global automation experience (Advantageous).
• Key value drivers within the discipline's value chain and interdependence of critical levers.
• Principles of how operational processes are classified according to the Operating Model, focusing on Work Management.
• New technologies and their impact on operational activities within the scope of the role.
• Business improvement tools and techniques.
• Business acumen and commercial drivers of site performance.
• Basic financial metrics & budgeting tools.
• Risk management techniques and critical controls.
• Project management fundamentals.
• Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements, specifically the MHSA
