    Team Leader

    The Team Lead Role

    The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, Aids-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) programme provides a comprehensive package of core interventions to address key factors that make adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) particularly vulnerable to HIV. These include structural factors, such as gender-based violence, exclusion from economic opportunities, and a lack of access to secondary school. DREAMS layers multiple interventions at once so that AGYW are surrounded with critical support to keep them safe from HIV and other risks.

    The Team Leader position will support and deliver on NACOSA’s USAID funded Community-based Violence Prevention and Linkages to Response in SA Programme. This HIV and GBV Prevention Programme focuses on delivering both evidence-based group interventions to adolescent girls and young women and adolescent boys and young men (aged 15-19 and 20-49 years). It further focuses on secondary interventions services to survivors of sexual violence (females aged 15-24 years).

    Three Team Leads will support the implementation of the NO Means No intervention Programme in two (Sub District A and D) of the seven Health Sub-Districts of the City of Johannesburg.

    NACOSA is looking for experienced Team Leads to deliver on the following key performance areas:

    • Demand creation, recruitment and enrolment of eligible beneficiaries: Support the Program Coordinator to lead the team to implement and execute targeted demand creations, mobilization, recruitment and enrolment activities.
    • Facilitation of DREAMS Group Based Interventions: Facilitate Evidence based interventions to relevant target populations. In addition, support and assist coordination logistics for the smooth implementation of the GBI’s by the sub-district team.
    • Networking, Linkages and Referral: Support the Program Coordinator in Safe Space and stakeholder/partner mapping, maintenance of a database of stakeholders and their services/focus areas (DREAMS and non-DREAMS partners), support successful referrals and bi-directional linkages of DREAMS primary and secondary interventions.
    • Monitoring and Reporting: Perform 1st line data completeness checks and submit data on behalf of the team; assist Program Coordinator to collect team output data for the compilation of reports.
    • HR and Administration: Support Team Planning and assist to submit individual team member plans to the Program Coordinator on a weekly basis; submit requests for procurement and logistics on behalf of the team; record and track stock/equipment issued to the team. 

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 
    • Post matric qualification advantangeous.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in leading direct implementation teams working in the HIV prevention field in a target driven programme. Related work experience in the health and social development sectors, and preferably in the field of AGYW and/or survivors of sexual violence advantageous.
    • Experience in direct implementation planning, logistical support and basic data collection/completeness checks is important.
    • Well established community/stakeholder relationship building track record/ability to network and navigate communities.
    • Problem solving skills and ability to think on their feet.
    • Excellent communications skills in English, including the ability to guide implementers on implementation.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment, person centered; possess leadership skills and qualities and be proactive.
    • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with experience of web-based data systems
    • Knowledge about: HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health; HIV Testing Services; GBV programming; evidence-informed and rights-based programming for survivors of GBV, particularly for adolescent girls and young women.
    • Driver’s license – Non-negotiable requirement.
