Subject Head (contract appointment: 5 five years) - (1047) at University of the Free State

Duties and responsibilities:
Provide academic leadership.
Strengthen and maintain ties with the Bloemfontein branch of the department.
Contribute to overall leadership in the faculty.
Active participation and Involvement in applicable Faculty and UFS management Structures.

• Contribute to initiate, formulate and implement a visionary academic strategy for the department.
• Create and maintain a visionary research strategy for the department.
• Build an effective team of scholars.
• Encourage and actively support academic staff members to apply for external research and other grants.

Inherent Job requirements:

• A PHD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics on NQF level 10.
• Any full-time, permanent member of the academic staff of the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of the Free State (UFS).

Recommendations:

• Good management skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to function with ease in the university’s richly diverse working environment.

Term of office:  Five (5) years.
