    Structural Engineer - Kathu

    Job Description:

    Ensure that Structural Engineering technical services are optimised and delivered professionally and effectively, adhering to all safety and legislative requirements.

    Your duties will include:
    Structural Engineering Processes Management:

    • Manage and govern all structural engineering processes safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively to meet short-term and long-term production objectives.
    • Develop and test new growth ideas, including technology, for viability in preparation for and to be taken through the various project phases to ensure project success.
    • Implement and contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects to ensure the implementation of best-practice engineering processes.

    Design and Compliance Assurance:

    • Prepare, review, coordinate, check and approve calculations, drawings, and specifications to achieve and maintain Kumba’s operational and project objectives.
    • Ensure adherence to structural design standards and specifications throughout project assignments.

    Contractor and Customer Relationship Management:

    • Manage Structural consultants and contractors as part of the team to ensure zero harm to workers and minimal property damage.
    • Ensure that customer relations are maintained and enhanced to contribute to overall project success.
    • Ensure all contracts are in place to monitor contractor performance and compare to agreed-upon requirements.

    Reporting and Budget:

    • Creating automated reports where appropriate to track and monitor results and quantify benefits associated with specific strategic initiatives.

    Contribute to the development of the Departmental budget.
    Manage the section's expenditure within the approved budget to ensure effective cost control and savings.
    Identify any opportunities for improved cost management and either address these or raise them with your manager.Provide compliance assurance, auditing, and inspection services to the operations.

    Qualifications:

    • Relevant Engineering Diploma / Equivalent NQF6
    • Relevant Engineering Degree / Equivalent Advantageous
    • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Technologist
    • SA Drivers Licence Code B

    Experience
    Technical Knowledge

    • Business acumen.
    • Understand Structural Engineering maintenance.
    • Design input into projects within an EPCM environment.
    • Understanding of the mine planning cycle.
    • Basic financial metrics & budgeting tools.
    • Risk management techniques and critical controls.
    • Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements
