Specialist Logistics CH (Inbound) - South32, Richards Bay at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of this role is to coordinate activities within the logistics section of Hillside Aluminium and coordinate the inbound raw material logistics of Hillside and Mozal Aluminium in order to produce cost-effective high-quality aluminum, without sacrificing safety or plant integrity

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a degree or National Diploma in a Technical/Supply/ Logistics field together with a minimum of 4-6 years’ work experience is essential;
• Raw Materials / Logistics experience is essential;
• Knowledge of international shipping laws and logistics will be advantageous;
• Computer literacy in MS Suite is essential;
• Knowledge and working experience on SAP is essential.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Consult with Marketing and Production to establish, implement and manage yearly shipping schedule in line with strategic stock holding policies.
• Maintain and update master ship plan (6-month view) and utilize the plan to provide input into all Logistics plans.
• Update the Berth line-up planning using Freight Schedule Report (SAP) and updates from Marketing. Highlight and action issues / opportunities with congestion and demurrage minimization by utilizing the plan.
• Forecast of short-, medium- and long-term stock levels for regular review by the management to ensure stock holding is kept above operating window minimums.
• Develop production schedule, plan and monitor raw material movement and advise the forecast to Carbon departmental manager.
• Compile the weekly Conveyer plan-allocation of material between silos in conjunction with maintenance plans. Execute weekly raw materials transfers
• Determine import / local pitch ratios to be loaded for delivery to Hillside from the harbor, ensuring quality specifications are adhered to and required stock holdings are maintained and balanced.
• Complete the site raw material reconciliation process (weekly; monthly etc.), including all required Stock Movements on SAP. Issue the weekly raw material dashboard report.
• Manage the creation and tracking of all SAP requisitions for the logistics functions (transport, leases etc).
• Manage the collation and submission of all documentation required for vessel clearance to the relevant entity.
• Administer and monitor the key Logistics contracts (Pitch Transfer, Stevedores, TNPA, TPT).
• Resolve and escalate where necessary, any raw material issues between Marketing, Hillside and Mozal Aluminium.
• Monitor TPT and Stevedores ship offloading performance according to Contract / SLA.
• Update load Port ETA/ETD in SAP biweekly
• Maintain, analyze and sign off on all vessel debriefs.
• Adhere to the execution of the schedule in order to achieve established performance targets on HSEC, Cost and Volume (according to the Schedule).
• Provide input to investigations of relevant Events.
• Track and provide a monthly demurrage analysis to management.
• Contribute to improve work practices, procedures and critical controls for material risks.
