    Shift Foremen-Smelter Facility - Pretoria

    Job Profile:

    • To supervise the operations of the furnace, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, optimizing production efficiency, coordinating shifts, and ensuring proper handling and disposal of uranium-contaminated materials in accordance with regulations.

     Key Performance Areas:

    • Ensure optimal production output by monitoring the performance of the induction furnaces. This includes maintaining high uptime, minimizing downtime, and maximizing the efficiency of the furnace operation.
    • Operationalize procedures by compiling, reviewing, and executing prescribed work instructions
    • Receive radiological contaminated components
    • Continuously seeking opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the induction furnace processes for uranium-contaminated material.
    • Supervise and guide the shift team, including furnace operators and support staff, in the handling and processing of uranium-contaminated material.
    • Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance activities to ensure the proper functioning of the induction furnaces and associated equipment.
    • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that the produced materials meet the required specifications and quality standards.
    • Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure that the processed material meets the required specifications and quality standard
    • Ensure that resource requirements are available for the effective and efficient operation of the facility.
    • Adhere to all applicable regulations, licenses, permits, and legal requirements related to handling and processing uranium-contaminated material.
    • Oversee the facility equipment inspections and the non-compliances register job cards.
    • Ensure that the Smelter Facility processes  conform to Nuclear licensing requirements
    • Ensure that the housekeeping in the facility is maintained.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Education:

    • National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering/Chemical Engineering

    Experience: 

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with induction furnaces of the which 2 years must be in supervisory role
