    Shaftman Grade 3

    Job description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
    • Achievement of quality standards within tolerances
    • Effective risk management and compliance with DMR, M&RC and client requirements
    • Cost containment
    • Effective stakeholder engagement
    • Competent, motivated and positive team
    • Effective self-management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
    • Conducting all assigned work in a satisfactory and competent manner
    • Ensuring the safety of the employees under his/her contro
    • Complying with the Health and Safety policy and practices of the company

    Minimum requirements

    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
    • Valid Blasting Certificate for specific mining sector (metalliferous) Essential
    • Onsetters Certificate Essential
    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Competency A, B & BA advantageous
    • Sound verbal and written communication skills in English

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • 5 years mining industry experience (underground and surface)
    • 5 years shaft sinking experience at the shaft bench.
    • Experience managing a crew at the shaft bench.
    • Sound drilling and blasting knowledge for the specific mining sector
    • Knowledge of sound people management practices, including basic conditions of employment.
    • Extensive shaft sinking experience and all related disciplines (Preferred)
    • Able to identify rock strata conditions and their relevant supports
